Mon Dieu!
You only need to turn to the pages of history to see that while on the precipice of the French Revolution, the Parisian courts were rife with intrigue, scandal and deadly mischief. As a result, it’s gone on inspire plenty of books, TV series, films and even a classic anime series!
Now it seems that video game developers are also getting in on the action, inspired by both the history and its loose adaptations.
According to an article on Crunchyroll –
If you’re a fan of Rose of Versailles but always wanted to get a little more hands-on, we may have just the Kickstarter for you.
Ambition: A Minuet in Power is an upcoming procedurally-generated otome game (yes, you read that correctly) in which you play a French commoner named Yvette with her eye on a better life. You’ve won the heart of a baron, but by the time you go to meet him in Paris after your engagement, he’s mysterious disappeared.
That’s not going to stop you, though. Now it’s your job to navigate your way through Parisian high society by charming the right people, seducing the nobles, and maybe sinking a few reputations along the way. You’ll also have to watch your head — because nobility won’t fare well in a few years.
And because the game is procedurally generated, each playthrough will be slightly different. What works, and how the French Revolution fares, will be a mystery every time you start the game.
The game is expected to launch in 2018, provided it meets its goal. Gamers who help make it to their $60,000 goal (and beyond) can get perks like digital and physical copies of the game, shirts, the soundtrack, and early access. Big spenders can also appear in the game to the tune of $1,000.
