He followed that up with starring roles in “Jurassic World”, one of the highest grossing films of all time (no big deal) and “Everything, Everything”.
#5: You’ve Seen Him Before
Nick Robinson has actually been around. Still only in his early 20s, Robinson has already appeared in a bunch of films and TV shows. In fact, there is a decent chance you’ve seen him on-screen, without even knowing it! His first film was 2013’s “The Kings of Summer,” a lighthearted indie about a trio of boys coming of age in the backwoods of their hometown. He followed that up with starring roles in “Jurassic World,” one of the highest grossing films of all time, and the YA adaptation “Everything, Everything”. Oh, and he was also up for the role of Gus in “The Fault in Our Stars” but lost out to Ansel Elgort.
#4: He’s From Seattle and Got His Start on the Stage
Ah, the Pacific Northwest, home to Bigfoot, endless rain and Nick Robinson. The Seattle native caught the acting bug at the tender age of 11, when he made his professional stage debut in a production of “A Christmas Carol”. A couple of years later Robinson met with a Hollywood talent scout who was quick to label the youngster both “extraordinary” and “ready for L.A.” Unfortunately, L.A. was not ready for him, as his arrival coincided with the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike. Not one to give up, Robinson returned to Seattle, continued to hone his craft and returned to Tinseltown… and he’s been there ever since!
#3: He Delayed His Education to Pursue Acting
Upon completing high school, Nick Robinson had a decision to make. He could either accept a spot in NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study – a place that would allow him to design his own educational program – or he could defer for a year, and continue acting. When push came to shove, Robinson chose to delay his academic career in order to remain a striver in Hollywood. Trying to decide whether or not you should follow your dreams is by no means an easy decision, but with the amount of success that Nick Robinson has achieved since 2013, we think he made the right one!
#2: He Plays A Cool Instrument
Not content with being merely a talented thespian, this hip young star also plays music. But what instrument does he jam on? Is it a banjo? Trombone? The didgeridoo, perhaps? Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Nick Robinson knows how to play . . . the ukulele! He picked up the ability while he was performing in a play called “A Thousand Clowns” back in his native Seattle. Whether or not we will ever see him demonstrate the skill in a film or TV show remains to be seen, but the mere fact that he knows how to juke a uke is already pretty damn impressive!

Mr. Robinson also starred as Ryder Scanlon during the 4-year run of the ABC Family sitcom “Melissa & Joey”. When that Disney-owned show was on hiatus, he decided to take a starring role in another Mouse House property, the 2012 Disney Channel film “Frenemies,” alongside Bella Thorne and Zendaya. Robinson plays Jake Logan, a science prodigy whose best friend is his dog, Murray. The movie follows three sets of friends – and that doggie – whose relationships are put to the test in wildly different scenarios. Disney’s a star factory, so it’s no surprise that this film eventually helped launch him towards even bigger and better things, including 2018’s rom com “Love, Simon”.
