Spreading girl power one song at a time! Join http://www.MsMojo.tv as we count down the Top 10 Girl Group Songs. For this list, we're looking at the best songs to come out from bands across all genres that are comprised entirely of females. We'll be ranking them based on worldwide chart success, how iconic they are, their unique creativity, and their overall popularity. In order for a song to make our list all the members must sing at some point throughout the song. The one song per band rule applies, however we won't be omitting songs that feature a guest vocalist. Now without further ado, let's get on with the list!

Released as the second single from their self-titled debut album, All Saints ticked all the boxes with this memorable 90s hit. The song topped the charts in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, also making the top 10 in another 9 countries. The lyrics question a couples actions in a relationship after it has broken up. The classic spoken opening combines with the girls’ flawless vocals to produce a powerful love ballad. It deservedly won the 1998 Brit award for best British single and video. As of 2013, it’s the second best UK girl band single of all time. We’ll get to the first one later.

Sometimes it takes a while to get noticed in the music industry, but with the Pussycat Dolls it only took their debut single “Don’t Cha”. This R & B inspired hit topped the charts in 15 countries and is among the best-selling singles of all time. Led by the talented Nicole Scherzinger, the lyrics are straightforward sexual with a double dose of fun to go. The girls taunt men to question their girlfriends and go after a Pussycat Doll instead. The song was an automatic must for all Pussycat Doll concerts and we can’t blame them, it’s just so damn catchy and a definite crowd pleaser!

#8: “Whatta Man” (1993) Salt-N-Pepa ft. En Vogue

Released as the second single from the 1993 album Very Necessary, “Whatta Man” was and still is to this day, one of the best music collaborations of the 90s. It fuses the rapping talents of Salt-N-Pepa and perfect vocals of En Vogue for a match made in heaven. Among other well-known Salt-N-Pepa hits such as “Push it” and “Let’s Talk about Sex”, the success of “Whatta Man” sees it have high radio airplay even today. Named at number 23 on VH1’s countdown of the 100 greatest songs of the 1990s, this song won several awards and has a beat that’s sure to keep you dancing.

This is a song for females everywhere, offering them empowerment and strength when they are suspicious of a cheating man. Becoming one of the fastest selling singles of all time, this song makes use of a catchy change of pace, combined with an urban flavour and colourful music video. It became one of Destiny’s Childs signature hits, charting around the world, notably going straight to number one in Australia and the US. It also won the 2001 Grammy for Best R & B track. It’s a soulful song with attitude that we’ll be singing for years to come!

#6: “Waterfalls” (1995) TLC

Four years before the release of “No Scrubs”, TLC released “Waterfalls”, a soulful ballad touching on rough issues dominating the 90s. The unmissable hip hop vibe and on point vocals are combined with one of the most memorable female raps in history, courtesy of the late Lisa Lopes. This track made the top 10 in several countries, with its lyrics providing commentary on the consequences of chasing unrealistic dreams. “Waterfalls” will be forever be treasured in the hearts of many, whether or not you are a devoted TLC fan. Its legacy is forever, having been covered countless times and the band still performs it today.

The signature song for this powerful duo is one that you’ve probably sung with passion at least once. The tune features a powerful use of the piano, energetic drums and the upbeat vocals of the Pointer Sisters. The song charted in several countries, and rightly so. It’s almost impossible not to dance to this catchy track. The songs cult status is undying, having been featured in several movies and TV, with many awesome covers being performed over the years. It’s both inspirational and motivational, getting you excited about whatever awesome things are coming your way.

#4: “Walk like an Egyptian” (1986) The Bangles

Whilst on a ferry, songwriter Liam Sternberg penned this song upon noticing people holding out their arms in trying to keep their balance, walking like Egyptians. The Bangles converted it into a chart topping success, as the track made its way into radio airwaves around the world. The American rock/pop band continued their domination of the genre in the 80s with this killer song. With each verse sung by a different member of the band, it’s a powerful sound which features strong drum work and catchy lyrics.

#3: “Wannabee” (1996) The Spice Girls

Remember how we mentioned the best-selling UK girl group song of all time? Here it is. This song is iconic, catchy, and fun. Its upbeat style mixes rap, singing and a hip hop flavour to create one of the most recognisable songs of all time. The lyrics empower women to value their friendships over men. With an unforgettable music video to match, this song went to number one in nineteen places across the world. The girls also performed it at the 2012 Olympics, a prestigious musical honour in itself. What we want, what we really really want is for this song to never go away.

The powerful vocals of Martha Walsh and Izora Armstead created this piece of pop gold. Since its 1982 release, it’s sold over six million copies worldwide. A club favourite, the intense build up towards the chorus and flawless vocals have made this catchy tune a popular party favourite. The band even changed their name to the Weather Girls to suit the song and it totally worked a treat. After three decades, the song even re-entered the UK charts top 40 in 2014. This song can rain down on us all day long and we wouldn’t get sick of it. Alongside “Baby Love”, “Stop! In the name of Love” added to the tally of the Supremes 12 number one hits over their illustrious career. The track features legendary choreography which sees the women having their left arm on one hip, with the other arm outstretched to make a stop sign with their hands. The track has received one of the highest honours in music, as in 2001 it was inducted into the prestigious Grammy Hall of fame.
