Top 10 Anticipated Anime of Spring
Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down the upcoming anime that has us eager for the spring season’s speedy arrival.

#10: “From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman” (2025)

Have we seen this kind of premise before? A thousand times, in the last year alone! But given the adoration for the source material and the crisp animation on display, we’re looking forward to seeing what this fantasy sword-fest has on offer. Despite getting on in years, Beryl is a man who knows his way around a blade, and from the looks of things, is about to educate the new guard on how to handle a weapon. Also, the pseudo-harem is looking next level. Looking at you red-haired muscle mama in the making!

#9: “Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers” (2025)

Few fighting games offer the same kind of flash and anime-awesomeness as Guilty Gear, regardless of its bonkers lore, so the transition from game to series almost feels inevitable. This is very much an anime by fans for fans, on account that it’s actually been created by series originators Arc System Works, and if there’s a studio that knows how to take 3D aesthetics and make them sing – it’s them! Following the events of Strive, it looks like we can expect to see tensions to rise between humans and Gears once more – though let’s be honest – we’re all here for the beat-em-ups! Any excuse to see our favourite characters bust out their Overdrives.

#8: “Anne Shirley” (2025)

You could have given us a million guesses, and not once would we have even considered that a remake of Akage no Anne would be released in our lifetime, but that’s exactly what’s happening. The original series was beloved back in its day, which in turn was an anime adaptation of the classic children’s novel - Anne of Green Gables. At only twenty four episodes long it’s doubtful they’ll be able to cover the majority of the book’s events, but we’re hoping for a whimsical first instalment given how beloved Anne Shirley is as a character.

#7: “Wind Breaker” Season Two (2025)

An unexpected delight of delinquent brawler, Sakura’s introduction into the bro-tastic fellowship of Furin High gave us both hands and feels in equal measure. Now he’s back and it's time to take some ne'er-do-well to task for threatening his classmates. We have no doubt that the boys in green and black are going to deliver quite the smackdown this time around, since Sakura’s heading an entire class of fighters with no plans of backing down. As long as the action remains high octane you can consider us locked in!

#6: “Yaiba: Samurai Legend” (2025)

Anytime Wit Studio tackles a new anime, it’s practically an event in the making, and this time it's a re-adaptation of a 90s classic that likely went under several radars. Not surprising, given that the mangaka’s other work somewhat overshadowed it – a little series called Detective Conan. Now it seems Yaiba is getting its due, and it looks magnificent. As a kid who lives and breathes swordsmanship, Yaiba’s desire to find new rivals and become a legit samurai opens the floodgates to all kinds of crazy fights, especially when demons start getting involved. Inject this into our veins now!

#5: “Witch Watch” (2025)

Incoming new romantic comedy! Emphasis on the comedy, given that this is the same mad lad who brought us SKET DANCE. She’s a witch, he’s a dastardly handsome human-looking ogre tasked to protect her – the only issue being that Nico is the most bombastic spellcaster out there who has no issue causing chaos wherever she goes. Made all the worse given her infatuation for her childhood bestie and a raucous desire for him to go full Isengard on her. Place them in a school full of wackos – and the best kind of calamity is sure to follow!

#4: “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” (2025)

Just because Deku’s journey is coming to a close doesn’t mean there’s no stories left to tell from the heart of hero society. Focusing on a group of unregistered superpowered individuals who fight evil from the shadows, this fresh perspective is honestly just what the series needs. It’s like swapping Superman for Batman. Only with a bunch of idealistic, unprepared kids, one grumpy as hell veteran with a colossal chip on his shoulder, as well as a whole heap of trouble as they contend with villains and pro-heroes alike!

#3: “Lazarus” (2025)

We didn’t even need to see a single frame of this series before knowing it was going to be a banger. After all, it’s being helmed by the creator of Cowboy Bebop and the director of John Wick. That’s a combo made in action heaven. Oh, and Mappa is doing the animation as well. It’s literally an anime junkie’s dream. Throw in conspiracies, miracle drugs and a race against time, and this thing has every chance to reach the heights Ninja Kamui never could.

#2: “Fire Force” Season Three (2025)

We’ve been waiting for this waning ember to catch fire again for way too long, and now it’s finally here. Setting itself ablaze as it heads into its concluding arc, Shinra and the rest of Company 8 look primed to finally bring the fight to the White-Clad and prevent them from turning the earth into another sun…though now it seems they’ve got to deal with members of their own faction turning traitor and giving themselves to the Evangelist’s teachings. We can only imagine the kind of fiery footwork we’re in for!

#1: “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” (2025)

Another year, another Gundam series to spellbind us with its tale of way and badass mecha. Fans were already eating good with the exceptional The Witch from Mercury, but this – THIS – looks to be something special. Why? For one thing, we’re returning to the universal century, and yes, that means the return of the man, the myth, the god, Char Aznable. Only here – it’s set during an alternative timeline where Char stole the RX-78 before Amuro had a chance to pilot it – drastically changing the course of the war and the future. But that’s not all – it’s being written in part by Hideaki Anno – creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. This is mecha nirvana and it cannot get here soon enough!
