How Will It Compare To The DCEU?
While there are undoubtedly some who will disagree, when it comes to the 2016 live-action Suicide Squad film, the overall consensus seems to be that not only did it fall woefully short of expectations, but it also lacked the fun and thrills found in its animated equivalent; Batman: Assault on Arkham.Â
Whether or not Suicide Squad 2 manages to fix the problems of its predecessor remains to be seen, but in the mean time we can all look forward to seeing Harley and the gang cause more chaos in the upcoming DC Animated Universe feature known as Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.Â
According to an article on IGN –Â
The cast and synopsis for the upcoming new Suicide Squad animated film, titled Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, have been revealed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film sees the Suicide Squad trying to retrieve a powerful mystical object. Task Force X, which consists of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Frost, Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang and Copperhead, find themselves racing and battling against other villains for the object.
The voice cast includes Christian Slater as Deadshot, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, and Vanessa Williams as Amanda Waller.
Suicide Squad:Â Hell to Pay will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital this spring. For now, the film’s creative team, including the director, are being kept under wraps.
While they too have had their fair share of misfires, the DC Animated Universe is considered to be stellar when it comes to its storytelling and the portrayal of the comic book icons they choose to include. With Assault on Arkham standing tall as one of their best outings, do you think this spiritual successor can maintain the high bar? Or will it end up meeting the same fate as the Jared Leto’s Joker?
