The 10 HARDEST Bosses In Hogwarts Legacy

Trolls
The trolls are the only boss encounters you face numerous times throughout your tenure at Hogwarts, but we’re still counting them all in one entry just for the threat they pose each and every time they cross your path. While they might be lumbering and slow, one false move will mean you get a very up close and personal look at the club they’re usually wielding. Although keeping your distance and taking shots from long range is a sound strategy, many will throw boulders or charge should you get too complacent taking pot shots from afar. The best approach in all encounters is to stay on the move and always keep your strongest magic attacks at the ready, as well as making good use of your Ancient Magic to even the odds.
The Absconder
This one’s gonna be a little difficult for anyone with severe arachnophobia, but by this point you’ll already have needed to brave Jackdaw’s tomb and the many multi-limbed Thornback Spiders, so you should be more than well acquainted with their webbed antics. The Absconder still poses a more substantial threat than its tiny brethren, but also has no qualms with using the smaller spiders as cannon fodder to further distract your student from the real threat. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed by all the skittering critters but the Absconder needs to be the main priority. Watch out for its lunge attacks and try to always keep one of the many obstacles on the battlefield between you and the eight legged freak.
Death
By far one of the most visually impressive moments in the game, after sneaking past the numerous Death Shadows, players come face to face with Death itself. Even though you don’t fight the Grim Reaper directly (and, frankly, how would you kill Death?) the apparition isn’t above summoning his numerous minions imbued with his powers to fight his battles for him. Battling everything from the many Death Shadows and Death Mongrels to the hulking Death Trolls, the monochromatic battlefield can quickly become overwhelming and all of your best dueling skills will be put to the test.
Theophilus Harlow
The right-hand man to Victor Rookwood, Theophilus immediately makes an impression as being brash and impulsive as he attempts to fight the player in the middle of The Three Broomsticks. He finally gets his chance to fight a child, a true display of his character. With Natty by your side, he’s manageable, but is more relentless than players are used to. Deploying various shields, even the Dark Arts have little effect on his health bar. Theophilus will also summon numerous lackeys to fight alongside him, which is apparently a spell only available to the bad guys, and although they don’t pose any real opposition, they can still get in the way of your real threat. Thankfully, players have a large arena in which to do battle, but Theophilus’ resistance to most magic attacks, even Ancient Magic, can make this a prolonged fight.
Fastidio’s Monster
One of the only bosses on our list exclusive to PlayStation players with the Haunted Hogsmeade side quest, it more than makes the list due to its sheer absurdity and challenge. After forcing you to agree to a contract in which Fastidio gets to continue to be a nuisance, he quickly ups the stakes by creating a troll-like abomination out of the numerous debris scattered around the area. Even when you manage to break Fastidio’s toy, he simply rebuilds and ups the ante by sending mannequins after you all while his monster continues its rampage. For the final stretch of the fight, Fastidio flips the script (and the world), and your student finishes the remainder of the fight with not only the battlefield inverted but also the controls. We recommend saving all your ancient magic for the final phase of the fight to speed things up and avoid motion sickness.
Solomon Sallow
Although found at the end of another side quest, the battle against Solomon Sallow is an important one, especially for those wanting to learn Avada Kedavra, and is also a pivotal quest for your companion Sebastian Sallow. Much like many of the other bosses on our list, they didn’t come to this fight alone. Solomon will make use of the near endless Inferi to keep the player in a constant state of defensive maneuvers. Solomon will teleport around the arena making it hard to keep constant track of him during all the chaos. When possible, it’s best to keep your focus on Solomon and dodge his increasingly powerful attacks and only deal with the Inferi when they get too close for comfort. His resistant health bar won’t make this an easy fight, but it’s a necessary one for the sake of your friend.
Victor Rookwood
One of the two main antagonists pursuing our promising young student, Victor is a formidable dark wizard, and his boss fight is nothing to shake a wand at. Victor will first send in his cronies and fodder Ashfinders for you to contend with and put most of your strongest spells on cooldown before he finally joins the fight. His dark wizard companions are much more of a threat than many of the other expendable enemies most boss fights have thrown at you so far, so you can’t really avoid combat with them altogether to focus on Victor like in previous battles. Making appropriate use of your Ancient Magic throw to hurl debris is key to maintaining the upper hand, and calling down the thunder with your Ancient Magic will always score a direct hit and make him think twice about crossing wands with you.
Pensieve Guardian
Although you flee your first encounter, the Pensieve Guardian isn’t done with your student just yet. Another optional encounter, this time during the Percival Rackham Trials, the Pensieve Guardian joins his ironclad brethren to teach you a lesson in finishing what you started. Don’t let his size fool you, the Guardian is surprisingly agile and while some of his attacks might be slow, they are incredibly powerful and can drain your health bar almost instantly if one of them connects. Remaining on the move has never been more crucial as well as choosing your moments to attack. Making smart use of your Ancient Magic attacks will stun the Guardian and give you a brief moment to heal as well as load up your next powerful spell.
Graphorn
Many of the Trials in Hogwarts Legacy challenge not only your puzzle solving skills but your magic abilities as well, and are more often than not bookended with a challenging boss encounter. Yet even by those expectations, the Graphorn will put everything you’ve learned to the test. No matter what manner of fantastical beasties you’ve encountered up to this point, the Graphorn is on another level entirely with its unblockable magic and melee attacks; you'll spend much of this encounter on the backfoot rather than the offensive. There’s absolutely no shame in taking pot shots in between dodges, and spamming your Ancient Magic as soon as the meter fills will at the very least give you a moment of reprieve to make quick use of the rest of your magic catalog. At the end of the battle, you’ll have earned the beast’s respect and will have one of the most intimidatingly impressive mounts in the game.
Ranrok Dragon
As the final boss of the game, the Ranrok Dragon is equal parts impressive and challenging. You’re going to want to go into this one as highly leveled and prepared as possible, so be sure to bring lots of Wiggenweld Potions. Firstly, the Ranrok Dragon cannot even be damaged until you destroy the floating orbs that shroud both him and his health bar in black, and secondly, due to the dragon being what amounts to the Harbinger of Death, your unforgivable curses won’t have much of an effect here. Ranrok’s magic attacks are extremely powerful, and many are completely unblockable, but the few moments when he retreats are the best time to make good use of your stock of Wiggenweld Potions. Eventually, with enough persistence, Ranrok will finally suffer his crushing defeat.
