Two things that make Akiza Izinski the most unique female duelist: 1, she had psychic powers & has the ability to make monster cards real, and 2, she was actually the only one who summon a main protagonist's ace monster in crucial situations.
Mai was underrated in terms of favoritism towards the male dominated characters of the show. She had a significant amount of depth and growth throughout the show. She also had one of the first tribes of the card game.
