Top 20 INSANE Secret Menu Items

Top 20 INSANE Secret Menu Items
VOICE OVER: Rudolph Strong
If you're hungry, this mouthwatering video is for you! For this list, we're looking at the greatest secret menu items available at popular fast food restaurants in the United States. Our countdown of insane secret menu items includes restaurants like In-N-Out Burger, Wendy's, Chipotle, McDonald's, KFC, and more!

#20: Flying Dutchman

In-N-Out Burger
California-born fast food chain In-N-Out Burger has played a massive role in popularizing the concept of the secret menu. Their menu, as advertised, is very limited, but their so-called “secret menu” is vast. While many of the items we’ll be discussing today are the unholy brain children of clients rather than the chain itself, In-N-Out Burger recognizes this low-carb meat-lover’s delight by name. The Flying Dutchman, which will require many napkins, consists of two burger patties with cheese in the middle. You can dress it up by adding pickles or onions if you want, or by go the classic In-N-Out Burger route and make it animal style. Or, you can go opt for the popular 4x4 burger if all that STILL isn’t enough.

#19: Sonic Purple Sprite

Sonic Drive-In
We’re going to be looking at a lot of BIG meaty secret menu items today, so it seems only fair to offer up something, cool, refreshing yet similarly unique to help you wash it all down. Sonic has carved out a niche for itself, keeping the spirit of the classic American drive-in alive, but they’re not afraid to try new things or get a little weird. This delightful concoction is a mixture of Powerade, Sprite, lemonade and cranberry juice and is sure to hit the spot. It might even become your new go-to drink on a hot summer’s day.

#18: Neapolitan Shake

In-N-Out Burger
Neapolitan: its an ice cream trifecta of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, which, packaged all-together, wonderfully eliminates the need to pick just one ice cream flavor at the store, but which, realistically… also breeds resentment when all the chocolate inevitably disappears first. Thankfully, the good people at In-N-Out Burger offer up a single serving cup of Neopolitan in the form of one of their delicious shakes. Whether you eat it with a spoon, use it to dip your fries into or just slurp it up with a straw, this retro trio of flavors is sure to take you back to your youthful days of fighting with your siblings over the tub of Neapolitan at home.

#17: Mc10:35

McDonald’s
This one will involve some construction on your part. A product of that awkward point in the day where McDonald’s transitions from breakfast to lunch (or at least used to, before the all day breakfast revolution) the Mc10:35 is a hybrid of a McDouble and an egg McMuffin that involves transferring the filling of one to the other. Basically, you’ve got a sandwich made up of an egg, two beef patties, cheese, and (depending on the McMuffin you ordered) breakfast meat like sausage or bacon. While this used to be a secret menu item that required careful scheduling to acquire, you can now get your hands on it any time after 10:30!

#16: Enchirito

Taco Bell
Who says that there’s no room for innovation in the world of fast food? At Taco Bell, their secret menu is dabbling in culinary fusion! Okay... maybe tex mex mixed with even MORE tex mex falls short of the term “fusion cuisine,” but the enchirito is worthy of your attention nonetheless. As its name suggests, it’s a mix of enchilada and a burrito, and is sure to satisfy your hunger in a way that few other Taco Bell dishes can. The Enchirito has actually been a menu item at various points since the 1970s, but, as of 2018, it’s officially off-menu. Of course, that doesn’t stop countless devotees from ordering one up anyways.

#15: Peanut Butter & Bacon ShackBurger

Shake Shack
In-N-Out Burger might reign supreme on the West Coast, but the NYC-based Shake Shack certainly gives it a run for its money in the battle for most beloved fast food burger chain. Shake Shake hasn’t cultivated the same sort of secret menu buzz as their Cali-contemporary, but with the Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger… they’re certainly making waves. This inspired offering was actually offered as a special menu item, but only for a limited time. Thankfully, they’re still happy to oblige should you request it by special order, the peanut butter just comes on the side. Ooey gooey, and delightfully decadent, the PB&B ShackBurger is simply too good to keep secret.

#14: Liquid Cocaine

Starbucks
Refreshment time! If you’ve eaten so much as one of the previous food-based on items on our list thus far, chances are that you’re feeling pretty sluggish, so why not pop over to Starbucks for a little secret menu pick me up. This is, again, one that you’re definitely NOT going to want to order by name, despite the fact that its hilarious title is oh so fitting. This buzziest of brews is pretty much the last thing your doctor would ever order, as it consists of not two, not three but FOUR shots of espresso and four pumps of white chocolate syrup in a big old grande cup. All served over ice of course.

#13: Animal Style Fries

In-N-Out
As many Californians will tell you, a trip to In-N-Out isn’t complete without an order of Animal Style fries. It’s not enough to have your Flying Dutchman burger and Neapolitan milkshake, you simply MUST get a side of these cheesy potatoes, loaded with grilled onions and In N Out secret spread. Additionally, you gotta hope for crispy, well done fries so that the saucy concoction doesn’t just turn into a soggy mess. In some cases, you might have to order the ingredients separately and assemble them, but it’s more than likely the employee will be all too familiar with ‘Animal Style’.

#12: Double Grilled Cheese Burger

Five Guys
Cheeseburgers are simple, yet absolutely delicious. And though many have tried to upgrade them with their own elevated spin, such offerings rarely best the classic approach. This, however, might just be one of the rare exceptions to that rule. Replacing both the top and bottom half of the bun with a grilled cheese, the Double Grilled Cheese Burger is something everyone needs to try at least once. If you ask one of the more experimental patrons of Five Guys, a franchise that takes the quality of their burgers very seriously, it would seem that the Double Grilled Cheese Burger is, in fact, stroke-inducing fast food genius. Warning: some locations may make you build it yourself.

#11: Blueberry Cheesecake Milkshake

Chick-fil-A
This one is a bit of unicorn, even among secret menu items. If you like blueberry cheesecake (and you do), and you like the notoriously phenomenal Chick-fil-A milkshakes (and you do), you’re going to love this hybrid dream treat. Unfortunately, not all locations serve the blueberry cheesecake dessert, and even those that do serve it are prone to running out of stock. But when the stars align and it’s available, go ahead and get a slice of cake blended into your milkshake. It’s divine. While you’re flexing the Chick-fil-A secret menu, why not start with a chicken quesadilla to make it a complete, semi-balanced meal?

#10: Frito Pie

Sonic
The restaurant chain that’s keeping old-school drive-in culture alive and well in America isn’t afraid to get a little weird with your meal, if you ask politely. Frito pie… people tend to love it or hate it. But if you’re gonna give one a try for the first time, it’s highly recommended to ask Sonic to make the introduction, because they make one mean Frito pie. They do a classic interpretation: ripping open a bag of Fritos from behind the counter, and loading it up with their signature chili and a generous helping of cheese. The salt content is pretty staggering, so you might want to start a tab at the soda fountain. And maybe check that your blood pressure’s okay…

#9: The Incredible Hulk

Taco Bell
It doesn’t even matter what’s in it: when you name a dish after the gigantic green raging monster, you’ve deemed it to be epic, and it’s a challenge the heroic among us will gladly accept. This five layer burrito could also be called “Operation: Drowning in Guacamole.” Fiesta Salsa replaces the nacho cheese sauce and sour cream, … you know, as a healthy option. Yep, we were as surprised as you were to find a healthy choice on Taco Bell’s secret menu, but it had to be somewhere. Take one bite of this behemoth and you’ll understand why it’s become such a clandestine hit - it’s delicious, and unlike most Taco Bell dishes, won’t leave you in a food coma.

#8: Butterbeer Frappuccino

Starbucks
This sweet beverage was described in such mouth-watering detail by author J.K. Rowling, and you’re sure to get parched just thinking about it. Thankfully, between the frozen, cold and hot serving options available at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it’s fair to say that Universal Studios has nailed bringing this once fictitious beverage to life. But what if you want Butterbeer on the regular, and can’t afford the price of admission every time? Thankfully, the vanilla bean Frappuccino at Starbucks, upgraded with shots of toffee nut and caramel syrup, provides a pretty superb alternative. While there, why not try other hit secret menu items, like the Biscotti Frappuccino, or their Dirty Chai?

#7: Meat Mountain

Arby’s
Do you hope to one day scale the Andes, conquer Everest or best Mount Kilimanjaro? Well if you’re a big dreamer, but an even bigger eater, Arby’s has an awe-inspiring mountain for you to champion without ever leaving the comfort of your own city. In fact, this is the only mountain in the world that should be faced from a seated position, as this secret menu item is probably going to leave you severely incapacitated. It’s a full sampling of Arby’s meats, featuring two chicken tenders, bacon, roast turkey, ham, roast beef, corned beef, Angus steak, brisket, and naturally, two slices of cheese. It’s a heavenly view, and an even more heavenly eating experience.

#6: Barnyard Burger

Wendy’s
Imagine if a wolf broke into a barn, and had a particular inclination towards the culinary arts. Think… Remy from Ratatouille, but carnivorous. This wolf would select the choicest meats from the barnyard, and put them together, cooked to perfection, in one immaculately crafted sandwich. Well ladies and gentleman, that pretty much describes the Barnyard burger from Wendy’s secret menu. It takes their juicy beef patties, a slice of ham, perfectly seasoned spicy chicken filet and crispy bacon, and places it all between their signature buns. Whether you’re human or a wolf with a refined palate, it’s a burger that no meat-eater can pass up.

#5: Chicken & Waffles Sandwich [aka Chicken McGriddle]

McDonald’s
A surprising number of people have never tried chicken and waffles, and to those of you who fit into this category, what have you been doing with your life? An admittedly odd combo with roots in the American south, chicken and waffles can get messy, and is usually far from portable. Thankfully, the friendly folks at McDonald’s are willing to make an interpretation of it for you in a convenient sandwich format. Order their crispy chicken fillet in their delicious McGriddle breading, with a side of syrup, and you’ve got chicken and waffles to go.

#4: The Triple Down

KFC
The double down – two fried chicken patties as buns, bacon, cheese, special sauce and absolutely no bread in sight – already sounds like a secret menu item. But no; in possibly one of the boldest moves in fast food history, KFC essentially said “we’re not even going to pretend to care about nutrition,” unleashing this unbelievable product on the hungry masses. But no matter how ridiculous fast food restaurants are willing to become, the consumers will always look to up the ante. The triple down is exactly what it sounds like. Add another layer of fried chicken and all the fixings that separate it. Triple the meat, triple the cheese, and quadruple the guilt.

#3:Wendy’s Meat Cube

Wendy’s
Both Burger King and Wendy’s offer up some impressively tall secret menu burgers, but the latter beats out the competition for one simple reason - the name. The “Meat Cube,” as it has been dubbed by the secret menu loving fast food pioneers out there, is just such a ridiculously unappetizing moniker for this mountain of meat and cheese. But given the unique shape of Wendy’s burger patties… it fits. Also referred to as the “Grand Slam,” this off-menu monstrosity boasts 4 patties to make for a solid pound of beef. Of course, if you prefer Burger King, their secret menu quad stacker is a worthy alternative.

#2: Quesarito

Chipotle
Many secret menu items can just seem excessive, but the quesarito is a true example of innovation in fast food. Seriously, this thing is the result of divine inspiration. A decent amount of work goes into this secret menu item, so it’s a testament to Chipotle and their commitment to customer satisfaction that they’re willing to make it. This heavenly hybrid starts with a cheese quesadilla, which is then used as the tortilla wrapper for a burrito– so simple, yet so good. Taco Bell has added a quesarito to their actual menu, piggy-backing on the hype, but Chipotle’s secret menu quesarito is the original, and vastly superior version.

#1: McChurger (Aka the McGang****)

McDonald’s
McDonald’s, arguably the most popular fast food franchise in the world, has inspired countless secret menu items. The Land, Sea & Air Burger combines the big mac, filet o fish and mcchicken. The Big McChicken gives a Big Mac the “triple down” treatment, replacing all the Big Mac Buns with chicken. The Monster Mac adds 4 extra patties and 7 extra slices of cheese to a Double Big Mac. But one secret menu item not only beats out the competition at Mickey D’s, but reigns supreme over secret menus everywhere. We’re talking about the McChurger. Better known by its X-rated name, this sandwich is a value menu hybrid, requiring you to take a Junior Chicken and smack it in the middle of your McDouble. It’s filling. It’s affordable. And most importantly, it’s insanely delicious.
