#10: Who is Soos’ father?

The mystery Shack’s beloved attendant, Soos seems to have something missing in his life. Though he quite happily lives with his grandmother, Abuelita, he can never quite gets over missing his father. Soos sings this mystery man’s praises, even though it’s believed that he was nothing more than a deadbeat. Could Soos’ father actually be a lucha libre as he imagined in episode 19? Probably not, but hey that’s all part of the mystery.

#9: What Does The Author Know About Bill Cipher (And How Did He Learn It)?

Halfway through season 2, “Gravity Falls” answered one of its greatest mysteries: who’s The Author? While we now know it’s Grunkle Stan’s twin brother, Stanford, it took a while for us to learn more about this character. The most intriguing question still remained - what is Stanford’s link to the devious Bill Cipher? As was made evident by his journals, Stanford evidently has great knowledge of Bill. Exactly how did he gain such knowledge? What’s their relationship? This was one reveal that did not disappoint.

#8: What's with the Tapestry in the Northwest Mansion?

Speaking of Bill Cipher, this triangular dream demon also has a connection to the tapestry in the Northwest Mansion. The tapestry depicts Bill looking upon a sea of hellfire full of bones and people bowing down to him. It’s clear even then that something big is coming to Gravity Falls and that Bill Cipher would be at the center of it all. What’s just as curious, however, is why the Northwest family possesses this tapestry. Are they oblivious to its meaning or could they be followers of this enigmatic villain?

#7: Is the Future Predetermined?

One of our favorite reoccurring “Gravity Falls” characters is Blendin Blenjamin Blandin, a time traveler from the year 207̃012. Blendin is sent back in time to fix several anomalies caused by Mabel and Dipper. We learn more about him in season 2 as the twins travel to a future governed by the Time Baby. How exactly does this Tron-like future come to be? Is this fate inevitable or will the events occurring in the present alter the timeline? This was one mystery where we had to wait and see what the future holds.

#6 What’s the Deal with Old Man McGucket?

The only thing weirder than the mysteries in Gravity Falls are its peculiar residents. You’ve got the whiney reporter, the band of misfits, the giant woodsmen, and the incompetent policemen, to name only a few. But weirdest of all seemed to be the borderline-insane hillbilly with a knack for inventions, Old Man McGucket. Where did he gain all those skills? Alongside none other than Stanford Pines, of course. In order to erase his terrifying past, he worked to create the mysterious Blind Eye Society. Who would’ve thought that this character would play such an integral role in the series?

#5: What Is Dipper’s Name?

While it was revealed that the series protagonist gained his nickname for the odd, constellation shaped birthmark on his forehead, we are still never told what his real name is. He’s gained several other nicknames from the residents of Gravity Falls, but even his own family refers to him by this moniker. Is there any importance behind it or does it just sound dumb? For such an open book of a character, a lot of Dipper’s backstory remains hidden, including the identity of his and Mabel’s parents.

#4: What Did The Author Do in the Other Dimension?

As stated before, there’s a ton we’ve yet to learn about Stanford Pines, aka The Author. While we finally figured out how he ended up in the Universe Portal, we still don’t know what happened to him in there. How did he survive in this other dimension for thirty years? What did he learn? What strange creatures did he encounter? It just goes to show that for every question “Gravity Falls” answers, it amounts to several more mysteries. But that’s just one of the reasons why people love this show.

#3: Is The More Meaning To The Circle Than We Know?

“Gravity Falls” is full of symbols and codes hidden in the background that are easy to miss. During the intro, one of the most significant signs occurs in the blink of an eye. Within a wheel, we can see several symbols surrounding Bill Cipher at the center of everything. Though it was revealed that these symbols represent the residence who all came together, namely Dipper, Mabel, Gideon, Grunkle Stan, Soos, Wendy, Stanford, Robbie, Pacifica and Old Man McGucket - the real question is how and why were they chosen?

#2: Why Are There So Creatures in Gravity Falls?

From gnomes to mermen to humanoids akin to living golf balls, Gravity Falls has no shortage of supernatural beings. It’s still somewhat unclear what drives these creatures to this small Oregon town, however. It was revealed that most of the mystical anomalies are from another dimension, but why are the barriers between dimensions so weak in Gravity Falls? On top of that, fans wondered if we’d ever get to see this other dimension. We envisioned extraordinary sights awaiting us and other strange creatures that we hadn’t even discovered yet. The possibilities were truly endless – and exciting.

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- What's Up with Gompers the Goat?
- What's the Origin of The Shape Shifter?
- What Happened to Carla McCorkle?
- What's With All the Symbols?

#1: What’s Bill Cipher Up To?

It’s only fitting that Bill Cipher would top this list seeing as how he essentially ties into almost every other mystery in Gravity Falls. And throughout the series, we had so many questions regarding this character. What are his origins? What’s his relationship to various characters? Why is his image often hidden in the background as if he’s always watching? The most prominent question of all was: what were Bill’s exact motives? There was little doubt that Bill was bad news, but few could predict just how devious and tyrannical this demonic creature turned out to be.

Do you agree with our list? What mystery keeps you coming back to Gravity Falls? For more entertaining Top 10s published every day, be sure to subscribe to WatchMojo.com.
