#10: Walking In On Keisha Kissing Drew

Throughout the show, Chris gets infatuated with several girls, but his very first crush was Keisha. From dreaming about her to seeing her everywhere on the street, it’s safe to say that Keisha had built a home in Chris’ head and moved all of her things in. When Drew consistently gets bad grades on his Math tests, Rochelle hires Keisha to tutor him, providing an opportunity for Chris to have some alone time with her. He struts back home from school, ready to swoop the girl of his dreams off her feet, only to have his heart shattered when he walks in on her kissing Drew. It’s a heartbreaking moment for Chris and a less-than-ideal example for math tutors around the world.
#9: Getting Recruited Onto The Basketball Team

While discussing sports with his best friend, Greg, Chris is overheard by the school’s basketball coach and immediately recruited into the team. Knowing fully well that he cannot play the sport, Chris accepts to join the team once he realizes just how much of a cool kid it made him seem. He tries to intentionally flunk his test so as to avoid playing the game, but being Swish, the basketball maestro, his teacher gives him a pass mark anyway. Expectedly, Chris is terrible on the court, missing several shots and getting knocked down more than a few times. His cool kid card is quickly revoked, but at least, he’s still got a friend in his fellow nerd, Greg.

After beating Caruso in the election for Class President, Chris faced a dilemma nearly every politician who came before him had - delivering on his campaign promises. His inability to produce results angers the students, particularly the student reporter, whose school paper columns make his life a living hell. Chris finds out from his teachers that the position of class president is only titular and doesn’t bestow any power upon him, hence he’s unable to fulfill any of his promises. Despite giving an impassioned speech at his hearing, Chris is impeached by his peers and his longtime nemesis, Caruso, who bangs the gavel that seals his fate.

Joey Caruso’s reign as Head Student Persecutor at Corleone Junior High and Tormentor of Chris’ life comes to an end when another kid he intimidated learns how to fight and kicks his ass. The incident gives Caruso a taste of his own medicine, affecting him so much that he gives up his role as the school jerk and becomes a pushover. Like any society that loses its central figure of authority, Corleone quickly descends into chaos without Caruso. Other students, vying for Caruso’s old gig, start picking on Chris, making life unbearable for him. This forces Chris to fix a match between Caruso and the kid who beat him up, returning Caruso back to his original position and restoring order in Corleone Junior High.
#6: Getting Robbed By Malvo

Chris’ first job working at Doc’s corner store was a fairly easy one and it made Julius very proud of him. When Doc has to go to the bank, he leaves Chris in charge of the store, letting him work the cash register for the first time. Malvo, a well-known criminal in the neighborhood, takes advantage of Doc’s absence and robs Chris by flashing a gun at him. After being threatened by Malvo, Chris is too scared to snitch on him, so he gives false descriptions to the police and to Doc, and is soon fired from his job. Not wanting to disappoint Julius, Chris eventually tells Doc the truth and helps in a sting operation that results in Malvo’s arrest.
#5: Having His Clothes Stolen On Picture Day

Ah, picture day! The most important school day in a kid’s life, where everything HAS to go right. But it wouldn’t be an episode of Everybody Hates Chris if things didn’t somehow end badly for Chris. After manipulating Rochelle into getting him new clothes for his school picture day, Chris prances into school with all eyes on him, ready to become one of the cool kids. Two of those eyes, unfortunately, belonged to Caruso, who steals the clothes out of his locker during gym class. Eventually, Chris has to settle for clothes from the drama department and ends up looking more like [“a lawn jockey?!] and less like a cool kid in his school picture.
#4: Caught With An Adult Magazine

While trying to get Krazy Glue from his father’s toolbox, Chris finds a Playboy magazine and steals it. He takes the magazine to school and, like a true son of his father, finds a business opportunity and starts charging students to look at it. After Caruso extorts the magazine from him and sells it to another kid, Chris snatches it and soon bumps into the vice principal, who confiscates it. Chris tries to steal the magazine, once again, from the vice principal’s office, but she catches him in the act and calls his parents. He is scolded by Rochelle, but lies about the true origin of the magazine. Well, at least, he gets to keep the money he made, right…?
#3: Getting Suspended From School

Tired of being a nerd at school, Chris decides he’s been at the bottom of the ladder for too long and deserves to become one of the cool kids. To achieve this, he takes a pack of cigarettes from Doc’s store (which he pays for!) and brings it to school, but is caught by a teacher and promptly suspended. Chris hides his suspension from his parents and hangs around the neighborhood during school hours. He notices a group of cool kids and is able to charm his way into hanging out with them. The cool kids try to get him to aid and abet a crime, but after getting some sound advice from Doc and Greg, Chris abandons them, running back to his familiar nerd territory.
#2: Going to Jail

Chris’ first opportunity to travel out-of-state comes when Miss Morello announces a field trip that would only happen if every student sold thirty boxes of cookies to cover the trip’s costs. For Chris, selling the cookies in his neighborhood proves particularly difficult, that is until he starts claiming his cookies just “fell off the truck this morning,” which is slang for “stolen.” This attracts a large crowd to Chris and he is almost sold out of cookies when a pair of handcuffs are slapped on his wrists and he is thrown in jail for selling stolen goods. Of course, it’s just a misunderstanding and Chris is eventually released, but something else threatens his trip to Washington D.C.

Chris first faces off with Caruso in the pilot episode, as a new student at Corleone. The two run into each other in the school hallway and Caruso knocks his books out of his hands and steps on his shoes. Chris first puts on a tough facade, but when the two duel it out after school, Caruso gives him the beating of his life. That marks the start of years of the mistreatment that Chris faces at the hands of Caruso. Even after the two are paired up on a field trip and spend hours trying to understand each other, Caruso still reclines into his oppressor role. In the end, Caruso admits he only picked on Chris because he felt jealous and intimidated by him.
