Star Trek vs. Star Wars, it’s a rivalry that’s dominated popular culture for decades. Sci-fi fans have endlessly debated over which franchise is superior. Actors from both fandoms have also taken part in the rivalry, although it’s often all in good fun. James T. Kirk himself, William Shatner, recently took a friendly shot at the man behind Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill, over his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On the heels of reprising his most iconic role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Hamill is set to finally receive his own Walk of Fame star on March 8. Hamill expressed his gratitude on Twitter with a message saying, “Can’t say this is a dream come true because I was never foolish enough to think something like this could ever happen. When part of me doubts I deserve such an honor, I remind myself that someone got a ‘Star’ for just one crappy reality show.”

Shatner, who already has a star at 6901 Hollywood Blvd., was thus inspired to simultaneously congratulate and mock his fellow star.
His tweet hilariously read, “Congratulations! BTW ask for a star on the south side of the street. Iâm on the north side and donât want to devalue the neighborhood.”

Hamill could tell that Shatner was only joking, but he wasn’t about to let old Bill off the hook so easily.
He also took to Twitter, responding, “Thanks, Bill. It wouldn’t be as special without a classic Shatner-burn from you! Live Long, But Get Lost.” Hamill closed out the tweet with a heart emoji, as well as his initials.

If their tweets prove anything, it’s that the Star Trek vs. Star Wars debate is pretty childish at its core. As long as we maintain a certain level of respect, though, it’ll always be fun to see these two franchises clash in a literal “Star” war.
