Top 10 Best League of Legends Skins

So many skins, not enough spots to put them on a Top 10. Only the best will come out on top! Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 “League of Legends” Skins and Where They're From.

For this list, we're looking at skins from the acclaimed MOBA that reference other franchises, judging them on their designs and overall uniqueness.

Considering he is a sword-wielding character, a Jedi version of Master Yi is practically a requirement, and damn, does he look cool as ever! In addition to having his sword exchanged for a lightsaber, Master Yi dons an outfit that’s reminiscent of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. As if this outfit wasn’t awesome enough already, players can change lightsaber colors to deal different types of damage. (Wait...red deals true damage? One truly cannot fathom the power of the Dark Side!) The only thing that looks weird is when you emote and see Master Yi touching the lightsaber’s blade. Your hands should be burnt off, dude! How the hell are you able to do that!?

“Alice in Wonderland” may not seem like it would fit into “League of Legends”, but when you think about the chaotic gameplay and oftentimes toxic randoms, one cannot help but quote the Cheshire Cat - “We’re all mad here.” Time to accept that with a whole new set of costumes! For this lineup, the mad jester Shaco is costumed as the Mad Hatter, and Kog’Maw turns into a menacing version of the Caterpillar. However, the real star of the set is Annie who looks cute as a button in her Alice outfit...until she starts setting people on fire.

It’s a real shame that Kled is one of the few Legends that doesn’t have a heck of a lot of skins. You could do some really cool designs like the Count Kledula skin. As goofy and wicked as that one is, we have to give a spot to the Sir Kled appearance. Not only is Kled rocking the knight look, but he is also riding a very familiar, bird-like beast. Any “Final Fantasy” fan will tell you that’s no ordinary bird he’s riding - THAT is a Chocobo! Well, more or less… Regardless, we’ll be charging into battle while humming our favorite battle themes from across the franchise! If you have White Mage Veigar, feel free to join in!

Okay, Riot - you can’t fool us by attaching “Secret Agent” to her name, even if you tried selling us on it with the art! Aside from “Resident Evil’s” Ada Wong, what kind of a secret agent would be toting dual pistols while wearing a glamorous dress like that? Miss Fortune isn’t posing as a secret agent - she’s cosplaying as Ms. Jessica Rabbit! In “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, Jessica wears a similar outfit while singing at The Ink & Paint Club. So, as soon as we saw Miss Fortune in that pinkish-purple dress, we immediately knew where Riot drew inspiration from.

A handful of science fiction franchises are referenced across “League of Legends’” many costume sets. As awesome as Chosen Master Yi and the other “Star Wars” skins are, we couldn’t help gushing over the Headhunter set, a lineup that is inspired by the “Alien vs. Predator” franchise. In this set, Fiddlesticks becomes a cybernetic Xenomorph while Akali, Caitlyn, Master Yi, and Rengar don Predator-like costumes. The best one of this whole collection, however, is Nidalee, who dresses like Machiko Noguchi, a character from the “Alien vs. Predator” comics that manages to take down both a Hunting Captain and two Xenomorph Queens! Way to honor a badass, Riot!

Speaking of honoring badasses, Shen has the pleasure of making a nod towards two famous gaming characters that hail from the same franchise. Shen’s legacy skins - Yellow Jacket Shen and Frozen Shen - are direct references to Scorpion and Sub-Zero of the “Mortal Kombat” series. It’s no surprise he would get skins like these (I mean, the guy’s default appearance looks an awful lot like Noob Saibot), but that doesn’t make the design any less appealing. At least now we have an excuse to yell “Get over here!” or “FATALITY!!” without making things awkward.

As if the gaming references weren’t enough, Riot went ahead and made a small set of costumes themed around retro gaming. This collection is packed with references from Miss Fortune’s NES Zappers and Veigar’s Power Glove to Sona’s fightstick keyboard and Ezreal’s Dreamcast gauntlet. Even Ahri gets a small Game Boy Advance for an accessory! Some Legends are even designed similar to other games. (Really, take one look at Brand and say he doesn’t look like a “Mega Man” villain.) All in all, this lineup was a hell of a way to show just how awesome video games are!

When going up against enemies wielding axes, swords, and an assortment of guns, even a lethal martial artist like Lee Sin might have some trouble holding their own. That’s why he must channel the power of another legendary martial artist, one that has starred in an assortment of kung-fu movies and kicked the asses of many goons - Bruce Lee. With the Dragon Fist skin, Lee Sin sports a jumpsuit with dragon emblazoned on the back. Couple the yellow version of the suit with a pair of slick shades that would make Chuck Norris proud, and you’ve got a skin that screams, “Who wants some!?”

For those of you unfamiliar with “League of Legends”, “dunking” or “getting dunked” refers to animation in Darius’s ultimate. When triggered, Darius jumps in the air and slams his weapon into the ground in a motion similar to dunking a basketball. At some point, Riot decided to turn the phrase into a new skin just so players can say they “dunked” in a literal sense. And now, here we are with Dunkmaster Darius, a vicious basketball player that brings us back to the days of “NBA Hangtime” and the “NBA Street” series. When can we stop saying “dunked” and start saying “boomshakalaka” again?
