“Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” is chock-full of great jokes aimed at the original movies! For this list, we'll be looking at instances where the game poked fun at its source material, from memes to low points in the series. Our list includes the "Who Shot First?" Debate, Luke's Blue Milk Obsession, the Stormtrooper Disguises, and more! Was there a “Star Wars” joke we might have missed? Let us know in the comments!
One of the best scenes in Episode IV is when the Millenium Falcon gets captured by Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer. As Luke, Han, and company ambush a couple of Stormtroopers investigating the ship, Vader remarks about a familiar presence he hasn’t felt in a long time. “Skywalker Saga” played this bit up for laughs by having Vader drone on about the feeling as loud, violent noises sound from the ship. The Sith Lord, however, is too distracted to pay any attention and leaves, allowing our heroes to get their disguises together.
Even though Yoda wasn’t so sure about letting Anakin become a Jedi Master, you have to admit there were a few times where Anakin was ostracized by his superiors in humiliating ways. They really did treat him like he was a child, and TT Games noted this while developing “Skywalker Saga”. Anakin has been changed into a giant manchild. Sleeping with a teddy bear, sitting at a school desk in the Jedi council’s room, coloring with crayons in books… It perfectly sums up Anakin’s feelings and how the other Jedi Knights viewed him.
“The Last Jedi” gave us so many horrible moments that shaped the characters we loved into absurd shells of their former selves (more on that later). But who remembers all the Ben Swole-O memes that cropped up after the movie released? TT Games certainly remembered and practically mocks this aspect of Kylo Ren’s character. In addition to teasing about his obsession with Grandpa Vader, “Skywalker Saga” shows Kylo working out or flexing almost all of the time, especially when he’s talking to Rey. It’s a hilarious look back on how much potential Kylo Ren had as a character and how he became as big of a joke as his grandfather.
One of the greatest memes to come from “Star Wars” is the Darth Plagueis story. With how many times it’s been referenced, it’s practically become somewhat of a shaggy dog story. What does it add to the conversation? Where is the value? Well, even Darth Vader has grown frustrated. When both players are Palpatine and Vader, there is a chance that Palps will bring up the story once more. Vader, however, stops him before he can retell the tale.
Granted, this one is a bit more subtle, but holy crud, is it a dark one! Players can talk to an NPC simply named “Starry-eyed Student” and learn of this youngling's ambitions. Seems innocent until you think about what happened to all those Jedi he mentions. Yarael Poof gets Order 66’d, Mace Windu is zapped and thrown out of a window by Palpatine, and Yoda puts himself in exile, goes a bit crazy, and dies of old age. Oh, and that goes without mentioning what became of the younglings in the prequel trilogy.
It’s no secret that Palpatine is the bad guy of the entire franchise. Even in the prequels, he was pulling all the strings, and looking back, it was painfully obvious. “Skywalker Saga” makes it even more obvious throughout Episodes I, II, and III. There are many shots where Palpatine is rubbing his hands in a devious manner, using Death Star merchandise, hiding dark robes and plastic lightning, and smiling a sinister smile when offering “advice”. He almost comes off as a troll, and it’s hilarious to see how everyone is oblivious to the obvious.
As we learn in “The Phantom Menace”, Queen Padmé Amidala held a lot of power and heavily advocated against warfare, making her a target in the political field. With so many folks wanting her head on a platter, one can understand why she would hire people to act as decoys for her. This is brought up twice in “Skywalker Saga” - once towards the end of Episode I where almost all of her decoys expose themselves, and again in Episode II when Jango Fett and Zam Wesell attempt to assassinate her. Honestly, we’re amazed she didn’t have more after that incident.
It’s an age-old question in the “Star Wars” fandom, and it’s kind of gone on for too long; who shot first - Han or Greedo? It’s old hat today. However, “Skywalker Saga” spun it into a criminal investigation. One cutscene in Episode IV shows the two blasting each other at a table before Greedo walks away depressed about his failure to capture Han. Later on, you’ll be able to do a side mission where you must interrogate the locals about the incident. As expected, it’s a fifty-fifty split on who shot first, and the case is left unresolved…just like the real debate.
“Skywalker Saga” not only makes fun of Anakin’s manchild behavior - it even teases his imminent turn to the Dark Side. As we mentioned in our 10 Easter Eggs & References video (go watch if you haven’t already!), Episode II Anakin has an idle animation where his blue lightsaber briefly turns red. There are a few other allusions, though. Owning a Palpatine alarm clock that spouts “do it” on repeat is pretty suspicious. Then, there’s the fact that he colors at his school desk with a red crayon. We’re sure there are many more jokes about Anakin going bad, but we’d be here all day.
This was the funniest jab “Skywalker Saga” has made, and considering how it changes Luke’s character, it was a perfect way to pay tribute to one of the worst character changes in the franchise. Between Episode IV, V, VI, and VIII, there are a few instances where you can spot Luke taking a quick guzzle of that disgusting blue milk or obsessing over it in some other way. For example, Episode VIII actually tasks you with finding his milk bottle in order to progress the story. It’s a painful yet hilarious reminder of what “TheLast Jedi” did to our noble hero. Look at how they murdered ma boi!

Debate, Luke's Blue Milk Obsession, the Stormtrooper Disguises, and more! Was there a “Star Wars” joke we might have missed? Let us know in the comments!
The Stormtrooper Disguises
One of the best scenes in Episode IV is when the Millenium Falcon gets captured by Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer. As Luke, Han, and company ambush a couple of Stormtroopers investigating the ship, Vader remarks about a familiar presence he hasn’t felt in a long time. “Skywalker Saga” played this bit up for laughs by having Vader drone on about the feeling as loud, violent noises sound from the ship. Anakin the Manchild
Flexin’ Fanatic Ben Solo
“The Last Jedi” gave us so many horrible moments that shaped the characters we loved into absurd shells of their former selves (more on that later). But who remembers all the Ben Swole-O memes that cropped up after the movie released? TT Games certainly remembered and practically mocks this aspect of Kylo Ren’s character. It’s a hilarious look back on how much potential Kylo Ren had as a character and how he became as big of a joke as his grandfather.
Have I Ever Told You The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
One of the greatest memes to come from “Star Wars” is the Darth Plagueis story. With how many times it’s been referenced, it’s practically become somewhat of a shaggy dog story. What does it add to the conversation? Where is the value? Well, even Darth Vader has grown frustrated. When both players are Palpatine and Vader, there is a chance that Palps will bring up the story once more. Vader, however, stops him before he can retell the tale.
The Younglings
Granted, this one is a bit more subtle, but holy crud, is it a dark one! Players can talk to an NPC simply named “Starry-eyed Student” and learn of this youngling's ambitions. Seems innocent until you think about what happened to all those Jedi he mentions. Yarael Poof gets Order 66’d, Mace Windu is zapped and thrown out of a window by Palpatine, and Yoda puts himself in exile, goes a bit crazy, and dies of old age. Oh, and that goes without mentioning what became of the younglings in the prequel trilogy.
Palpatine’s InSIDIOUS Intentions
It’s no secret that Palpatine is the bad guy of the entire franchise. Even in the prequels, he was pulling all the strings, and looking back, it was painfully obvious. “Skywalker Saga” makes it even more obvious throughout Episodes I, II, and III. There are many shots where Palpatine is rubbing his hands in a devious manner, using Death Star merchandise, hiding dark robes and plastic lightning, and smiling a sinister smile when offering “advice”. He almost comes off as a troll, and it’s hilarious to see how everyone is oblivious to the obvious.
I Am Queen Amidala!
The “Who Shot First?” Debate
It’s an age-old question in the “Star Wars” fandom, and it’s kind of gone on for too long; who shot first - Han or Greedo? It’s old hat today. However, “Skywalker Saga” spun it into a criminal investigation. One cutscene in Episode IV shows the two blasting each other at a table before Greedo walks away depressed about his failure to capture Han. Later on, you’ll be able to do a side mission where you must interrogate the locals about the incident. As expected, it’s a fifty-fifty split on who shot first, and the case is left unresolved…just like the real debate.
Anakin’s Turn to the Dark Side
“Skywalker Saga” not only makes fun of Anakin’s manchild behavior - it even teases his imminent turn to the Dark Side. As we mentioned in our 10 Easter Eggs & References video (go watch if you haven’t already!), Episode II Anakin has an idle animation where his blue lightsaber briefly turns red. We’re sure there are many more jokes about Anakin going bad, but we’d be here all day.
Luke’s Blue Milk Obsession
