Resident Evil Revelations: Everything You Should Know

Familiar faces return to battle a terrifying new threat. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re filling you in on everything you should know about Resident Evil Revelations.

Developed by Capcom, and released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, the latest entry in the survival horror series tells a story set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5. Set in 2005, Revelations is centered on the exploits of the BSAA, aka the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance co-founded by Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

The story is focused on a mysterious masked man who operates a terrorist organization called “Il Veltro”, Italian for “The Greyhound.” This group has begun conducting bio organic weapon attacks, leaking the all-new “T-Abyss Virus.” This is a marine-based viral strain based on the original T-Virus, which now infects one fifth of the world’s waters.

In terms of locations, Revelations is set in Europe, including a port town, snowy mountainside and infected cruise ship caught up in a storm. Revelations takes place in two alternating halves, as Jill and her partner Parker conduct missions together, while searching for Chris and his teammate Jessica, who have lost contact with HQ.

In terms of gameplay, Revelations offers two standard control options. Players will have the option to purchase and use the Circle pad pro attachment, or get by with its standard single analog control scheme.

Taking a sharp turn from the changes being made on the home consoles, this portable spinoff returns to the survival horror gameplay of earlier installments. This is based on having a limited supply of ammunition, as well as a focus on exploration and puzzle solving. Despite its return to roots, the game’s camera maintains the modern over-the-shoulder view, and includes an optional first person perspective for precision aim.

The game also features impressive environmental effects, as well as a feature that adapts in game events based on the skill of the player.

In addition to the usual assortment of items, including guns, knives and medicinal herbs, Revelations features the use of a special scanner. Using this, players will be able to search for hidden items within the level, and learn more about the enemies.

Adding to the game’s replay value is its brand new Raid Mode. This offers players a series of solo and coop action missions separate to the campaign. In it, you must defeat enemies in order to level up and gain more powerful weapons.

An atmospheric journey for the Nintendo 3DS, Revelations continues to scare and intrigue with its characters and story, while having us conserve each and every bullet to survive.
