Why pay for fun on the go? Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 free to play mobile games. For this list, we ranked some of the best mobile games with significant portions that can be played for free. Some of these games may have began life on a regular pay model, but have since transitioned to the freemium model.

#10: “Bejeweled Blitz” (2010)

Expecting Candy Crush? Well we’re going with the original instead. Mobile devices are the ideal market for casual games, and Bejeweled capitalized upon the medium perfectly. Of course, there’s also plenty here for traditional gamers to enjoy, as the vibrant colors and frenetic gameplay are sure to keep just about anyone hooked. It takes the “match 3” puzzle game style and ups the ante by making players tally up as many points as they can within a minute, leading quick, frantic game sessions.

#9: “Crossy Road” (2014)

If you’re nostalgic for your glory days of playing “Frogger,” this is the game for you. It uses the classic title’s basic formula of trying to cross streets while avoiding obstacles and updates it for the mobile age by adding unlimited play, adorably blocky visuals, and a quirky soundboard. Add to all that a coin-collecting objective that lets you unlock characters, as well as an annoying eagle who hopes to eat you, and you’ve got a fantastic mobile game and one that’s way deeper than what inspired it.

#8: “Temple Run 2” (2013)

The Best Temple From Every Zelda Game

Next on our list is yet another game that lasts as long as you can keep playing, which could be quite a bit of time given how much fun it is. Like its predecessor, it’s an addictive auto-runner which takes place in Indiana Jones-like backdrops, dodging obstacles along the way, which this time include perils such as waterfalls and jets of fire. Best of luck trying to pry yourself away from this one.

#7: “Galaxy on Fire 2” (2010)

Many mobile title are fun but kinda shallow; others, like this one, aim to add depth to gaming on the go. You play as Keith T. Maxwell, a war vet who winds up 35 years in the future and having to save his galaxy from evil aliens. It’s a sci-fi space shooter featuring an awesome career mode, in which you can upgrade your ship with tons of cool parts before you take to the stars to blow your enemies away.

#6: “Angry Birds” (2008)

It’s possible that no title is more synonymous with mobile gaming then this colorful puzzle game, and it’s easy to see why once you give it a try. Tight physics and a cute art style mask a surprisingly complex game once you delve into the later levels. The simplicity of the gameplay makes it easy to pick up, but the challenges later on will keep anyone hooked.

#5: “Asphalt 8: Airborne” (2013)

Mobile controls are not always ideal, but racing is one thing that lends itself rather well to the format, and this arcade-style title is the finest of the lot. Despite having seven awesome predecessors, this game more than justifies an 8th iteration with the addition of stratospheric leaps which you initiate via ramps laced throughout the tracks. Many of the elements which made this franchise such a success are here as well, such as the awesome cars like the GTA Spano and exotic locales like French Guiana.

#4: “Jetpack Joyride” (2011)

Whether it’s through the addictive game play or bizarre sense of humor, this cave flyer is sure to put a smile on your face. You play as Barry Steakfries, a pissed-off lab assistant who steals a jetpack and uses it to out of a research facility. Once he’s on the move, it’s up to you to help him avoid obstacles like electrified barriers and missiles while also picking up coins. To make this all better, there are loads of zany powerups to help escape the facility, ranging from motorcyles to robot suits to completely mess everything and everyone up. Sorry little scientists.

#3: “Punch Quest” (2012)

Next up is an odd mix of an endless runner and a retro 2D beat em up, but one that’s crazy addictive none the less. Imbedded in this crazy retro art style are excellent basic mechanics, which require you to fight your way dungeons with hand-to-hand combat you control through thumb taps. You’ll need to learn the sort of rock paper scissors kind of combat scheme if you want to progress, but then again you might just get lucky and ride a laser shooting raptor to victory.

#2: “Spaceteam” (2012)

Local multiplayer has become less and less popular due to the proliferation of online gaming, but this title carries on the tradition proudly. You connect with your buddies via either Bluetooth or WiFi, and you each get spaceship consoles with controls that can save the ships from being destroyed. The catch is that the controls mgith save you ship could very well be on someone else’s device, meaning that you’ll have to work with your friends (or against them) to figure things out. Before we get to our number one, let’s take a look at some honorable mentions: “Plants vs. Zombies 2” (2013) “Trivia Crack” (2013) “The Sims FreePlay” (2011) “Vainglory” (2014) “Dead Trigger 2” (2013)

#1: “Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft” (2014)

Crafting a place at the top of our list is this “Warcraft”-themed collectible card game. Even if that genre usually isn’t your thing, the title will surely win you over with its ease to pick-up play and variety of ways in which the cards can interact with one another. “WoW” fans will particularly dig it, since the tie ins to the popular franchise are never ending, but no gamer should miss out on this fantastic gaming experience.
