Only the best Power Rangers generals can go toe-to-toe with our heroes.
Only the best warriors can go toe-to-toe with the Rangers. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Power Rangers Generals.
For this list, we’re looking at some of the most memorable villainous warriors, generals and lieutenants to ever to do battle against our favorite color-coded heroes. Just a word of warning, many of these diabolical soldiers’ stories are plot-heavy, so expect spoilers ahead. We’ll be considering both characters from television and comics.
#10: Villamax
Before taking over her father’s empire, Trakeena was… let’s face it, a spoiled brat who could barely fight. However, when Villamax came into the picture, he was able to whip her into fighting shape and he eventually joined her crew as her second-in-command. Along with being a master warrior, Villamax brings something not often seen in Power Ranger villainy – a sense of honor. He never attacks those that are helpless (especially children), he actually holds up his end of bargains, and he doesn’t approve of underhanded tactics –such as sacrificing foot soldiers. Unfortunately, Villamax’s most admirable trait ended up being his undoing when an unhinged Trakeena betrayed him in the finale – disappointing her mentor with how little she learned.
#9: Zeltrax
How does Tommy Oliver manage to make so many enemies? This particular villain was once a former colleague named "Smitty" until a lab accident left him horribly injured. Upon discovering the poor young man’s mangled body, Mesosog rebuilt him as Zeltrax –a cybernetic knight fueled by vengeance. Not only is Zeltrax incredibly persistent, but he’s extremely strong and resilient to boot; even if he gets destroyed, he’s likely to just come back angrier than ever. The character at first treats Mesogog like a father, but his drive to destroy Tommy trumps all else, leading him to betray his creator.. Sadly for Zeltrax, all these efforts end in failure.
#8: The Ranger Slayer
In an alternate universe where Tommy became the tyrannical Lord Drakkon, Kimberly is brainwashed into becoming his ultimate warrior – the Ranger Slayer. With her Bow of Darkness and the mighty Gravezord, she travels back in time and ends up brawling with the younger, less experienced Mighty Morphin team - including her past self. Being older and raised in a post-apocalyptic universe, Slayer Kim is easily able to stay one step ahead of our young heroes. Fortunately, for them, Kimberly was able to break her free of Drakkon’s control, and while Slayer Kim will have to live with the guilt of everything she’s done, she proves committed to making amends for past sins by helping to save the Multiverse.
#7: Frax
Frax’s story isn’t a happy one – he was once a human doctor who showed a sickly Ransik kindness when he needed it most. How did the mutant warlord repay him? By mortally wounding him and stealing his technology, that’s how! Fortunately, he was able to rebuild himself as a robot and posed as Ransik’s “loyal” technical advisor, all the while harboring his secret vendetta. Despite Ransik constantly belittling robots, Frax is not to be underestimated – he has a brilliant mind when it comes to inventing, and his hatred makes him dangerously unbalanced. Tragically, in the finale, Ransik reprogrammed Frax into a mindless slave, meaning he lost his humanity - and his life - getting dragged into this cycle of hatred.
#6: Blaze & Roxy Avatars
Originally, Blaze and Roxy were selected to be Grid Battleforce’s Red and Yellow Rangers. However, when the sinister Evox virus infected the system during their test morph, the real Blaze and Roxy were knocked into comas while two corrupt avatars were born. These two are essentially the comatose duo’s dark sides – their worst inclinations and ambitions personified. While some might be tempted to think that there’s good hidden somewhere in them, you’d be sadly mistaken. These two are rotten to the core and devoted to serving Evox. The only way to rescue the REAL Blaze and Roxy is to destroy these diabolical doppelgangers. But with their cunning and fighting prowess, that proves to be a tall order.
#5: Deker
Long ago, Deker was a human warrior and loving husband. Unfortunately, a desperate agreement turned him into a human/Nighlok warrior with no memory of his wife or humanity. Since then, he’s roamed the earth obsessed with finding the perfect opponent to free him from his curse. To Deker, nothing mattered except satisfying his thirst for combat – which was impossible because his swordsmanship skills were essentially unmatched. Thankfully, a duel with Jayden finally ended his suffering –in the most permanent sense. The funny thing about Deker? His actor, Rick Medina, also portrayed Cole, the Red “Wild Force” Ranger; so fans have actually gotten to see him play both sides.
#4: Goldar
As the series’ very first general, Goldar was arguably the most formidable foe that the OG Rangers repeatedly fought – able to hold his own against any one of them, and showing a particular knack for getting in their heads. As time marched on, however, Goldar became less threatening after one too many defeats. Despite steadily losing his edge, his loyalty to his masters is unquestionable… well, when it comes to Lord Zedd, anyway. While he served Rita well, he didn’t think twice about kicking her to the curb when Zedd took over, and became suspicious of Rita once she came back into the picture. And hey… in hindsight, he wasn’t wrong to be.
#3: Koragg, the Knight Wolf
Leanbow was a mighty Mystic Wizard who was seemingly lost to the Underworld. In reality, he was turned into Koragg, loyal minion of the Master. With dark magical abilities and the skills of a knight, he’s among the Rangers’ most formidable foes. However, unlike his fellow baddies, Koragg refuses to fight anyone he deems weaker than him, and doesn’t rely on cheap tricks to achieve victory. He’s more than willing to work with his enemies to keep things fair, but that doesn’t make him very popular in the underworld. Fortunately, near the end, Koragg was able to overcome the Master’s influence, and returned to the light side as Leanbow, the Wolf Warrior.
#2: Ecliptor
Unquestionably one of the fiercest warriors in the universe, Ecliptor is not only skilled in combat, but also a master of illusions and nigh invulnerable. He can be destroyed in one episode, only to brush it off and be ready to fight in the next. The only thing stronger than his might is his devotion to his princess, Astronema. He adopted her when she was a little girl and raised her to be evil. Ecliptor would never forsake Astronema and will make ANYONE who tries to harm her pay –whether it be the Rangers or the only one he hates almost as much as them, Darkonda.
Before we unveil our number one warrior, here are a few honorable mentions.

#1: Tenaya 7/15
Our number one spot managed to make “Farmer in the Dell” sound terrifying. Tenaya was originally programmed to be Venjix’s ultimate spy and general – complete with scrappy combat skills, a detachable spy hand, and a sadistic habit of playing with her “food”. She was convinced that she was fully mechanized until she discovered that she’s actually Dillon’s long-lost sister – separated and enhanced by Venjix. Worst of all, just when Tenaya starts defecting to the Rangers’ side, Venjix reprograms her into an emotionless fighting machine with no memory of the life that was stolen from her. Thankfully, she does get a happy ending – evolving from one of the craftiest, most tenacious soldiers into someone worth saving.
