#10: Ahsoka vs. Asajj Ventress “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

Top 10 Ahsoka Moments

There’s nothing quite like a classic Jedi versus Sith showdown - the blazing blades of the warrior monks clashing with the sinister red of their rivals. And the most interesting battles almost always involve someone who’s blurred the line between the two … Asajj Ventress was raised in the ways of the Force by a Jedi, only to turn to the dark side in grief after her master’s death. With this battle coming so early in Ahsoka’s story, she finds herself largely outmatched by the dual-wielding Sith But she still manages to hold her own … at least, for a while.

#9: Ahsoka vs. General Grievous “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

Who is Ahsoka? Full Recap!

As well as introducing brand new characters like Ahsoka herself, one of the best things about the animated series was the depth they added to figures like Darth Maul and General Grievous. Both are bad guys with fascinating character designs who were cut off pretty quickly in the live action films. The Clone Wars really highlights how fearsome a metal-bodied saber-wielder would be, with Grievous making short work of the clone troopers alongside Ahsoka and forcing the young Padawan to flee. Mind you, she does manage to lop off one of his hands first. She should count herself lucky - by the time Grievous took on Obi-Wan, not only did he have that hand back, he was quick to use all four.

#8: Ahsoka vs. Anakin & Obi-Wan “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

Top 10 Ahsoka and Anakin

For the most part, Star Wars is a straightforward battle between the forces of good and evil. But some of its most thrilling moments have come when this is changed up. A prime example is the clash between heroes on Mortis. After The Son kidnaps Ahsoka and infects her with the Dark Side, Anakin and Obi-Wan are forced to do battle with her. Their determination not to hurt her makes this fight especially interesting and provides us with a fascinating “what if?” scenario about what might have been if Ahsoka ever broke bad.

#7: Ahsoka vs. Garnac “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

Important Star Wars Questions ANSWERED in Ahsoka

As she journeys across the galaxy, Ahsoka is constantly underestimated by her enemies thanks to her youth and slight build. When we see her squaring off against Garnac - a fearsome Trandoshan twice her size with a nasty-looking hatchet - she certainly seems like the underdog. She’s unarmed, against an opponent who hunts down people for sport. But this fight just demonstrates the qualities that make Ahsoka such a formidable fighter - she’s fearless, agile and hugely inventive. By combining her quick wits, fast feet and some well-timed force powers, she soon sends the snarling menace flying out the door.

#6: Ahsoka vs. Barriss Offee “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

Throughout The Clone Wars, we regularly see Ahsoka striding into battle against an enemy that she should have no hope of beating. Her relentless optimism and willingness to keep fighting no matter the odds are central to her character. But, when she tussles with Barriss Offee, we see how dangerous this trait can be. Ahsoka is no match for her former friend and quickly finds herself bested by the more experienced Jedi, whose saber skills and Force powers are both far more developed. Heck, she even gives Anakin a difficult fight. It’s an important moment in Ahsoka’s story, serving as a brutal reminder that she still has much to learn.

#5: Ahsoka vs. Pre Vizsla “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

If The Mandalorian has taught us anything it’s that you absolutely do not want to get entangled in the conflicts within this warrior clan. As well as being some of the galaxy’s strongest fighters thanks to their beskar armour and spartan mindset, the Mandalorians also have a deep connection to an ancient black-bladed weapon known as the Darksaber. Ahsoka feels the brunt of both when she takes on Pre Vizsla, the zealous would-be leader of Mandalore. It’s an intense fight and an indication that the world Ahsoka travels in will always be complex - full of shifting alliances and moral grey areas.

#4: Ahsoka vs. the Inquisitors “Star Wars Rebels” (2014-18)

By the time “Star Wars Rebels” catches up with Ahsoka, a lot has changed. She’s on the run thanks to Order 66, working mostly behind the scenes to help the nascent Rebellion. However, her battle with the Inquisitors reveals a couple of important things. One is how powerful she’s become, battling off two highly-skilled opponents at the same time. The other is how deeply she still believes in the essential values of the Jedi as she risks her own life to protect the innocent. She might not be the naive Padawan she was back in The Clone Wars, but this fight proves that the things that make Ahsoka such a great hero are still very much intact.

#3: Ahsoka vs. Morgan Elsbeth “The Mandalorian” (2019-)

“The Mandalorian” has done an incredible job of bringing characters from the novels and animated series to live-action. Nowhere was this more anticipated than with the arrival of perennial fan favourite, Ahsoka. Her battle with the beskar spear-wielding Morgan Elsbeth perfectly demonstrated how formidable a grown-up Ahsoka is, and how incredible her elegant, dual-wielding style looks in a live action setting. When she hands over the spear to Mando at the end, we also get confirmation that she’s still the same honourable hero. This was fans service at its very best - giving fans exactly what they wanted without compromising the story.

#2: Ahsoka vs. Darth Vader “Star Wars Rebels” (2014-18)

Darth Vader strode into the original Star Wars trilogy and immediately became one of the most iconic villains of all time. He boasted such an incredible on-screen presence that we rarely needed to see him unleash his powers to understand how frightened we should be. Since then, we’ve had the chance to enjoy a little more of him in action thanks to the various videogames and films like Rogue One. But by far the most emotionally charged battle comes courtesy of Rebels. Having spent so much time watching Anakin and Ahsoka’s bond develop, it feels truly tragic to see them fighting. This duel was a culmination of their relationship throughout “Clone Wars” and also effectively connected the animated series to the world of the live-action films. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. #1: Ahsoka vs. Darth Maul “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” (2008-20)

No existing Star Wars character gained as much from the animated series as fan favourite villain Darth Maul. We found out the story behind the mysterious Sith, making him more sympathetic while also revealing the depth of his cruelty. He and Ahsoka stage an epic duel in the show’s most visually spectacular action sequence, taking full advantage of the technological leaps since the series’ initial cancellation and ensuring that it ended with a bang. This wouldn’t be Ahsoka’s final battle or even her final battle with Maul - they’d face off again years later in Rebels (xref). But it made for a thrilling conclusion to the series that introduced her to us.
