#10: Draw My Story

This visual form of storytelling is a popular one, especially with YouTubers. The concept is fairly simple: you tell your own mini bio, and pair it with a series of illustrations to bring it to life. Of course, Billie Eilish being Billie Eilish, when she did a “Draw My Story” for Capital FM, she did things a little differently. Rather than do the classic bio, she selected one particular misadventure from childhood - involving her and her fellow home-schooled friends. What starts off as a pastoral dream encounter with wild deer quickly turns into the stuff of nightmares when bees come into the picture. Told in Billie’s trademark off the cuff style, it’s certainly memorable, if a little traumatic.

#9: The Puppy Interview

Billie is by no means the first celebrity to do an interview while playing with adorable puppies; BuzzFeed has had some pretty big names in their studio to participate over the years. And yet, as Eilish tends to do, she still manages to stand out from the crowd. Yes, she does occasionally get distracted by all the cuteness in her lap, but she actually does a pretty good job of responding to the questions - which is more than some of her peers can say. Talking about her blue hair, chocolate chip cookies and her own evolution, she’s candid and clearly unafraid to share her thoughts. Also, can we talk about her outfit? Classic Billie Eilish.

#8: Getting Interviewed by Her Brother

Billie Eilish has got music running through her veins, as both of her parents work in the entertainment industry. Music is also something that she’s also been able to share with her older brother, Finneas O’Connell. Four years her senior, Finneas often co-writes Billie’s songs, in addition to serving as her producer. He was actually the one to write “Ocean Eyes”, her debut single. Considering how close the siblings are and how much time they spend collaborating, it’s kind of funny to see them in the more formal context of having one interview the other. Kicking off with a badass handshake, the interview feels like a real window into their relationship and their remarkable collaborative creative process.

#7: Watching Fan Covers

For musicians, especially younger ones who have only recently found success, it must be pretty surreal to see your influence spread. As Billie watches fans cover her songs, you can see that she’s visibly moved by the way her music has connected with people. More than that however, she just seems so genuinely in awe of all the undiscovered or underappreciated talent out there. Eilish, as per usual, is both humble and enthusiastic - a few times she even looks like she’s going to cry. Best of all, the video also shows the fans reacting to Billie’s reaction, which brings the whole thing full circle in the best possible way.

#6: Taking “The Office” Quiz

We love Billie Eilish for many reasons: her music, her unique fashion sense, her commitment to being herself, her ability to inspire, and more. Now, we can go ahead and add “she’s a huge fan of The Office” to that list. In early May of 2019, Billboard arranged to have Rainn Wilson, aka Dwight Schrute, visit the talented young singer-songwriter to put her fan credibility to the test. Eilish isn’t shy about telling Wilson just how much she loves the show. Seriously, she talks about watching it while she poops. The actor puts her through her paces, and though she gets off to a rough start (largely due to nerves), she indeed proves herself to be a superfan.

#5: Sneaker Shopping with Complex

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Billie Eilish has got mad style. A fashion icon in the making, the unconventional dresser went to Stadium Goods in NYC with Joe La Puma of Complex Magazine to talk shop in early 2019. Billie doesn’t hold back. She talks about her disdain for traditional women’s shoes, her preference for bright, over-the-top colored kicks, and the fact that it was Houston rapper Riff Raff that put her onto Jordans. Billie clearly loves her footwear, as evidenced by her anecdote about essentially wearing out her pair of “Ghost Green” Legacy 312s. For anyone who’s ever doubted Billie’s sneakerhead cred, this video sets the record straight.

#4: The Official Story

One of the most refreshing things about Billie Eilish is just how transparent and honest she is - be it on social media, on-stage or in interviews. So many young pop stars come across as guarded. And can you blame them? It must be exhausting to live in the spotlight as a teen. But while so many of her peers seem like they’re putting on an act and crafting an image, Eilish comes across as 100% genuine. And really, that’s what this Vevo LIFT video is all about. In it, she opens by dismissing her past as the means for people to try to understand her as an artist, inviting fans to instead engage with her in the present and embrace change, as she’s committed to constantly evolving - even at the risk of failing.

#3: Hot Ones

With all the various YouTube channels, pop culture sites and radio shows out there, the dozens upon dozens of interviews often start to feel homogeneous and repetitive. Then… there’s Hot Ones, the interview show that throws celebs off their game with a gauntlet of hot wings. If you want to see a musician or actor at their purest and most unadulterated, this is the show. And wouldn’t you know it, even when she’s scorching her taste buds and losing her shit, Billie is still 100% Billie. The youngest guest in the show’s history, Eilish identifies soda flavors, revisits some of her best outfits and talks about Jaden Smith healing her, all while crushing hot wings. She even went back for seconds! What a champ.

#2: Talking Tourette’s with Ellen

Growing up is hard enough as is, but when you’re doing it under the microscope of public scrutiny that comes with being a musical celebrity? We can only imagine that it must get downright crushing at times. Adolescence typically comes with an overwhelming sense of self-consciousness. But in 2018, when a compilation video was released on YouTube highlighting what appeared to be facial tics in interviews, Billie met it head on, confirming that she has Tourette Syndrome. In 2019, she spoke candidly with Ellen DeGeneres about the condition, explaining that she doesn’t want it to define her, but that talking about it has given her yet another way to connect with fans. For us, it’s just one more reason to consider Eilish an inspiration.

#1: Same Interview: One Year Apart

On October 18th, 2017, Billie Eilish sat down to do an interview with Vanity Fair. Exactly one year later, the Magazine had her back to conduct the exact same interview. The end result is an incredible look into how much Billie grew, changed and matured in the course of just 365 days. The insights are many and often staggering, but what’s most touching is how visibly affected Billie is by the experience. There’s a massive difference between these two people and yet, they’re both her. Less emotional, but admittedly hilarious, is a similar spoof of the concept filmed with Capital FM, in which Billie does the same interview 10 minutes apart.
