#3: The Psyche-Magnitron

In the comics, The Psyche-Magnitron is a Kree invention that grants superhuman abilities to living beings, including the original Captain Marvel and Carol Danvers. We get what seems to be our first look at the MCU’s version of the Psyche-Magnitron in the trailer, as it looks like the machine is feeding the same kind of energy that Carol uses in battle. There will definitely be some changes to Carol’s backstory as she transitions from the page to the big screen, but it’s nice to see Marvel Studios incorporate elements of her long comic book history.

#2: The Kree–Skrull War

Were you confused at the sight of Carol Danvers punching an old lady? Well, there’s a simple explanation: that old woman was actually a member of the shapeshifting alien race, the Skrulls. While this movie will introduce the MCU version of these body-snatching aliens, it will also feature the return of a race we’ve already been introduced to: the Kree. One Kree that will feature prominently is a young Ronan the Accuser, the antagonist of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. We also get our first look at Jude Law, who’s more than likely playing Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel and a member of the Kree, as well as two other Kree who could turn out to be Doctor Minerva and Captain Atlas. These two alien races have a long history in the comics of duking it out for intergalactic supremacy and using Earth as their battleground, so we can’t wait to see this conflict play out in live-action.

#1: The Pager

A quick side-by-side comparison reveals that, yes, that is, in fact, the same pager from the Infinity War post-credit scene, minus the added-on bells-and-whistles that likely grant it intergalactic range. Look, it’s no secret that this movie will set-up “Avengers 4” and reveal where exactly Carol is when Nick Fury summons her to Earth to help in the fight against Thanos, and hopefully, why he held off on calling her when the Chitauri were invading New York or when Ultron nearly decimated the planet. Needless to say, Captain Marvel has a ton of questions to answer by the time the credits roll, and this first trailer has us eagerly awaiting more.
