Top 20 Best Jim & Pam Moments on The Office
#20: Shoulder Pillow
“Diversity Day”
Even as early as episode 2, Jim and Pam were stealing our hearts! Jim spends much of the episode trying to connect with a client who he makes a quarter of his yearly earnings from. However, between Dwight being Dwight, and Michael continually calling meetings for Diversity Day, Jim never manages to connect with them, ultimately losing out to Dwight. Every cloud has a silver lining, though. As Michael’s meeting wraps up, Pam falls asleep on Jim’s shoulder. He waits until everyone else has left before finally waking her. Given Jim’s satisfaction with the day overall, some things are worth more than money.
#19: Mind Control Prank
“Casino Night”
The prospect of gambling on Casino Night brings up the topic of various ways to bet, including roulette. After Dwight disparages it as a game of chance, Jim can’t help but mess with him. He claims to be able to control things with his mind, which Dwight claims not to believe. Yet, he’s clearly interested. When Dwight asks Jim to prove it by moving a coat rack near Pam’s desk, he gladly takes up the challenge. Dwight is flabbergasted when the rack moves. Cue Pam’s non-verbal explanation. Her assisting Jim with zero coordination between them just shows that they’ve always been on the same wavelength!
#18: Office PDA
“Dunder Mifflin Infinity”
Once Jim and Pam get together, it’s only a matter of time before their relationship is outed. After some cute flirting in the breakroom, a jealous Toby sends out a memo about public displays of affection in the office. Following a hilarious misunderstanding by Michael, Toby eventually clarifies that the memo was about Jim and Pam, which the former reluctantly confirms. Naturally, most of their coworkers are thrilled and congratulate them. Michael’s reaction basically sums up all of ours once they got together. It’s a moment as heartwarming as it is hilarious - particularly when paired with Dwight and Angela’s less-than-enthused commentary.
#17: Drunk on Valentine’s Day
“PDA”
After a bottomless champagne lunch, Jim and Pam return as even more adorable, and loose-lipped, than usual. Upon learning how many of their coworkers have had sex in the office, the loosey-goosey duo spends much of the episode on a hunt for somewhere to “join the club.” From several attempts at the warehouse, to Ryan’s closet office, their attempts are seemingly all unsuccessful. Jim and Pam also try to deny what they’re doing to the cameras, and inadvertently confirm another use for their shower at home. However, a smirk from Pam in one of their interviews makes it clear that they did indeed do the deed!
#16: On the Phone All Day
“Customer Survey”
Even when they’re apart, Jim and Pam can’t be without each other. While Pam is in New York studying graphic design, she and Jim stay in touch by talking to each other via Bluetooth headsets. It’s a simple, but romantic gesture, leading to all manner of funny misunderstandings, especially from Dwight, who believes Jim is talking to himself. Pam’s eavesdropping even allows her to help Jim out of a jam with Kelly, giving her one of the best “that’s what she said” lines of the entire show!
#15: Grilled Cheese on the Roof
“The Client”
When Michael’s away, the office will play. Or, in this case, read his screenplay and mock it. After spending the day doing this, Jim and Pam both decide to forego their previous plans to enjoy a dinner of grilled cheese, and a show - watching Kevin and Dwight play with fireworks. They top the evening off with some mutual music listening from the same set of headphones in the parking lot, where they stand awfully close together. While it may not be their “official” first date… c’mon - this is definitely their real first date!
#14: Jinx
“Drug Testing”
Following a funny and cute scene where they imitate Stanley, Pam calls jinx. Despite the time-honored tradition of buying a Coke to break the jinx, the machine is sold out, leaving Jim unable to talk the entire day. Pam teases him mercilessly and adorably about it, forcing him to listen to Kelly and calling him out during a meeting. Most telling of all, though, is her insistence that Jim can tell her anything, only for the unspoken “thing” between them saying more than words ever could. Eventually, Pam can go without her Jim-talk no longer and buys a Coke to break the jinx so they can catch up. So much of Jim and Pam’s chemistry is nonverbal, and these moments highlight that perfectly.
#13: The Ring
“The Chair Model”
When Pam sets Michael up on a disastrous blind date with her landlady, she laments to Jim that she may need a new place to stay. Jim is more than happy to offer for her to move in with him, but Pam wants to be engaged before they start living together. Jim teases her a bit, telling her that a proposal is coming and it’ll be epic (and it is, more on that later). He reveals to the camera it was no bluff, showing off the ring, and explaining he got it a week after they began dating. Sometimes when you know, you know. That doesn’t stop Jim from teasing her more later, but honestly, when Pam’s reaction is that cute, we can’t blame him.
#12: Italian Food
“Money”
Seeing the person you love with someone else can be devastating. When Jim and Pam see how Dwight reacts when Angela asks Andy out, their hearts go out to their frenemy. Jim goes to talk to Dwight in the stairwell, confessing how he felt empty after Pam initially rejected his feelings. As much as it’s a beautiful moment between the two of them, Jim’s speech crystalizes his feelings for Pam too. He returns to the office and kisses her, asking her out for Italian food. The metaphor Jim and Pam use about Italian food is positively swoon-worthy!
#11: Jim’s Talk With Pam’s Dad
“Stress Relief”
After her parents go through a rough patch, Pam has Jim talk to her dad to see what’s wrong. However, she’s shocked when, following their discussion, her dad announces that he’s separating from her mom. Pam is concerned, not only about her parents, but also about her future with Jim. Upon talking to her dad, she relates to Jim that the way he described his feelings for her made Papa Beesly realize he didn’t feel the same way about her mom. Honestly, we can understand wanting to find someone as perfect for you as Jim and Pam are for each other. Not everyone finds their soulmate.
#10: The Booze Cruise
“Booze Cruise”
In this Season 2 episode, Michael organizes a team-building event for the employees of Dunder Mifflin - a booze cruise... in January. Jim brings his new girlfriend Katy, played by Amy Adams, and Pam is there with longtime fiance, Roy. When Katy and Roy hit it off, Pam and Jim are left alone and manage to have a few quiet moments together where their feelings for each other are clear - to the audience at least. Not much is actually said in the short scene where the two are on the deck together, but words aren’t really necessary to know what’s going on here.
#9: Pam's Beach Confession
“Beach Games”
After almost an entire season of Pam and Jim being apart, tensions were high when Jim returned and was dating Karen. Michael organizes yet another office outing, this time at the scenic Lake Scranton. At the end of the night, Pam walks across hot coals and, emboldened by her daring act, decides to bare all in front of the entire office. She tells Jim that he is the reason she called off her wedding and confesses how much she misses him since he’s been with Karen. If you’ve seen the show, you know this is the start of something big.
#8: Jim Makes a Movie for Pam
“A.A.R.M.”
In the show’s penultimate episode, Pam is feeling insecure about potentially holding Jim back from his dreams. In an effort to reassure her, he collaborates with the documentary crew that has been filming them for all these years and puts together a collection of scenes from the entirety of their relationship. For viewers, it was amazing to get to see this compilation of all the best Jim and Pam moments. And as for Pam - let’s just say that after watching that, there was nothing for her to question.
#7: Finding Out Pam is Pregnant
“Company Picnic”
After Jim and Pam finally get engaged, viewers expected the next step to be their wedding (especially considering Pam was not going to put up with another long engagement!). When Pam goes into the hospital for x-rays after being injured playing volleyball, she gets some news that she wasn’t ready for. Though it’s not spelled out in the scene, the look of elation on Jim’s face tells the viewers what they need to know. A close second to this moment is the one where Pam actually gives birth to Cecelia the following season.
#6: The Proposal
“Weight Loss”
After almost taking the plunge at the end of the previous season, but being thwarted by Andy, viewers knew that Jim was ready to propose to Pam. In the end, he didn’t do some over-the-top romantic grand gesture - and we know that just isn’t their style. Jim drove halfway to meet Pam along the interstate between Scranton and New York where she was going to art school, and got down on one knee in the pouring rain. The fact that it all happened at a gas station doesn’t make it any less swoonworthy.
#5: The Teapot
“Christmas Party”
In the show’s second season, Jim picks Pam’s name for the office’s Secret Santa, and he goes out of his way to get her the perfect present. Of course, Michael couldn’t let anything go smoothly, deciding to do a Yankee Swap instead of Secret Santa at the last minute. This means Pam doesn’t get the gift that Jim lovingly picked for her. She does manage to finally get her hands on it, and the contents are incredibly sweet. Jim manages to subtly take away the card he wrote for her, and for years he keeps it to himself. When he makes Pam the movie in Season 9, however, he finally hands it to her.
#4: The Dundies
“The Dundies”
While there is some romantic tension between Pam and Jim in the show’s short first season, things really only ramp up in Season 2. The first real indicator that Jim’s feelings are reciprocated is when Pam gets drunk at the annual Dunder Mifflin awards night, or “The Dundies.” She’s had a few too many drinks and is riding on a high from winning the award for “whitest sneakers.” After giving her speech, she jumps into Jim’s arms and kisses him. The moment is fleeting and she is soon after giving a lifetime ban from Chili’s for her drunken behavior, but fans knew it was a hint at more to come.
#3: Jim Asking Pam for Their First Date
“The Job”
At the end of the third season, Jim and Karen are both interviewing for the same job at Dunder Mifflin’s head office in New York. They’re clearly not on the same page about their futures together, though. When Jim is about to start his interview, he notices a “good luck” note from Pam and ends up being distracted the entire time. He then drives back to the office without Karen, and while Pam is speaking to the camera, he pops his head in and asks if she’s free for dinner. It’s a simple moment, but it’s the one that really kicks off their relationship.
#2: Their Wedding
“Niagara”
We didn’t need a piece of paper to know that these two were going to last forever - but it was still satisfying to watch them tie the knot. In typical Pam and Jim fashion, they want to get married in an understated way, but with everyone else involved, the planning gets away from them. At the last minute, they decide to run off and elope on the Maid of the Mist, returning in time for their church wedding with all their guests. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to watch them say their I do’s.
#1: Jim Tells Pam
“Casino Night”
We may have known Jim and Pam were perfect for each other for a whole two seasons, but it took until this episode for something to finally happen. At the office casino night, Jim tells Pam that he’s in love with her - and she’s in total shock. She responds by politely shutting him down, but then a phone call with her mom reveals what she’s really thinking. When Jim comes upstairs to find her and they share a kiss, it’s clear that at least in some way, Pam feels the same way Jim does. We could watch this scene again and again!
