Top 5 Cordless Drills (2020)

Welcome to GetMojo, we do the research so you don’t have to! In this video, we’re offering our picks for the 5 best Cordless Drills on the market in 2020.

The drill is the backbone of any effective tool kit. It’s great for things like hanging shelves, building garden furniture and fitting drywall. But with so many different brands and models out there, which one is right for you? Well, to help you decide, we’ve sifted through numerous website and consumer reviews to present our 5 recommended products. Okay, first up.

The Front Runner

Bosch PS31-2A 12V Drill

This extremely compact drill packs quite a punch, with 265 inch-pounds of torque and a max speed of 1,300 RPM. It also comes with two batteries as part of its $89 price tag, along with a soft carry case. Those looking for precision and convenience will appreciate its 21-stage clutch and variable speed trigger - allowing for torque flexibility - and the fact that it features a battery gauge on its side and an LED light. Consumers on Amazon have praised its excellent battery life and its various speed and torque-altering functions.

The Comparable

Porter-Cable 20V Drill (PCC601LB)

With 20-volts and a speed of 1,500 RPM, this is one of the most powerful drills you can buy at the $100 mark. Like the aforementioned Bosch model, this drill also comes with two batteries, a soft carry bag and a built-in LED light in the handle - but it does have a few more stage-clutch positions, with a total of 23, and it operates at a slightly higher RPM. It’s a little bulkier than the Bosch too, but ultimately you get a more powerful tool.

The Flexible One

Hitachi 18V Drill With Flashlight (DS18DSAL)

If you’re after something a bit more versatile, then this Hitachi drill is a great choice. As well as offering plenty of power - with 460 inch-pounds of torque and a max speed of 1,500 RPM - this 18V drill comes equipped with a hard case, two batteries, a metal belt loop and a five-position LED flashlight. The flashlight is compatible with the included rechargeable batteries too. This $200 drill also has a 22-stage clutch and is very compact and manageable.

The Deluxe

DeWalt 20V Drill (DCD791D2)

If you insist on having the best tools, then DeWalt has a wide range of excellent drills, but our pick is this 20V model. With a max speed of 2,000 RPM, it’s the fastest drill on today’s list, and thanks to its two, large capacity batteries, it can take the strain of longer jobs, and longer screws. Priced at $200, it boasts plenty of power, and like most other DeWalt drills, its ergonomics are pretty much flawless, with a super comfortable handle, a belt hook, base-mounted LED light and snub-nose design that makes accessing tight spaces a breeze.

The Bang for Your Buck Option

Black & Decker 20V Drill (LDX120C)

If you’re on a budget, or you simply don’t do that much DIY, then Black & Decker has this highly-affordable, but very capable, $50 model. It may only come with one battery and have limited oomph, but for $50 you get a drill with 11 clutch positions, a compact and ergonomic shape and an integrated LED light. Again, its 650 RPM and 115 pounds of torque isn’t going to blow you away, but it’s perfectly adequate for jobs around the house.

So which drill should you buy? Well, it’s important to consider what type of work you’re going to need it for. If it’s just casual, household work, then you may not want to invest a whole lot. However, if you need it for work work, then having plenty of speed, torque and batteries, is going to be crucial.
