10 BEST Armor Sets in Black Myth: Wukong
Welcome to Mojoplays, and today we’re looking at the ten strongest outfits you can find in “Black Myth: Wukong”. Be warned, there may be spoilers ahead, and we’re also ignoring the defense value, since all sets will have roughly the same defense when fully upgraded.
Yaksha Outrage Set
Our first pick is for the Yaksha Outrage Set, craftable at any shrine after defeating the mischievous Red Boy. It could be the most stylish in the game, making the Destined One look like a relative of the Bull Demon King himself. Its unique effect is to massively increase attack power when you’re on low health, with the two-piece bonus strengthening your Pillar Stance, and the four-piece bonus giving you 25% extra attack power. This comes with a price however, which is a 30% increase in damage taken, turning you into a glass cannon. It pairs wonderfully well with the Dark Iron Staff, and can be one of the highest damage builds in the game.
Ebongold Set
Next is the three-piece Edbongold armor set, which you can craft any time after defeating the Black Bear Guai, Chapter 1’s final boss. Its leg piece has a nice unique effect, which gives a 10% damage boost to Cloud Step’s unveiling strike. The three-piece bonus also improves your Cloud Step, by creating a shrouding black wind that will attack enemies nearby you and your decoy during Cloud Step. Once upgraded to a mythic rarity, it gains an additional bonus, getting rid of the timer for your Cloud Step decoy. It’s not the most amazing ability, but it’s strong enough to be in our ten favorites.
Golden Set
Once you’ve braved the New West and completed Chapter 3, you can craft the Golden Set at any shrine. The headpiece has a unique effect that grants massive focus when you successfully hit someone using a spirit skill. This combines amazingly well with the two-piece bonus, which increases damage by 15% when you use a spirit skill or vessel. Its four-piece bonus is where it shines, since it grants you Qi when you land a critical hit or defeat an opponent. The combo potential of this set is insane, for example, you can use the Plantain Fan vessel and the Opana Bat to completely freeze a boss.
Iron Set
The Iron Armor Set is completely focused on the Rock Solid spell, and gives an excellent boost to your Rock Solid Deflections. Crafting this hefty-looking set is unlocked after defeating the Yin Tiger in the Zodiac Village. The Iron-Tough Gauntlets have a unique effect, which gives you a significant damage boost to your next attack after a successful Rock Solid Deflection. The two-piece bonus improves the focus gain provided by the Nick of Time perk, then the four-piece bonus reduces the Rock Solid cooldown upon a successful deflection. It’s immensely powerful for Rock Solid users, but if it’s not your preferred spell, give this set a miss.
Bull King Set
Inspired by the powerful deity the Bull Demon King, once the sworn brother of Sun Wukong, the aesthetic of this armor is phenomenal. It’s unlocked once you eliminate the Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast, Chapter 5’s secret boss. You will need to enter New Game Plus to acquire all the materials to craft it, but it’s well worth the effort. The mask lets you gain focus when taking damage, which is amplified when staggered. The two-piece bonus grants defense when damaged, and the four-piece disables the perfect dodge, but grants tenacity when health is below half. Tenacity is an ability that increases defense, and prevents staggering, making it a highly useful gear set.
Galeguard Set
If you’re a perfect dodge connoisseur, then the Galeguard set is ideal for you. It’s completely centered upon perfect dodging, and can be unlocked after the Chapter 2 fight with the Stone Vanguard. The legs allow you to regain mana when performing 3 Perfect Dodges in a row, which is amazing, since mana regeneration is so scarce. Its two-piece bonus gives you even more focus from perfect dodging, and then the four-piece bonus reduces the cooldown for all spells after a perfect dodge. When upgraded to mythical rarity, it gives you significantly more invincibility frames when dodging, making it even easier to activate its abilities.
Centipede Set
Our next outfit offers a high-risk, high-reward playstyle, which is entirely built around poison. The Centipede Set can be crafted anytime after finishing Chapter 4, that means after killing the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master. It has five pieces in total, with the chest piece having a unique effect, which increases attack after defeating an enemy. The fifth piece is the secret, alternative Venomous Armguards, which inflict poison upon landing a critical hit. The two-piece bonus reduces the poison damage taken, and the four-piece conversely increases your attack when poisoned. It can be difficult to maintain a constant poisoned state, but if done properly it can pack one of the biggest punches in the game.
Bronze Set
Elder Jinchi is the secret boss of Chapter 1, unlocked by ringing three bells scattered across Black Wind Mountain. After defeating this big headed enemy, you can craft the Bronze Set, which gives massive bonuses to the Immobilize perk, Evanescence. The perk activates when you immobilize an enemy right before their attack lands, shown by a silver aura. The two-piece bonus also grants you extra damage when you crash an enemy's immobilization, and then the four-piece bonus reduces the Immobilize cooldown when this happens. It’s extremely effective for Immobilize fans, but if it’s not your spell of choice, don’t bother crafting it.
Pilgrim Set
One of the first armor sets you’ll find in your journey is the Pilgrim set, which grants some amazing bonuses to sprinting. You can craft it once you reach the Guanyin Temple Shrine in Black Wind Mountain. It needs to be upgraded to remain viable, but the bonuses are worth it. The headband lets you use the gourd while sprinting, the two-piece bonus lets you sprint faster, and the four-piece bonus stacks attack while sprinting. To explain fully, if you sprint for 10 seconds, your next attack will have a 100% damage bonus. It’s lost right after you stop sprinting, but still massively strong. Its mythical bonus might be the best in the game, building up focus when sprinting.
Monkey King Set
This list would be incomplete if we failed to mention the Monkey King Set, which all players should unlock during Chapter 6. You can easily argue that it’s the coolest-looking outfit, reflecting the iconic look of Wukong. It increases health, mana, and stamina by 30 each. Alongside this, its three-piece bonus gives you an increased critical hit chance after casting a spell. If paired with Jingubang, then you will unlock the five-piece bonus, which reduces all spell cooldowns after a critical hit. Jingubang also prevents your 4th focus point gauge from depleting over time, which is a game changer. It’s probably the best late-game armor, and it requires no upgrades, since it's already mythical rarity.
