Dave Bautista Says BLADE RUNNER 2049 is BETTER than Original – The CineFiles Ep. 20

French-Canadian director, Denis Villeneuve may just shake up the movie world with his latest film Blade Runner 2049. The first reactions to Villeneuve’s sequel are earning almost unanimous acclaim, with critics calling the film a “masterpiece” and even going so far as saying it’s better than the iconic original, directed by Ridley Scott. The film is set 30-years after the events of Scott’s original, where an LAPD officer played by Ryan Gosling goes on a mission to find missing former blade runner, Rick Deckard, to save humanity from a replicant manufacturer played by Jared Leto. The film’s high praise shouldn’t completely come as a surprise, however, as Villeneuve has quickly risen as one of the biggest filmmakers in Hollywood after the successes of Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival. While critics love the sequel, we still have to wait for audience reaction after it’s release on October 6th.

#2: Natalie Portman Stars in New “Annihilation” Trailer

Is it just us, or does this trailer give off major Arrival vibes? Ex-Machina’s breakout director Alex Garland is poised to deliver another sci-fi masterpiece with his latest film Annihilation, which dropped its first trailer, and it looks stunning. The film stars Natalie Portman, who plays a biologist who teams up with other environmental minds to investigate an area called Area X, where some sort of mysterious disaster has taken place. The trailer features some beautiful visuals of ground zero, where the uninhabited land is consumed by a beautiful atmosphere of neon colors; an atmosphere no one yet understands. What else is mysterious, is the fact that Portman’s husband, played by Oscar Isaac, had gone missing from a previous mission to Area X. It’s a stunning, unnerving first look Garland’s newest movie. Before we get to our final entry, here are a couple new releases: “American Made” (2017) “Flatliners” (2017)

James Cameron's AVATAR 2 to be Shown in GLASSES-FREE 3D? – The CineFiles Ep. 27

Remember those Avatar sequels you kept hearing about? Well, James Cameron is finally starting their production, at a price. With a whopping $1 billion, Cameron will take on the challenge of shooting four Avatar sequels back-to-back, edging out Peter Jackson’s feat, when he shot the three Lord of the Rings films in one go. Cameron is going to be an incredibly busy filmmaker over the foreseeable future. In addition to his audacious Avatar plan - which will see him release the four movies in 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025 - Cameron also committed to returning to the Terminator franchise, reuniting Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger for Terminator 6, to be released in summer 2019. While the challenge to film four Avatar’s back-to-back may seem difficult, Cameron is highly experienced with big-budget blockbusters, laying claim to the two biggest grossing movies of all time in Avatar 1 and Titanic.
