Top 10 Best Gravity Falls Characters

Top 10 Best Gravity Falls Characters
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Garrett Alden
These "Gravity Falls" characters make us want to visit the Mystery Shack. Our countdown includes Soos Ramirez, Stan Pines, Bill Cipher, and more!

#10: Pacifica Northwest

Gravity Falls’ resident blonde, basic, popular girl, Pacifica is more than just a cartoon “Mean Girl.” Beginning as a rival to Mabel, and to a lesser extent Dipper, Pacifica is gradually revealed to have more depth than her shallow attitude would suggest. The product of her rich and arrogant parents’ upbringing and borderline abuse, Pacifica begins to overcome her snooty attitude as the show goes on. Despite still being haughty and hilariously sarcastic, she reveals a kinder heart than the rest of her family; aiding the Pines twins more often. We’d also be lying if we said we didn’t ship her with Dipper a little bit…

#9: Waddles

As much as our last entry would probably object to being ranked lower than a pig, can you blame us? Waddles is awesome! A pig Mabel wins at a fair, Waddles becomes her constant companion for the rest of the summer. Waddles may not be able to talk…er, most of the time…but he’s still a funny and cute character. Whether he’s joining Mabel in a pig dance party or he’s becoming super intelligent and realizing that friendship is more important than inventions, Waddles is a girl’s best friend that we’d take over diamonds any day!

#8: Old Man McGucket

A self-described “local kook,” “Old Man” Fiddleford McGucket is every zany, backwoods old coot stereotype rolled into one hilarious package. Like, we’re positive he’s said the phrase “there’s gold in them there hills!” at least once in his life! Despite his kooky exterior, McGucket is actually a brilliant inventor with a tragic past, marking him as another character who has more to him than meets the eye. “Gravity Falls” delivers one of the best gag characters with more than one note with McGucket. Even so, we still can’t help but laugh at his over-the-top paranoia and eccentricities.

#7: Ford Pines

He may only appear late in the series, but Ford Pines is a crucial part of “Gravity Falls.” Ford is Stan’s long lost twin brother. Trapped in other dimensions for decades, Ford also wrote the journals about the town’s paranormal happenings that Dipper is obsessed with. A man of action and of intelligence, Ford is a definite role model for Dipper, although he’s made plenty of mistakes along the way. Seeing him repair his relationship with his twin is heartwarming, even if it takes a while. Ford’s cluelessness about modern pop culture is also pretty great.

#6: Soos Ramirez

The Mystery Shack’s resident fix-it man and man-child extraordinaire, Soos is a big goofball. Prone to gluttony and possessing few skills with women, Soos is still a fun guy to watch and for the other characters to have around. While he may not always come through, he’s always there for the Pines family whenever they need help - particularly Stan, whom he views as a father figure. Also, his frequent non sequiturs are among the funniest lines in the whole show, since you never know what he’s going to say or do next!

#5: Wendy Corduroy

Another employee of the Mystery Shack, Wendy is basically the opposite of Soos – a total slacker and effortlessly cool. Given how chill and fun she is, it’s easy to see why she’s the unrequited subject of Dipper’s affections. Although she often wisely avoids some of the more outrageous adventures the Pines family engages in, Wendy proves herself a steadfast and resourceful friend to them when the chips are down. Whether it’s surviving a weird apocalypse or just hanging out, she’s a great person to have by your side. Just don’t get her started on catchy songs…

#4: Bill Cipher

Illuminati confirmed! We mean, buy gold! No wait… Sorry, he’s in our, uh, on our minds, so we got ahead of ourselves! Anyway, Bill Cipher is the cycloptic yellow triangle from another dimension that acts as the nemesis of the Pines family. Capable of tremendous influence over dreams, Bill is desperate to escape his own dimension and to enter the one of Gravity Falls. To do so, he enacts a variety of deals that will enable him to gain power there. At once hilarious and terrifying, Bill may not show up often, but his few appearances are memorable and essential to the show’s plot.

#3: Stan Pines

The great uncle, or “grunkle,” to the Pines twins, Stanley Pines is also the unscrupulous, money-grubbing old proprietor of the Mystery Shack. Fond of scheming and scamming alike, Stan is definitely a criminal, and more than a little rough around the edges, but he’s as fun-loving and caring a grunkle as you ask for. He’s also surprisingly badass when the situation calls for it, and even has a softer side. He’s also easily one of the funniest characters in “Gravity Falls,” and if not for our final two entries, he’d be in contention for the top spot.

#2: Mabel Pines

One of the show’s two main protagonists, Mabel is a relentlessly upbeat and cheerful girl. Rarely taking anything seriously, Mabel has a style and attitude all her own. A lover of sweaters, boys, and everything sparkly, Mabel is the adorkable kid we either have inside of us, or wish we could be. If she has any faults, it’s that she can be a little too optimistic and silly. When something serious happens that’s beyond her control, Mabel doesn’t always handle it well. Regardless, she’s still an amazing character and very nearly the best on “Gravity Falls.”

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:

Grenda Grendinator
Mabel’s Friend May Be Loud, But That’s Why We Love Her!

Candy Chiu
Mabel’s Other Bestie Is as Sweet as Her Name

Sheriff Blubs & Deputy Durland
We Wouldn’t Dream of Splitting Up These Two Lazy, Dopey Cop Partners

Gideon Gleeful
The Pines Family’s Nemesis May Be Adorable, But He’s a Real Creep!

Abuelita
Soos’ Grandmother Is Adorable with a Side of Shade

#1: Dipper Pines

Mabel’s twin, Dipper is the more serious of the duo. Discovering a journal left behind by Ford causes him to become obsessed with the various mysterious happenings in Gravity Falls, driving most of the show’s plot. While he may not be as funny as many of the other characters, Dipper is courageous and pretty adorkable in his own right. He’s also the relatable straight man to many of the town’s zany residents. Plus, without Dipper’s tireless thirst for adventure and mystery, it’s safe to say that “Gravity Falls” just wouldn’t be the same.
