Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re looking at every live-action Marvel Timeline that will play a part in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. Furthermore, we’ll also pick the character we most want to see from each universe. We’ll only include timelines that were either confirmed or heavily implied by the trailers. And if you aren’t caught up on everything Marvel, beware of spoilers ahead. What’s your favorite live-action Marvel Universe? Let us know in the comments below.

The Revised X-Men Timeline

While the trailers made it clear that we’re dealing with the Deadpool that appeared in the first solo films, casual moviegoers may not realize that he’s part of a much bigger universe. In the past, the merc with a mouth has joked about being confused about which X-Men timeline he’s in. But the second movie solved that question with two major jokes. During Deadpool’s time at the X-Mansion, Nicholas Hault’s Beast ensures that he and his teammates don’t meet the merc. Since Nightcrawler didn’t meet Storm until they were adults in the original timeline, his presence here confirms they live in the universe created after history was changed in “Days of Future Past”. The post credits scene of “Deadpool 2” further confirms this fact by having Wade travel over to the original X-Men movie continuity to slaughter the silent version of himself. This merc clearly lives in a world full of mutants.

Since we already know that the merc and his found family will appear in the film, we won’t be signaling any of them out. But it would be great if one of the X-Men made a cameo. Although there are so many to choose from, our top pick would be Evan Peters’ Quicksilver. There’s a ton of potential for jokes with this speedster around. Deadpool could make fun of the time when Peters appeared on Wandavision. Additionally, the merc could ridicule the fact that Quicksilver is constantly injured or removed from the story before the end of the final battle. Bringing in the comedic Peters to trade a bunch of quick jabs with Deadpool seems like a winning formula.

The TVA Timeline

Once upon a time, an agency was created to maintain and protect the existence of a singular universe. If anyone tried to mess around with history or attempted to create a new timeline, the TVA would step in and remove them from the equation. The TVA actively prevented the multiverse from existing until Loki arrived. After the god fought a variant of himself that had nearly been erased and met the man behind the agency, the Asgardian pushed for change. Loki ultimately sacrificed his freedom and isolated himself from everyone to maintain the multiverse. In the wake of this heroic act, the TVA decided they would let alternate worlds grow and thrive.

A member from the agency named Paradox will give Deadpool a mission to accomplish in the 2024 movie. If the merc gets any downtime, we’d love to see him pay the god of mischief a visit. Deadpool could easily pop in to say hi to Loki in a brief scene. The merc could make fun of the god for becoming a full on hero or point out how they’re both breakout Marvel characters. While the cameo doesn’t have to be long, we’re sure that Loki would appreciate the fact that even someone as obnoxious as Deadpool paid him a visit.

The MCU

This universe needs absolutely no explanation. But since this timeline technically exists outside of the TVA, it does deserve its own spot. Trailer images and Deadpool’s fourth wall breaks confirm that he’ll be even more aware of the MCU than he usually is. The only question that remains is who might emerge from that reality to make a cameo. As great as it would be to see an entire Avengers team show up, it might be hard to get a ton of MCU actors in the same room. So, if we had to choose one, we’d go with Captain America himself. Not only did Deadpool personally salute the hero, but the two actors have appeared in each other’s movies. Evans showed up in “Free Guy” before Reynolds returned the favor in “Ghosted”. We’d love to see these two combine their comedic powers for a Marvel film. If Deadpool could poke fun at the fact that Chris Evans previously played Johnny Storm, that would be the cherry on top of the team-up.

The Wolverine Variant’s Universe

In a surprising and pleasant twist, it was revealed that Hugh Jackman would play a brand new version of his iconic character. While we don’t know this Wolverine’s full history quite yet, we know that he’s widely hated in his home universe. Deadpool joked that we could get the details with a flashback. But what if this cliche suggestion wasn’t just a gag? In the famous Old Man Logan storyline, Mysterio uses illusions to trick Wolverine into slaying all the X-Men. The mutant only realizes what he’s done when he sees a deceased Jubilee in his arms. If the movie follows this backstory, then bringing in the firework powered mutant would be a strong move. Although seeing a live-action Jubilee die at Wolverine’s hands in a flashback would be dark, the scene would make us fully understand his motivations and reluctance to try to save lives. The “Deadpool” movies have balanced hard-hitting trauma and comedy before. We’re certain they could pull it off again with what would be the film’s saddest cameo.

A Grab Bag of Pruned Universes

Before the agents of the TVA had a change of heart, they had a habit of sending time-travelers to a place known as the Void. This strange place eventually became the unwilling home of variants from across the multiverse. It also housed a dangerous creature known as Alioth. As soon as we saw this being in the “Deadpool & Wolverine” trailers, we knew the heroes would visit the Void. But we weren’t prepared for all the cameos that would be involved. In the trailers, we saw that variants of Azazel, X-2, and an elderly Ant-Man would all appear. A villain named Cassandra Nova will also be present. It’s likely that each of them is from a different universe or pruned world. Since the Void is full of variants, we’d love to see the filmmakers take advantage and bring in a famous actor that was almost cast as a Marvel character for a brief cameo.

They could showcase what Emily Blunt’s Black Widow or Glenn Howerton’s Star-Lord would’ve looked like. However, our absolute top pick for a cameo is Tom Cruise’s Iron Man. The rumors that he’d appear in “Multiverse of Madness” as a Tony Stark variant nearly broke the internet. If “Deadpool 2” could get a megastar like Brad Pitt to cameo, we think Disney could pull this off. We think it’s high time that the MCU made fan dreams come true and gave us a glimpse of Tom Cruise’s Iron Man in the void.
