Top 30 Best Naruto Fights (Every Naruto Battle Ranked)

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 30 best Naruto fights, as part of every “Naruto” battle ranked.

For this list, we’ll be going over the best of all of Naruto’s major fights in the franchise that bears his name.

If there’s a Naruto fight you can’t “believe” isn’t on our list, find your “ninja way” down to the comments.

#30: Naruto & Iruka vs. Mizuki

It’s only fitting that we begin at the beginning. After Mizuki tricks Naruto into stealing a forbidden scroll, Naruto learns his famed Shadow Clone technique. After some emotional reveals about Naruto and the Nine-Tailed Fox, Naruto protects Iruka and uses his new jutsu to beat Mizuki into the ground.

#29: Naruto & Sasuke’s Rooftop Skirmish

This little conflict isn’t a major battle for these two rivals, but it’s worth noting. With Sasuke jealous of Naruto’s newfound strength, the duo decides to have a scrap on the roof of a hospital. After a few blows, they nearly clash with their signature moves – only to be stopped by Kakashi.

#28: Bell Test, Round 2

Naruto and Sakura’s second attempt to steal bells from Kakashi sees them both much improved. It’s a great showcase for their new strength after the time skip. However, ultimately, it’s Naruto’s strategy that wins the day. The threat of spoiling Kakashi’s favorite book series is too much for him.

#27: Naruto vs. Kimimaro

While in pursuit of Sasuke, Naruto must fight Kimimaro, a powerful martial artist who can manipulate his own bones. Even with his Shadow Clones giving him a numerical advantage, the orange-clad ninja is unable to land a decent hit on his pale, bony opponent. If Lee hadn’t arrived, Naruto could have died.

#26: Naruto & Kakashi vs. Itachi Double

Even a duplicate of Itachi makes for a great fight. Naruto, Kakashi, Sakura, and Chiyo all fall under genjutsu used by this Itachi clone. This makes for some trippy sequences, as reality distorts around them. While it isn’t the real Itachi, it’s still satisfying to see Naruto and Kakashi strike back and defeat him.

#25: Naruto & Kakashi vs. Deidara

After a lengthy, lengthy pursuit, Naruto and his sensei retrieve Gaara’s body from this explosive-obsessed member of Akatsuki. Kakashi shows off a new technique that removes both of Deidara’s arms, while Naruto’s rage at Gaara’s death leads him to use more of the Nine-Tails’ chakra. Unfortunately, their opponent escapes with a bang.

#24: Bell Test, Round 1

The original Bell Test sees Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura pitted against Kakashi with the stated goal being to retrieve several bells from his waist. Naruto and the others try to do this alone, and Naruto suffers one of his most embarrassing losses. A Thousand Years of Death is probably how long it’ll take to forget this humiliation.

#23: Naruto & Killer B vs. Itachi & Nagato

The resurrected Itachi and Nagato are forced to fight Naruto and Killer B when they come across each other. Itachi manages to free himself halfway through and helps them. Despite the strength of those involved, it’s a fairly quick battle, but still a fun one all the same; offering closure between Naruto and Nagato.

#22: Naruto vs. Kiba (& Akamaru)

One of Naruto’s more underrated fights during the Chunin Exams, our hero is forced to think strategically to combat Kiba and his dog, Akamaru. Even so, we understand why many don’t rate it highly. Naruto tricking Kiba into attacking his partner is great, as is the finisher, but the whole fart gag does make it hard to take seriously.

#21: Naruto vs. A, the Third Raikage

When the revived Third Raikage, A, manages to solo the entire Fourth Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces, it’s lucky that Naruto shows up to help. Even though his Wind Style attacks are meant to be effective, A’s legendary durability remains unbroken. That is, of course, until Naruto figures out that the late Raikage’s only scar was self-inflicted. It’s a nice bit of strategy.

#20: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Zabuza

With Kakashi trapped and drowning, Naruto and Sasuke team up to fight Zabuza and free their sensei. Although Naruto is clearly overmatched in combat against a veteran like Zabuza, he comes up with a clever plan. By disguising himself as a shuriken, Naruto gets the drop on the rogue ninja, forcing him to release Kakashi. It’s a clever plan and shows the knucklehead is smarter than he looks.

#19: Naruto vs. Kakuzu

Team 10 and Kakashi have already weakened this immortal, wiry Akatsuki ninja, but it’s Naruto who takes him down. Naruto displays a more effective use of his Shadow Clones to gain information in this fight, and also debuts a new technique – the Rasenshuriken. With this powerful, but dangerous move, he cuts the strings on Kakuzu for good.

#18: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Orochimaru

Naruto and his teammates are attacked by Orochimaru in disguise during the Chunin Exams. The snake has a literal giant snake eat Naruto, who explodes it from the inside with his Shadow Clones. Although Naruto gets taken out by Orochimaru, he still manages to inspire Sasuke – albeit after punching him and flexing on him.

#17: Naruto, Boruto, Sasuke & Jiraiya vs. Urashiki

When an Ōtsutsuki clan member with a grudge travels back in time to kill Naruto when he’s weaker, Sasuke and Boruto pursue him. While there, they team up with Naruto’s younger self and Jiraiya to fight Urashiki. The teamwork between father and future son, as well as their mentors, is awesome, as are their combo attacks.

#16: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Madara

While they’ve been fighting against him for most of the War arc, it isn’t until near the climax that Sasuke and Naruto battle Madara Uchiha directly. After gaining new powers from the Sage of Six Paths, the two rivals are able to damage the revived, nearly god-like shinobi. Unfortunately, they don’t take him out. With a more satisfying conclusion, this might’ve ranked higher.

#15: Naruto vs. Delta

When one of the Inners of Kara, Delta, comes after Kawaki, a kid Naruto has basically adopted, Naruto springs into action. However, Delta is tough to defeat, having regenerative abilities, cyborg modifications, and the power to absorb jutsus. The fight has some decent hand to hand combat, which Naruto rarely gets to do at this point in the story. However, Naruto achieves victory by turning one of Delta’s strengths against her. He creates a massive Rasengan and pours power into it, reasoning that Delta can only absorb so much. By exceeding her limits, Naruto overwhelms her, and teaches her that you don’t mess with his family.

#14: Naruto vs. Orochimaru

When Team 7 is confronted with Orochimaru on a mission, Naruto flies into a rage at the sight of the man who tempted Sasuke into darkness. Naruto draws on the Nine-Tails’ chakra and becomes completely bestial. His opponent is equally monstrous, as Orochimaru, deprived of most of his abilities, uses his snakes to terrifying and disturbing effect. This battle sees Naruto at his most animalistic and the savagery makes it quite the spectacle. Although Orochimaru is pretty clearly the victor, the outcome could’ve been worse, considering Naruto nearly kills his friends as well.

#13: Naruto vs. Kabuto

Caught in the middle of the battle between Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru, Naruto fights against Orochimaru’s right hand man Kabuto. With Tsunade incapacitated by her blood phobia, and already weakened by some hard hits, Naruto steps in to defend her. While definitely over his head, Naruto’s staunch refusal to give up is front and center in this fight. He punctuates this sentiment by successfully performing the Rasengan for the very first time. Although Kabuto manages to take him out too, it’s a memorable fight because of how Naruto proves himself, both to Tsunade and to the audience, plus the milestone of Naruto debuting his signature attack.

#12: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Haku

One of the earliest fights in the series is also one of Naruto’s most memorable. When Sasuke is surrounded by Haku’s crystal ice mirrors, Naruto comes to aid him. The rivals are hard pressed to gain an advantage against Zabuza’s apprentice, who can strike rapidly from any side. After Sasuke is seemingly killed, Naruto loses it and unleashes the Nine Tails’ chakra for the first time, completely wrecking Haku. And while Naruto doesn’t kill Haku, the young ninja soon gives his life to protect Zabuza. It’s a simple fight, but it has remained cemented in many fans’ minds, thanks to the emotions involved.

#11: Naruto & Everyone vs. Obito

Naruto battles Obito Uchiha over a huge section of the War arc, so we’re including them all in one! There are so many great moments in these fights. Naruto works together with Kurama for the first time and gains a new level of strength. He alone finds Obito’s weakness after he’s fused with the Ten Tails. Naruto teaming up with Sasuke again is hype. But best of all, Naruto rallies everyone around him to work together to defeat their common foe, even reaching out to his enemy. There’s a little bit of everything throughout this long battle. If it were a bit more focused or tightly paced, it would easily rank higher. There’s a lot to love here though.

#10: Naruto vs. Toneri

When Hinata is kidnapped by a wizard who came from the moon (kind of), Naruto will stop at nothing to save her. Storming Toneri’s moon base with his friends, Naruto battles the Ōtsutsuki clan member with both Kurama’s huge form and up close and personal. Toneri even cuts the moon in half! Ultimately though, the power of love – and Naruto’s furious fist, knocks proves enough to defeat Toneri. Although the whole fight and situation are pretty outlandish, what they lack in sense they make up for in spectacle. Plus, the whole fight leads to Naruto and Hinata finally getting together.

#9: Naruto vs. Neji

The ultimate clash between natural talent and guts! Neji is a bitter member of the Hyuga clan convinced of his own superiority, while also positive that destiny cannot be overcome through effort. Naruto decides to prove him wrong. While Neji is clearly a superior fighter, with some great moves that leave Naruto barely able to get a hit in, or even access his chakra at one point. However, by drawing on Kurama’s chakra and taking advantage of his environment, Naruto knocks Neji out. Not only that, but he also changes his opponent’s mind. Sure, Naruto has an advantage with the Nine Tails inside him, but it only helps him because he turned a minus into a plus.

#8: Naruto vs. Gaara

A bloodthirsty fellow jinchūriki, Gaara attacks Naruto’s friends in the forest, gradually transforming into the monstrous Shukaku. Naruto comes to empathize with Gaara, given their similar situations. However, that doesn’t stop him from beating the crap out of him! Naruto creates thousands of clones here, which leads to some cool techniques. There’s even the first of many kaiju battles here. It all comes down to a few blows though, as Naruto literally knocks some sense into Gaara. Naruto likes to see himself in his opponents a lot, but it’s arguably the most accurate here. And that’s probably why Naruto manages to reach Gaara and help him become a better person.

#7: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Jigen

Kidnapping is not something you can get away with, particularly when it’s in Naruto’s house! After Jigen, the vessel of Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, shows up to kidnap Kawaki, Jigen takes Naruto to another dimension rather than fight him. However, Sasuke follows them and the two old rivals team up once again. While this fight may not reach the emotional or narrative highs that some of the fights ahead do, it makes up for that in other ways. Jigen’s shrinking and absorption powers prove surprisingly effective in dealing with Naruto and Sasuke, despite their strength. Although it concludes with Naruto being captured, the excellent animation and choreography make it incredibly entertaining while it lasts.

#6: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, & Obito vs. Kaguya

The final big bad of the original “Naruto” story, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is revived and only Team 7 and Obito remain to oppose her. While it doesn’t have a lot of buildup, the fight’s still a blast, with each character contributing in a meaningful way, and Obito even sacrificing his life. The dimension hopping and incredibly strong abilities give it a unique flavor all its own. Plus, Naruto shows off what is either his dumbest jutsu ever, or his smartest jutsu ever. Or both? It’s a battle that decides the fate of the world, and Naruto and Team 7 pulling it off never fails to make us cheer.

#5: Naruto vs. Isshiki

The most recent fight on our list, this battle sees Naruto pitted against the Ōtsutsuki who claimed Jigen as a vessel. When Naruto finds himself at a loss, he and Kurama turn to their last resort – Baryon Mode. This powerful new form isn’t as flashy as some of Naruto’s others, but it packs quite the punch! The ensuing fight with Isshiki has quite a few punches actually, since it’s more focused on close combat. However, that’s because, in addition to draining the user’s life force, it also does so to the opponent when they’re in contact. While Isshiki is defeated, it comes at the cost of Kurama’s life, marking the end of an era and an unlikely friendship.

#4: Naruto vs. Pain

Many consider this fight and the arc it’s a centerpiece of, to be peak “Naruto.” And we can see why. After Pain has destroyed Konoha and killed some of its most powerful ninja, Naruto returns and fights the seven-bodied man on his own. The battle has a ton of great moments, from Naruto’s many clever takedowns of the different Paths of Pain, to his berserk beatdown after Hinata is seemingly killed, to revelations about his parentage. While this is another foe Naruto defeats with words, the fight is fantastic from top to bottom…awkward animation frames included!

#3: Naruto vs. Sasuke, Round 1

The climactic battle of the original “Naruto” anime, Naruto and Sasuke’s first genuine fight is a showstopper. The two rivals’ clash brings everything to a head, with their emotions and ideals clashing just as much as their blows. And the fight itself is filled to the brim with creative and memorable moves, as well as innovative use of the watery environment. It all builds to a crescendo as they use their most powerful moves in their most powerful forms to collide in the middle of the valley. Naruto may technically lose this one, but if he’d won, we wouldn’t have a certain other fight we’ll be discussing shortly.

#2: Naruto & Sasuke vs. Momoshiki

Confronted with another of those pesky Ōtsutsukis, Naruto and Sasuke tag team the would-be god in this awesome battle. The animation here goes to 11, and the choreography is fantastic, with rapid blows, inventive attacks, and even some callbacks to classic moves. Plus there’s even some kaiju fighting! While the Momoshiki fight lacks some of the emotional weight and length of most of Naruto’s best fights, it more than makes up for it by delivering nearly 10 minutes of satisfying and gorgeous action! Even people who don’t like “Boruto” love this fight! It’s just that good!

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:

Naruto & Allied Shinobi Forces vs. Ten-Tails
Naruto Granting His/Kurama’s Chakra to Everyone Else Is Peak Squad Goals

Naruto vs. Kurama
Sometimes to Make Friends With the Demon Fox Inside You, You Have to Beat Him Up

Team 7 vs. Ten-Tails
Naruto, Sasuke, & Sakura Fighting Together Again!

#1: Naruto vs. Sasuke, Round 2

You all saw this coming. Having just saved the world from Kaguya, Naruto and Sasuke still have to sort out their own issues the only way they know how. Their titanic final battle is the conclusion of the original “Naruto” story. The fight sees them begin by throwing their now god-like powers at each other in awe-inspiring ways, but by the end, they’re reduced to barely being able to throw punches at each other. Both of them give everything they have here, but in the end it’s Naruto’s simple desire to be Sasuke’s friend that sees him emerge the victor. This fight is everything the franchise had been building towards since the very beginning and the amazing action and character development didn’t disappoint.
