Top 10 Banned Sexy Commercials

Top 10 Banned Sexy Commercials
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
Script written by Matthew Thomas

These were a little too hot for TV. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the top 10 sexy banned commercials. For this list, we're looking at commercials that the censors banned from television, regardless of region, due to their sexual nature or hints of sexuality that were deemed too racy for small screen audiences. It's also okay if they aired a few times, as long as they were eventually pulled from the air.

Special thanks to our users Andy Roehl, Jay Shizzle DeAntonio, crooky93, Eeman02O1 and iamnotarobot for submitting the idea through our Suggest Tool at http://www.WatchMojo.comSuggest

#10: “Washroom”
Levi’s

In this ad for Levi’s original 501 jeans, a woman appears to be on the run and needs to get out of a disguise she is wearing, so she rushes into an already occupied bathroom. Based on his walking stick and the fact that he’s wearing sunglasses, she presumes the man inside is blind and changes in front of him. Turns out he can see it all. We suspect it’s the moment where she teases him by placing her crotch inches from his face to button up her button fly that led to the ban.

#9: “Headbutt”
7UP

Sometimes commercials can be subtle works of art that combine salesmanship with understated concepts that work together perfectly. Other times, however, they combine a strange song that sexualizes the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood with a bottle in place of a penis. In this instance, 7UP decided to go for the latter approach and shockingly, while it has its moments, this ad did not last long on television.

#8: “Christmas”
Victoria’s Secret

It may seem like a foregone conclusion that any ad put out by a lingerie company is going to be sexy, therefore most of the time the visuals are allowed to speak for themselves. If you put half naked women on TV, men will come to your store. But this ad had the Victoria’s Secret Angels turn to the camera and attempt to seduce the audience by saying things like “Bring me to my knees.” Is this really what we wanna hear and see during the family-friendly holiday? Censors must have loved that one!

#7: “Secret Obsession with Eva Mendes”
Calvin Klein

Eva Mendes is considered one of the sexiest women in the world. That’s why it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Calvin Klein turned to her to help them sell a fragrance named Secret Obsession. But in this ad, we see Eva cavorting seductively on a bed in a thirty-second spot that feels vaguely like a ‘70s porn. If the porn feel alone didn’t ensure it’d be banned, then the brief nipple shot certainly must have.

#6: “Veggie Love”
PETA

The organization known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has a rep for being extreme in everything it does. Their “we’d rather go naked than wear fur” ad campaign has effectively relied on sex to garner attention since 1991, and they’ve decided to up the ante over time. And, you can’t deny, having half-naked models use vegetables in very sexually suggestive ways while boasting about vegetarians’ love prowess in this banned Super Bowl ad was certainly that.

#5: “The Power of Women’s Underwear”
New Yorker

When a gold digger marries an old man and wants him dead, she turns to her trusty weapon: her underwear. Her erotic dancing causes her new husband’s heart to race, which in turn kills him via a heart attack. Do you want to be deadly sexy? Then do we have the underwear you need to buy! The combination of sex and death caused this ad’s early demise.

#4: “Kylie Minogue’s Erotic Lingerie”
Agent Provocateur

Ms. Minogue has been a sex symbol around the globe for many years. Never one to shy away from sexual imagery, she’s the perfect celebrity to endorse a lingerie company. If you want to make sure the ads she no doubt been paid a lot of money for actually air on television, then having her wear lingerie while riding a mechanical bull in a stated attempt to induce boners may not have been a good idea. We’re assuming the guys were not complaining though.

#3: “That’s Hot”
Carl’s Jr.

The bikini car wash has been a staple of sexual fantasies for nearly as long as both cars and bikinis have existed. The burger fantasy has been around since… well, it’s not really a thing. That didn’t stop this American fast food chain from combining the two, throwing in Paris Hilton and calling it a day. Effective enough, this ad for Carl’s Jr.’s Spicy BBQ Burger stuck with people, despite being banned in an effort to prevent other sexually charged burger ads.

#2: “30 Second Previews”
Napster

A renegade company since the beginning, Napster’s attempts to stay on the edge resulted in this very sexy, very banned commercial. A gorgeous blonde is shown strip teasing, and shortly is wearing nothing but her underwear before the music she’s dancing to suddenly shuts off. She then sits down and ignores the audience. What a tease.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

“Catfight”
Miller Lite

“Patty Melts For You”
Hardee’s

“Broadcast Censorship Hearings”
Go Daddy

#1: “Catch the Fever”
Beyoncé Heat

Here’s another banned celebrity perfume ad. This time, Beyoncé’s sporting tons of cleavage and rubbing herself while we hear her smoothly singing in the background caused the censors to remove this commercial for her first fragrance from daytime TV. Her sizzling movements and the lingering shots of that side boob and so much more may’ve been deemed too much for the kiddies – but at least this one can still be enjoyed online thanks to the wonders of the Internet.
