For this list, we’ll be looking at our favorite Jedi who managed to survive Order 66, including younglings, Padawans, and former Jedi. However, we’ll be excluding characters from Star Wars Legends, and Jedi who turned to the Dark Side before or soon after Order 66. Our countdown includes Ahsoka Tano, Cal Kestis, Quinlan Vos, Kanan Jarrus, and more! Which of these Jedi are your favorites? Tell us in the comments.

#10: Gungi

Few Wookiees join the Jedi Order. Gungi, however, was a top student. He did struggle to learn patience, but made progress during the Gathering, the rite of passage in which Jedi initiates seek kyber crystal for their lightsabers. His own unique weapon had a wooden hilt made from the Brylark tree. Brave even as a youngling, Gungi helped free Ahsoka from Hondo Ohnaka, and faced off against the forces of General Grievous. After becoming a Padawan, he survived Order 66, and is set to appear in the second season of “The Bad Batch”. #9: Jocasta Nu

Proud and protective of the Jedi Archives, Chief Librarian Jocasta Nu wasn’t always the most helpful Jedi Master around … However, she was much more resourceful than she seemed. During the Great Jedi Purge, she leapt into action to preserve Jedi relics and holocrons. Hoping to start a new Jedi school, she even snuck back to Coruscant to retrieve a holocron listing Force-sensitive children. There she clashed with the Grand Inquisitor, who as a Temple Guard had hated her for restricting his access to the archives. Although defeated by Darth Vader, she managed to convince him to destroy the holocron, and accepted her death with true Jedi calm. Her secret vault of Jedi artifacts was later uncovered by Luke Skywalker.

#8: Cere Junda

Cere’s tale of survival during Order 66 is a tragic one. As the Padawan of scholar Eno Cordova, she was impulsive and easily provoked, but attained the rank of Jedi Knight and took on her own Padawan, Trilla Suduri. During Order 66, she tried to lure the enemy away … only to be captured and tortured into giving up Trilla’s location. When she saw that Trilla had become an Inquisitor, Cere tapped into the Dark Side. Suppressing her connection to the Force, she continued to fight the Empire, eventually recruiting fugitive Padawan Cal Kestis to her cause. Despite her story’s tragic notes, it’s also one of persistence and hope.

#7: Quinlan Vos

This maverick Jedi Master has walked some dark paths. His ability to sense the history of objects made him a capable tracker on missions in the criminal underworld. However, Vos was seduced by assassin Asajj Ventress, embracing the Dark Side, and eventually becoming Sith Lord Count Dooku’s apprentice! Only when Ventress sacrificed herself to save him did he return to the light. He was on Kashyyyk during Order 66, but managed to escape. Over the next years, he hid from the Empire with the aid of an underground guerilla movement that smuggled Force-sensitives to safety.

#6: Grogu

Not even Mando could resist Baby Yoda’s charm. As a youngling, a horrified Grogu witnessed Order 66 in the Jedi Temple. Fortunately, he was whisked away to safety. For decades, he hid his power in order to survive, until becoming the Mandalorian foundling of bounty hunter Din Djarin. He also trained with Luke Skywalker, honing his natural Force abilities. Belonging to the same species as Yoda and Yaddle, Grogu has demonstrated strong telekinetic and healing powers. He’s seen dark times, but while not to be trusted around frogs … or eggs … he’s a loyal companion. Survivors have gotta stick together!

#5: Cal Kestis

Cal was a young Padawan when his own clone troopers turned against him. He survived thanks to the heroic sacrifice of his Master, Jaro Tapal. However, the trauma damaged his connection to the Force, and for years, he laid low as a scrapper on Bracca, until former Jedi Cere Junda rescued him from the Inquisitors. Selfless and empathetic, Cal drew people together, and shared Quinlan Vos’ ability to sense personal experiences associated with objects. With faithful droid BD-1 at his side, he healed his connection to the Force and became a Jedi Knight - even surviving a run-in with Darth Vader.

#4: Kanan Jarrus

Born Caleb Dume, Kanan was the Padawan of Depa Billaba until she was killed during Order 66. Suddenly alone in the galaxy, Kanan became a thief and smuggler before joining up with resistance leader Hera Syndulla. Finding a new purpose, he took on an apprentice, Ezra Bridger, and attained the rank of Jedi Knight in a vision. After being blinded by Maul, he had to restore his connection to the Force. His last act was to sacrifice himself for his companions. But no one's ever really gone. Hera later gave birth to their son, Jacen. And the Cosmic Force manifested Kanan’s will as the Loth-Wolf “Dume”.

#3: Yoda

Judge him by his size, do not! The wise and mighty Grand Master lived through almost nine centuries of history, including the fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire. He was on Kashyyyk during Order 66, but sensed the intentions of his clone troopers, and escaped the planet with the help of Chewbacca and Tarfful. After failing to defeat Darth Sidious, he fled into exile, living out his last years on Dagobah, where he trained Luke Skywalker. Even after his death, Yoda’s legacy - and spirit - lived on. Thanks to the teachings of Qui-Gon Jinn, he became one with the Force, and continued to appear in times of need.

#2: Ahsoka Tano

Reckless and stubborn, courageous and compassionate, Ahsoka was just the kind of headstrong apprentice that Anakin needed. During the Clone Wars, ‘Snips’ came into her own, even rescuing her master on more than a few occasions. After being framed for treason, she became disillusioned and left the Order, but still helped Republic forces capture Maul on Mandalore. When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine initiated Order 66, Ahsoka only just survived, using Maul as a distraction to escape with Rex. She hid in the Outer Rim Territories, doing what she could to resist the Empire, eventually joining the nascent Rebellion under the codename “Fulcrum”. Ahsoka is proof that you don’t need to be a Jedi to use the Force for good. Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
