John Wick will be back and it won’t only be on the big screen. Expert movie assassin Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his role as the titular character on the small screen, as Starz has picked up the rights to turn the successful action franchise into a TV series titled The Continental. Those familiar with the sequel will know that the title comes from the movie’s unique hotel, where assassins and bad guys meet up and hang out. The establishment will be the basis of the show. While Reeves has committed to starring in the show, he will not be the lead character, as a new main character will be entering the seedy, criminal world. The hotel’s manager from the films, actor Ian McShane has yet to be signed on, but according to Slash Film, President of Original Programming for Starz, Carmi Zlotnick hasn’t ruled out the possibility.

The 2018 Sundance Film Festival officially kicked off this Thursday, attracting independent movie fans, producers and distributors from around the world. What many consider the mecca of indie filmmaking, the Park City, Utah festival will showcase 110 movies from 29 different countries. A number of award-winning Sundance films, like Beasts of the Southern Wild, Precious and Whiplash have gone on to perform well during award season, making the film festival a very early indicator of who may bring home some hardware at the end of the year. A few of this year’s films include Beirut starring Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike, Wildlife, with Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal and Gus Van Sant’s Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill and Rooney Mara. The fest will run until January 28th.

#1: Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to Appear in Tom Hardy’s Venom Movie

If Marvel fans weren’t already excited about Tom Hardy filming the new Venom movie, they certainly will be if another web-slinging character makes an appearance. In an interview with Collider, director of the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? Jon Schnepp claims that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man just may be in the new Venom film. If Schnepp – who does have connections in Hollywood ¬– is indeed correct, then this may cause some level of confusion over what does and what doesn’t exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel and Sony teamed up with a limited contract to introduce Spider-Man to the MCU, but that did not include any Venom properties, which solely belong to Sony. So, if Tom Holland’s Peter Parker does show up alongside Tom Hardy’s Venom, what does that mean for the franchise’s continuity? Schnepp does however go on to say this is all speculation, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
