We’ve been binge-watching YOU – and we can’t wait to see what happens next. Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be discussing everything we know about YOU, season two. Serious spoilers for season one ahead.



YOU season one premiered first on Lifetime in September 2018 and then again on Netflix as an original title in December. This addictive thriller centers on the charming but oh-so-psycho Joe Goldberg (played to perfection by Penn Badgley). The show created instant buzz when it came out on the popular streaming service, with many debating whether Joe, a seemingly nice though secretly disturbed bookstore clerk, was cute or totally creepy. Badgley himself has taken to Twitter many times to remind those crushing on Joe that they may want to find someone less murder-y to lust after. However, he has explained that, scathing tweets aside, the character of Joe was actually intended to give viewers conflicted emotions. Regardless of whether they find Joe swoon-worthy or not, viewers are all united in their desire to see more of his story.



The plot of season two will follow the storyline of “Hidden Bodies,” (the follow-up to the original novel “You” by author Caroline Kepnes). For those fans who can’t wait for the second season’s release later in 2019, Hidden Bodies is currently available to read, with talk of a third book on the way. Based on what happens in the book, viewers should be prepared for big changes to come in season 2. While the first season was set in New York City, season two will see Joe venturing out west to Los Angeles. Given the body count he left in the Big Apple, it’ll be interesting to see how he handles himself in uncharted territory with few familiar faces around to lend a hand (although, for those who survived the first season, that’s probably in their best interest).



Since Elizabeth Lail's Guinevere Beck sadly did not survive her brush with the obsessive book clerk, she will not be returning for season two. And while there is no confirmation on Shay Mitchell, it doesn’t look good for her character Peach Salinger either – although that doesn’t mean the consequences for Peach and Beck’s suspicious deaths won’t catch up with Joe later on. One character we could see more of is John Stamos’ Dr. Nicky. Framed for Beck’s murder, therapist Dr. Nicky finds himself arrested before the end of season one. But jailed is not dead, and there are rumors that he might return yet, with Sera Gamble, the series' showrunner, commenting that they’re exploring the potential and unfinished storylines his character still holds.



With more than one loose end to tie up, season 2 promises to delve deeper into Joe's past. We got glimpses of Joe’s seriously messed up upbringing and his relationship with Mr. Mooney, the old bookstore owner, throughout season one. According to Gamble, this relationship will be more deeply fleshed out in the upcoming episodes, providing audiences with a bit of understanding for Joe and his warped state of mind. But Mooney is not the only puzzle piece from Joe’s history we’re eager to see worked out.



One of the biggest surprises came at the very end of season one with the reveal that Candace, Joe’s ex-girlfriend, was not dead as audiences had been led to believe. Her appearance raises a lot of questions. Does she know about Joe’s murderous tendencies? Where has she been? How will they interact now that she’s back? One thing is for sure: we’re looking forward to seeing all this and more in season 2.
