10 Hidden Secrets in Star Wars Outlaws

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at 10 hidden secrets, references, and activities to partake in while playing “Star Wars Outlaws”!

The Lars Homestead

Upon learning that Tatooine is one of the planets featured in “Star Wars Outlaws”, one might be quick to ask “Can we visit Luke’s house?” Short answer is yes. Long answer is “sort of”. If you expected to encounter a young Luke Skywalker before he became a Jedi, well, that’s mighty optimistic of you. No, Luke’s house has long been torched by the Empire, and by the time you arrive, a couple of scavengers will tell you the place has already been looted. What they fail to tell you is that one container remains, but the lock is quite difficult to pick. Think you can claim the last possession of the Lars Homestead?

Arcade Games

In our video about 10 things to know before playing the game, we mentioned that “Star Wars Outlaws” has two games that can win you some money. But if you want to chill out with a different side activity, well, you might have missed a video game within a video game. “Outlaws” hides a few arcade cabinets across the galaxy, and they are all designed in the style of games from the late 1970’s, wireframes and all. Though you won’t get any kind of reward to aid you in your jobs, earning a high score in any one of these games will net you a trophy/achievement.

The Scarif Cover-Up

While exploring the planet Akiva, Kay comes across a group of rebels being held in a prison and finds one of them recognizes her. The man, Asara, explains to Kay that he joined the rebels as a means to avenge his sister after she was killed during a mission on Scarif. Surprisingly, Kay admits to never even hearing about this, to which Asara reveals that the events of the movie “Rogue One” were all covered up by the Empire. The only ones who really know about the events that took place on Scarif are the ones who were affected.

“I Love Sand!”

We promise this is the last entry related to Tatooine, but the nod was too cheeky to ignore. Mos Eisley is just bustling with the most wretched hive of scum and villainy. Among the scowls and cold stares from others, you might hear one person remark something alarmingly delightful. You might hear one Stormtrooper say to another about how they love Tatooine, more specifically, sand. The absolute audacity! Vader shall have his head!

Unmotivated R5

In the original “Star Wars” movie, Uncle Owen faces a droid problem that was merely a passing remark. His problem with the R5 unit has really been nothing noteworthy to consider…until now. “Star Wars” fans with impeccable attention to detail might have come across a strange R5 unit, one that is suffering from a malfunctioning motivator. This is the same exact problem Uncle Owen had with his R5 unit. While the side quest that follows was a fun one to experience, we have to wonder how wide of a problem this is amongst this particular line of astromechs.

Nix, Play Dead!

You will find all sorts of activities to do with Nix as you recruit the hands you need for your heist. Eat local food, assault guards, commit breaking and entering… And when you want a little target practice, Nix might be a good way to practice assuming you won’t actually pull the trigger on him. Hover your reticle over him long enough, and Nix will pretend as if you shot him. And hey, if you didn’t find four ways to make Nix happy to unlock one of the early abilities, this will count towards that.

Syndicate Vaults

If you’ve been too focused on the main story and haven’t done much for side missions and collectibles, you might want to take a break from the story and at least go for Syndicate Vaults. Each of the four Syndicates have vaults to break into on various planets. Problem is that each vault will be heavily guarded. Assuming you have a good reputation with one Syndicate, you might be able to walk around the outskirts of where the vault might be. However, you’ll most likely have to find your own way to break in without being seen. And before you do that, you will have to hunt down a set of keycards to access them. Trust us, they can be worth your while!

The “Cursed” Booth

Okay, one more Tatooine-related reference. Back in Mos Eisley, head over to the cantina sometime after your run-in with one of the key story characters. Close to the entrance, you might hear two characters argue about a booth. One of them believes the booth to be “cursed” as anyone who sits there is shot. While that may be true, we can think of one smuggler who used the mystical powers of CGI to avoid certain death. So, maybe the pilot is right and it's just another dumb superstition her friend made up.

The Separatist War

On Kijimi, Kay and ND-5 can have an exchange while trying to break into an Amiga territory of the city. ND-5 mentions how he fought in the Separatist War, which is a very specific thing to mention. In a previous video, we explained how the Separatist War was an event that took place in “Star Wars: The Old Republic” on a planet called Ord Mantell after their government sided with the Empire. A few commenters pointed out how that may not be the case and how droids refer to the Clone Wars as the Separatist War. We’ll let you decide how to take ND-5’s comment, though, as it really could be either or.

A Strange Visit From a Familiar Face

Later on in the story, one troubling event leads you to infiltrating Jabba the Hutt’s palace, and there are a ton of Gamorrean guards keeping the place on lockdown (more or less). But while crawling in one of the vents, you might catch a recognizable adversary in one of the rooms. Boba Fett? What in the world is he doing here? Well, it isn’t long before you get your answer. Looks like he just got back from the carbonite chambers and bagged himself a big target.
