Top 10 Alexis & Ted Moments on Schitt's Creek
#10: Middle Name
“Town for Sale”
It’s early in season one that one of the show’s most iconic arguments is born: when Moira and Johnny can’t remember Alexis’s middle name – and David had no idea she had one at all. It looks like the mystery of Alexis’s name will go unresolved. Until the season finale, that is, when Ted ends up popping the question after only a few weeks of dating. Though this proposal doesn’t exactly end well for him, he does use her full name when he asks. It goes to show just how well Ted knows Alexis even when they’d only been in each others’ lives for a handful of episodes.
#9: Roleplay
“Roadkill”
Alexis doesn't have the best track record looking after David’s things. With no other options though, he leaves her in charge of Rose Apothecary, where she needs to sign for a delivery while he and Patrick are away. Ted shows up and the two of them get a little carried away, trying out roleplay for what seems to be the first time with Ted playing the part of the delivery guy. Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment, David’s brand-new sink in the store’s bathroom gets broken. Despite their smooth cover up, Ted and Alexis are forced to come clean because it turns out there are security cameras that have caught them in the act.
#8: Job Interview
“Moira’s Nudes”
Alexis finds out that the Roses are in debt to Café Tropical, of all places, and Twyla won’t let them put any more food on their tab. While she’s in there drinking the free tea, Ted walks in and quickly finds out about their financial trouble. He doesn’t hesitate to offer her a job at the clinic, but when she shows up, she insists on being given a fair interview like any other candidate. It’s very sweet that he lets her take an interview and still gives her the job even when she doesn’t answer the questions particularly well – she’s not a fan of animals, after all. When she needs help, Ted is there to offer it.
#7: She Agrees to Go to the Galapagos
“The Roast”
In season five, Ted drops the bombshell that he’s applied for a once in a lifetime, six-month research program in the idyllic Galapagos Islands – but he decides he’s not going because he doesn’t want to leave Alexis behind. However, it turns out he’s not giving her much credit and she supports his dreams regardless. That same episode she even agrees to go to the Galapagos with him, even though it’s not really her speed. In the end, she doesn’t actually join him on the trip because she can’t leave her family behind, but their farewell in the season finale was definitely memorable. If anything, Ted loves Alexis more for her embrace of cheesy wordplay.
#6: Drunk Ted
“Housewarming”
Patrick has just moved into a new place and is having a housewarming get-together with a “high school slumber party” theme. This means plenty of teenage drinking games like Never Have I Ever, and Spin the Bottle. Initially, it seems like Ted’s going to be a no-show because he’s snowed under at work – but he doesn’t let Alexis down, and shows up having already drunk all the leftover booze in his apartment. Though she’s not too happy about the way spin-the-bottle goes, drunk Ted is hilarious, especially when he starts calling everybody “big guy,” including Alexis. The night ends with him doing an uncanny impression of her and her catchphrase.
#5: Comforting a Client
“Ronnie’s Party”
It’s Alexis’s first day on the job as Ted’s new receptionist and it doesn’t go smoothly right away. First, she hates the fact she has to wear bright-blue scrubs, second, she shows up late, and third, she has absolutely no experience. But she comes into her own at the end of the day when the cat of one of Ted’s elderly clients has died. She may be new to the office life, but it turns out that Alexis is actually a pro when it comes to comforting people in need. With Doris devastated over the loss of her cat, Alexis is there to help her find the silver lining. The pride on Ted’s face says it all.
#4: Back in Town
“Milk Money”
In a rough patch for the couple, Alexis has to break up with Ted because she cheated on him with Mutt and wants to see how that relationship develops. Ted ends up going on their honeymoon on his own and does a lot of soul-searching. He’s absent for a chunk of season two, but in the eighth episode a charismatic stranger on a motorcycle rolls into Schitt’s Creek right next to Alexis. Surprise, surprise – it’s Ted, with a new bike, haircut, and sense of style. He’s more confident than we’ve ever seen him, and now it’s down to Alexis to win him back after she broke his heart.
#3: Graduation
“Grad Night”
Though Alexis had a lot of growing to do after arriving in town, Ted was there to support her from the moment they met each other. That never changes, and in season three she’s finally able to graduate high school having gone back and earned her diploma. When she finds out she’s passed she and Ted accidentally kiss and things get a little awkward. There’s also the fact that he gives her an expensive pencil that looks like a stick as a congratulations gift. But when she thinks her family didn’t come to her grad ceremony, Ted’s there for her once again, in one of the entire show’s most heartfelt scenes.
#2: Singles Week
“Singles Week”
It was clear back in season two that Alexis was catching feelings for Ted again. Late in season four she finally had to speak her mind – even though he was still seeing Heather. Her confession comes with no strings attached, and Ted doesn’t know how to respond on the spot. But he does break up with Heather. And then thankfully David steps in on Alexis’ behalf, giving Ted a little insight into her honest feelings. Ted arrives at Alexis’s big Singles Week event at the Café to tell her that he feels the same way, and they’re finally back together after so long.

#1: Breaking Up
“The Presidential Suite”
Ted does so well on his research program in the Galapagos that he’s offered a three-year contract to be a permanent part of the team. It’s a choice between Ted turning down the job or Alexis moving to the islands – but no option fits. In the end, Ted and Alexis’s best moment is that they have to break up so that they can let each other be their best selves. They’re completely in love, but need to leave their relationship behind so they can each pursue their dreams. It’s this incredible sacrifice of one of the leading couples that makes “Schitt’s Creek” unlike so many other sitcoms. Most of all, it shows immense growth for both of them.
