#10: Anyone From “GLOW”

Top 10 House of the Dragon & Game of Thrones Costumes

This hit Netflix series which was released in the summer of 2017 brought us inside the compelling world of women’s wrestling in the mid-80s. The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are a diverse bunch, so no matter your skin tone or body type you’ll probably be able to find a favorite character to emulate. Whether you want to perm your hair into oblivion or just rock that sexy iridescent lycra, this costume is a great one for DIY enthusiasts. Thrift stores will be your best friend when you’re searching for all the elements of this costume. And don’t forget to have fun with your makeup!

#9: Queen Elizabeth II From “The Crown”

Comparing the 3 Performances of Queen Elizabeth II on The Crown

“The Crown” has become one of the most talked about TV shows since it began airing in 2016. While a young Queen Elizabeth II may not be an obvious pick for a Halloween costume, it’s perfect for the understated lady who doesn’t want to go too far outside her comfort zone. And who doesn’t want to be queen for a day? Whether you want to recreate her wedding gown, her coronation outfit or just her everyday look, you have tons of options for this fun period costume.

#8: Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccinos

We can pretty much guarantee this trend will be dead by the time 2017 comes to a close, but why not give it one last hurrah before year’s end. The unicorn look has been everywhere this past year, from clothing to makeup to food. It reached peak insanity when Starbucks unveiled their limited edition “Unicorn Frappucino” this summer. If you want an excuse to go all out with pastels, sparkles and glitter, look no further than this colorful and girly pick. You could go as a regular unicorn, but dressing up as the beverage itself will undoubtedly garner you some laughs.

#7: Offred From “The Handmaid's Tale”

Stand up to the patriarchy in this politically charged costume! One of the most popular and topical shows of 2017 has already inspired people to use its costumes- even before Halloween. Many protesters have put on the iconic red robes of the Handmaids when standing up for women’s reproductive rights. Of course, it’s also a great pick for a costume party, and it’s relatively easy to put together. You just need a red cloak and a white bonnet or headpiece, both of which can be DIY’ed pretty easily.

#6: Pennywise From "It"

If we could place a bet as to what the most popular costume of 2017 will be, this one would be a no brainer. “It” is by far the biggest horror film of the year, and in fact it is already the highest grossing of all time. As a last minute pick, a Pennywise costume will surely be easy to find at your local costume shop but it’s also possible to create this one yourself. If you’re a makeup maven, there are tons of tutorials out there on how to recreate this creepy clown’s look.

#5: Anyone From “Game of Thrones”

Also in:

Top 10 Reasons to Rewatch Game of Thrones

This show may have been around since 2011, but it’s not going away anytime soon. HBO’s epic fantasy series “Game of Thrones” offers a wealth of costume ideas, though admittedly by this point some may be a little overdone. We’ve seen plenty of Khaleesi costumes over the years as well as a couple of Jon Snows, but you’ll be sure to stand out if you focus on characters who have come into their own in the latest seasons. If you’re a redhead, throw on some furs over a pretty dress and you’ve got an instant Sansa costume. If you have a pixie cut maybe opt for Queen Cersei.

#4: Anyone From “Riverdale”

Also in:

Top 10 Female Villain Costumes in Cartoons

This hot CW show surprised audiences with its fresh take on the classic story of the Archie comics. Rather than sticking strictly within the confines of the standard plotlines, “Riverdale” makes everything darker and more mysterious. If you want to dress up like your favorite character, you won’t have to put in too much effort since none of their looks are very elaborate. Try some temporary red dye if you want to go as Archie, some cat ears if you want to be Josie and something prim and proper if Betty is your inspiration. Jughead might be the easiest of them all- a simple beanie will do it.

#3: Anyone from “Stranger Things”

Top 10 Things You Missed in Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1

2016’s breakaway hit is back for a second season this year and you can be sure you’ll be seeing a lot of costumes from this sci-fi adventure show come the end of October. “Stranger Things” provided plenty of characters that you can dress up as, be it Dustin, Eleven, or Barb. An Eleven costume is simple yet effective with only a pink dress, a blonde wig and a box of Eggos being everything you need. The best part is, season two is airing just in time for Halloween.

#2: Belle From “Beauty and the Beast”

It may be a tale as old as time, but this story got a revival in 2017 that brought back many fond childhood memories. Belle is one of the most badass Disney “princesses” and if you’re a bookworm, you’ve likely idolized her for your whole life. You’ve got two clear options when choosing your Belle outfit. You can go for the understated blue dress with white apron that the character wears at the beginning of the film when she’s just a simple townswoman, or you can go all out with a yellow ball gown. While the latter may be more of a challenge to create, the end result will undoubtedly be magical.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Dolores From Westworld

Giraffe

Mantis From “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

#1: Wonder Woman

Top 10 Craziest Masked Singer Costumes

The movie of the summer is set to become the Halloween costume of the year. After seeing Gal Gadot kick butt for two hours, we all wanted to be “Wonder Woman”, and the time of year has finally come where we’ll get our chance. If you’re going to DIY this, you’d better start soon because recreating Gadot’s look from the 2017 film is no easy task. If you want to opt for the classic comic book version though, this is a project that’s doable even for beginners. If all else fails, grab a costume online and call it a day.
