Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we're counting down our picks for 10 Easter Eggs in "Cyberpunk 2077"! For this list, we’re looking at our most favorite Easter eggs within CD Projekt’s newest game. Which Easter egg was your favorite? Be sure to let us know in the comments below! Oh, and here’s a big SPOILER WARNING for you!

Judy’s a Fan!?

As you explore Night City, you’ll receive calls from various characters, and most of them are presented with their own Caller ID image. Of them all, Judy’s is the most striking as her’s references a legendary franchise. When she calls, her caller ID shows an image of an adorable ghost rising from inside of a seashell. ...Get it? It’s a ghost in a shell? “Ghost in the Shell”? Either Judy has no idea what “Ghost in the Shell” is or she’s a huge fan. Either way, it was cool to see a respectful nod.

Night City is loaded with vibrant night clubs and flashy adverts, but there is one place you may want to visit if you’re a “Blade Runner” fan. In the Pacifica district, you may stumble upon a place called Batty’s Hotel. This is named after “Blade Runner” antagonist Roy Batty, played by Rutger Hauer. The reference and its location make sense given how Pacifica is a lawless district on the verge of pure anarchy and Batty is a violent psychopath. It would only make sense for him or a follower to set up shop here!

Cyber Punking, Starring Norman Reedus

With Hideo Kojima making an appearance in the game, this next easter egg wasn’t all that surprising, but it was still cool nonetheless. During a mission called “The Hunt”, you’ll have to break into a clinic. Go up the fire escape and enter the window on the second floor to find a BB. Yep, it’s a straight-up BB, and when you scan it, the game directly references it as such. It even name drops BTs! Whether you liked or disliked “Death Stranding”, it’s still a neat find in such a massive game.

Inside the Afterlife, the nightclub bar for fixers and mercs, you’ll find a character named Dennis who will offer you a job with not a lot of details. This’ll open up the mission “Big in Japan”. When you return to him at the end of the job, he’ll introduce you to his friend, a Japanese brain surgeon who successfully took out an infamous yakuza boss. This is an Easter egg of an episode from “The Office” where Darryl befriends a Japanese surgeon. Of all the references to be made in a game like “Cyberpunk”, we never expected “The Office” to get a nod!

JC & Little Smoke

This one is going WAY back! One of the many shards you can pick up contains a conversation between two characters named JC and Little Smoke. If you couldn’t tell by the end of the conversation, this conversation comes from “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” where CJ and Big Smoke have to chase a rival gang fleeing on a train. To make this Easter egg better, you can find JC and Little Smoke’s bodies, and close to them lies Smoke’s order from the drive-thru - a large number 9. What a waste of good food…

The folks at CD Projekt must be big fans of “Mortal Kombat” because there are a couple of references made to the fighting game franchise. Not only is there a character dressed as and named “Scorpion”, but we have a sneaky feeling this is the real Scorpion. In the mission “I’ll Fly Away”, V will have a heartfelt conversation with Mitch regarding Scorpion’s death. As thanks, he’ll hand you his “good luck charm”. Mitch supposedly has no clue what the figurine is, but it’s obviously Scorpion from “Mortal Kombat”. You can’t fool us, CD Projekt, even if you admit it’s a knockoff ninja!

Stephen King’s Cyberpunk 2077

This one might be a little easier to miss if you weren’t paying close attention. During the first mission in the game, “The Rescue”, your character and Jackie break into Room 1237. And what do you find? A dead naked woman in a bathtub. Did you get the reference? Take out the “1”, and you get a callback to “The Shining”, which sees little Danny heading into Room 237 and finding a dead naked woman...in a bathtub. Had Jackie been wearing a sweater with a NASA ship on it, we’d probably be drowning in “fake moon landing” conspiracies.

For this one, you’ll need to head into the Aldecaldos’ camp, which is located in the Badlands. You can find a shard containing a review for a game called “No Life 3”, which sees a character named Baron Freimensch fighting aliens with a crowbar alongside a woman named Alice. Yep, this is a reference to the “Half-Life” series, and according to the review, the wait for this was fifty years. So, let’s see… We had “Half-Life: Alyx” in 2020, so we won’t be seeing “Half-Life 3” until 2070. Come on, Valve! Even CD Projekt is telling you to hurry it up!

Okay, now for a goodie you can find without worrying about linked accounts. However, this Easter egg can only be found if you chose the Corpo lifepath! During the prologue, you’ll be able to check out your desk and office. Open one of V’s desk drawers, and you’ll be able to spot an issue of Retro Gaming magazine. On the front is our darling Ciri, and the magazine has named “The Witcher III” as Game of the Month. We were expecting something a bit bigger after Ciri mentioned a world of metal in the third game, but we suppose this is nice, too.

Strike a Pose!

This one is arguably the best in the whole game. Enter Photo Mode, and you’ll be able to pose V in a variety of ways. However, only the nerdiest of nerds will be able to get every single reference from these poses! You have poses from “Dark Souls”, “Sailor Moon”, “South Park”, “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure”, “James Bond”, the 2019 “Joker” movie, “Titanic”, and many, MANY more. You can even pull off the same breathtaking pose Keanu made at “Cyberpunk’s” briefing back at E3 2019! Crossing our fingers that more get added in the future!
