Welcome to MojoPlays and these ARE the best new abilities you’re looking for in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. For this list, we’ll be looking at some of the newest and most powerful abilities Cal can unlock and use in his fight against the Empire and all who stand in the way of a Jedi Knight. What’s your favorite new ability in Jedi: Survivor? Become one with the Force and let us know down in the comments.

Stances

With 5 stances to choose from, everyone is going to have their own preferred playstyle, but we still wanted to highlight some of the strongest and most versatile new abilities for each stance to give you the best fighting chance against whatever stands in your way. For those who prefer the old school Single Blade, we definitely recommend the Dash Strike to close the gap and deliver a powerful jab at your target. The Double Bladed Rising Storm will send Cal into a tailspin and pull enemies into his deadly vortex. Dancing Blades for Dual Wield will send Cal’s lightsabers ping ponging off multiple targets. Quick Draw, for those who love their blasters, will target multiple enemies at once for rapid fire hits. And finally, for the Kylo Ren fans out there, Sundering Swipe will give Cal some much needed breathing room with a single powerful swing.

Confusion Mastery

One of the Jedi’s most versatile tools is the ability to manipulate the weaker minded and control what they want them to believe. While Cal didn’t have this useful ability in Fallen Order, his skills have grown exponentially in the last five years, and he can now Obi-Wan his way into the minds of those who try to resist him. The best use of this ability is to turn foe to friend and have them fight by your side. Not only is this a useful ability for evening the odds, but it can also be used on wildlife who in most cases are far more powerful than the rest of the forces standing in Cal’s way. Confusion Mastery allows Cal to manipulate even the most Force-resistant enemies onto his side, leading to often room clearing battles in which Cal never even needs to ignite his saber.

Soaring Lift

As Cal’s journey continues, he’ll be able to tap into the Force even further and learn even more useful abilities that help him navigate the environment, but these new powers can also be redirected at the opposition as well. Using the Lift ability, Cal can turn once powerful adversaries into leaves on the wind suspending them in midair while he either takes potshots at them or deals with what remains of the enemies in his path. By upgrading to Soaring Lift, Cal can lift not only the target right in front of him but also anyone else unfortunate enough to be standing nearby.

Power Slam

What goes up must come down. Not only is the slam ability helpful for opening new pathways and dealing with those annoying turrets, it can also apply some much needed pressure to the empire. Cal can slam enemies into the ground to halt their advance. And if he pairs the upgraded Power Slam ability that affects multiple foes with Soaring Lift, he can technically wipe out many lower-level enemies without even breaking a sweat. This combo is also by far one of the most satisfying things to do as a Jedi within the game and never gets old.

Perfected Stim Formula

While Jedi: Survivor is by no means Dark Souls-level of difficulty, even on the moderate difficulties, Cal will be fighting for his life on more than one occasion. One of the earliest upgrade paths to focus on is undoubtedly those associated with Cal’s health and his stim canister. With the Perfected Stim Formula, BD’s stims will recover more health to ensure Cal stays in fighting shape and with the Teamwork skill, it takes BD less time to send Cal a much needed stim which in the heat of battle can often mean the difference between life and Force Ghost.

Wrenching Pull

Cal will oftentimes find himself overwhelmed with enemies on all sides and instead of running from one side of the arena to another to take them on, Wrenching Pull allows Cal to bring the fight to him and instantly close the gap. Using the Force, Cal will pull multiple lower-level enemies up close and personal to deal with all at once which is especially helpful against the often multiple B1 Battle Droids which can easily be taken out with one good swing. There are some downsides to this ability so be careful who you pull in as some will lunge with an attack already prepared to knock Cal off his feet.

Howling Push

On the flip side, sometimes you just need a little space and while Cal’s basic Force Push will often do in a pinch, upgrading to the Howling Push will guarantee Cal the breathing room he desires. With the Howling Push, not only can Cal clear the immediate area, but he can also knock back some of the much larger enemies, often opening them up for a quick counterattack before they can recover. This is also especially useful against anyone foolish enough to be taking in the sights from one of the game’s many cliffsides.

Channeled Energy

While Cal’s use of the Force is by far one of the most useful tools in the Jedi’s arsenal, its powers aren’t infinite, and Cal will often find himself unable to tap into the Force in a moment of crisis while the bar slowly refills itself. However, with the Channeled Energy skill, every time Cal defeats an enemy, he will regain a small amount of Force power. While this doesn’t mean Cal has somehow tapped into a source of unlimited power, it does mean that those moments when Cal’s back is against the wall with no connection to the Force will be fewer and farther between.

Extended Hold

Arguably one of the best new abilities Cal has learned in the five years since Fallen Order has to be the Slow ability, and amazingly it’s unlocked right from the start of the game! However, as powerful as this ability is and as much strategic depth as it adds, allowing Cal and the player the time to choose who to focus on first, it can always be improved upon. By upgrading Cal’s Slow to Extended Hold, not only are enemies frozen in place for a longer period of time, but Cal’s first hit against a frozen foe won’t break the slow effect on them which in some cases can instantly kill many fodder enemies and allow Cal to clear an entire battle before the enemy even knows they’ve been defeated.

Redirected Strength

Admittedly this one is often more fun than functional in some cases, but Redirected Strength is definitely one of the most “must have” abilities for those looking to fully tap into their Jedi potential. Using Redirected Strength, Cal can pull any enemy that has a weapon and turn it against his allies. Using this ability on Heavy Gunner and Flame Troopers is especially useful as their flamethrower and gatling gun respectively can wipe out almost entire platoons with their overpowered arsenals. Sadly, it doesn’t work on droids, so we won’t get to hear the B1 Battle Droids scream apologies to their fellow droids as they endless mow them down. Oh well, maybe in the sequel.
