Our list includes couples like Tom Holland & Zendaya, Nicole Kidman & Lenny Kravitz, Javier Bardem & Penélope Cruz, Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx, Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield, and more. Which A-list duo's secret romance caught you off guard? Share your favorites in the comments below!

#10: Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield

The Spider-Man co-stars were far from the first to fall in love on set. But the relative mystery surrounding their relationship, including the fact that it existed, made it pretty remarkable. Presumably, they began dating during the making of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2011. It wouldnt be until 2014 that the two even seemed to acknowledge the relationship publicly. By 2015, the pair had broken up. Since then, the media goes wild when the two make even casual mentions of each other. Maybe theyre trying to make up for all the juicy clicks they didnt get when they were actually dating.

#9: Matthew Perry & Julia Roberts

The queen of the 90s romcom and the star of one of the decades biggest sitcoms had a brief fling at the height of their fame. Julia Roberts guest starred on Friends in its second season. She only did so on the condition that she could be part of Matthew Perrys storyline. Outside of a few paparazzi snaps, the two were pretty lowkey despite their intense fame. How did they keep their relationship so hidden? It was the 90s. They used a fax machine, of course. It wasnt until Perrys revealing 2022 memoir that the details of their relationship became public knowledge. Perry cited his insecurity as the reason he broke it off after only a few months.

#8: Beyoncé & Jay-Z

This is a marriage so high-profile it seems like even the small glimpses we get dominate weeks of entertainment news. But back when they began their relationship in the early 2000s, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were collaborators before they were one of our most famous couples. Details of their relationship were relegated to paparazzi snaps. But even after their surprise 2008 nuptials, the pair remained private. Even when scandal, infidelity, and elevator fights threatened to expose some buried secrets, what did they do? They turned it into art, further blurring the lines between what is real and what isnt.

#7: Dakota Johnson & Chris Martin

In the 2010s, the Coldplay frontman jumped from one highly publicized celebrity super-coupling to a more lowkey celebrity super-coupling. Three years after Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow divorced, he began seeing Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson. Weve mostly gotten little nuggets of info about their relationship. But amid a breakup in 2025, it was revealed that the two were on-again, off-again partners for much of their time together. On top of that, they had actually been engaged for years. This was news to some fans, as the two had previously dodged questions about exchanging vows.

#6: Chris Evans & Alba Baptista

Somehow, Marvel star Chris Evans and Portuguese actress Alba Baptista kept things relatively under wraps before their wedding in 2023. The star-studded guest list aside, their ceremony was a lot like the rest of their courtship. While their involvement first became known in 2022, outside of social media interactions and event appearances, they enjoy more secrecy than your average celebrity couple. Evans and Baptista are especially low-profile when compared to some other A-list heavyweights. Public sightings of the two are scarce. Apparently, they prefer the quiet life in rural Massachusetts to the rat race of Hollywood.

#5: Eva Mendes & Ryan Gosling

These two are so low-profile about their relationship that even a simple public statement of support is a media event. In 2025, Eva Mendes shared a rare comment about Ryan Gosling and it made headlines. She was congratulating him on his campaign to get stunt people recognized at the Oscars. Thats it. Thats how rare an event this is. The two co-stars began seeing each other after starring in The Place Beyond the Pines. Mendes retired from acting, citing the limited roles for Latina actresses and her desire to raise a family. Outside of a casual mention here and there, the public knows very little about the relationship. If anything, that probably indicates that its about as normal as any non-Hollywood partnership.

#4: Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx

After being plastered across tabloid front pages during her six year marriage to Tom Cruise, its no wonder Katie Holmes would be more protective over her next romance. In one of the more elusive celebrity couplings, Holmes began dating superstar Jamie Foxx in 2013. The only clues came from sporadic displays of affection in public and some inside sources discussing their strong bond. Their privacy was so guarded that Foxx even walked off a 2018 ESPN interview when asked about Holmes. The two were no longer together as of 2019. Several years on, the two have yet to speak at length about their time together. The closest Foxx has come to commenting was in his 2024 Netflix special.

#3: Javier Bardem & Penélope Cruz

These frequent co-stars met on the set of Jamón Jamón in the early 1990s. However, they didnt begin dating until over 15 years later, when they starred as tempestuous lovers in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Even so, their public appearances together are not plentiful. In 2021, Cruz offered a rare glimpse into their marriage and family dynamics. She told CBS Sunday Morning that protecting their childrens privacy is important to them. That explains a lot. Basically, their marriage seems to only make headlines when they make appearances at ceremonies or in the occasional film together.

#2: Nicole Kidman & Lenny Kravitz

Only those who are truly up on their pop culture knowledge knew about the connection between Nicole Kidman and her Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz. Kidman once dated her colleagues father, Lenny Kravitz. After her marriage to Tom Cruise, Kidman dated the Fly Away rocker and future Hunger Games star all the way back in 2003. The big shocker was that they were engaged at one point. Hilariously, it was Kidman herself who dropped that news publicly for the first time in 2017. Either she forgot it had ever been a secret or it was so long ago that it didnt seem to matter.

#1: Tom Holland & Zendaya

Fan speculation was rampant about these two from the jump. With how hard the Internet was sniffing around them, its amazing they waited so long to publicly confirm their romance. The Spider-Man: Homecoming co-stars kept up the pretense of being just friends for nearly five years. They set the rumor mill ablaze again at the 2025 Golden Globes, when nominee Zendaya was spotted wearing a telltale ring on the red carpet. The two had become engaged a few weeks prior. As it should be, when major developments happen between these two, were always the last to know.
