Top 10 Best Girl Group Music Videos
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: Mandy Anne Lutman
Every girl group needs a killer music video. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for some of the best music videos made by everyone's favorite girl groups. Our countdown includes "Wannabe," "Soldier," "Hair," and more!

#10: "Our Lips Are Sealed" (1981)
The Go-Go's

An oldie but a goldie. The feel-good 80s vibes in “Our Lips Are Sealed” always put us in a good mood. Driving around Los Angeles in a convertible while being silly and having a good time - it just doesn’t get any better than that. The band stated they originally didn’t really care about doing this music video, but it turned out to have a ridiculously fun vibe. And, in case you were wondering, the jump in the fountain was a spontaneous decision because it was so hot on the day they were filming. The band’s guitarist revealed they were worried the cops would come get them any minute!

#9: "Don't Cha" (2005)
Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes

If you’re looking for a music video that makes you feel all hot and bothered, this is the one. Featuring Busta Rhymes, “Don’t Cha” is set at various locations, including what looks like an underground party. Scherzinger and Rhymes are effortlessly cool at the beginning, with the rest of the Pussycat Dolls look like they’re having the time of their lives racing in their Jeeps. It’s complete with dance breaks and a bit of good old chair choreo - you can never go wrong with that. And, a little fun fact - this music video is one of those credited for starting off the ‘slut drop’ dance move.

#8: “Hair” (2016)
Little Mix feat. Sean Paul

Little Mix’s music videos are full of girl power and friendship, but “Hair” really nails it when it comes to showing that girls just want to have fun. In this video, the girls can be seen having the time of their lives as they’re trying to comfort their friend who is going through a breakup. Cocktails, pizza, dance party, and a fashion show - sometimes that’s exactly what a girl needs to get someone out of her hair. Of course, the music video also features Sean Paul, who is portrayed as Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s ex. We love a cute girl power music video and “Hair” definitely delivers just that.

#7: “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” (1992)
En Vogue

These funky divas gave us a classic 90s style video and we just can’t stop groovin’ as we watch. “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” has a relatively simple but effective music video, featuring a groovy vibe. The shots are mostly composed of the group singing the songs and enjoying themselves, as well as two dancers in a zentai suit. The inspiration for the scenes with the group came from the musical “Sweet Charity’s” “Big Spender” scene. And that inspiration paid off because the music video won Best Choreography award during the “MTV Video Music Awards” in 1992.

#6: “I Got a Boy” (2013)
Girls' Generation

If you know K-pop, you know that the second generation of K-pop artists included Girls’ Generation. They brought streetwear fashion, impressive choreography, sass, style, and everything else that is needed for an iconic music video. At the beginning, the band is shown spending time at their house when a man rings their doorbell. And then, we get the full on choreo, complete with attention-grabbing colorful scenes and dance breaks. “I Got a Boy” has it all - it was viewed over 20 million times in less than a week, which made it the first K-Pop video to achieve that.

#5: “Work from Home” (2016)
Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign

Construction work is the theme for this high-energy music video that skyrocketed Fifth Harmony’s fame to new heights. The group brings out the sass as they dance around the construction area before busting into a dance break during the catchy chorus. Of course, we also get a view of Ty Dolla $ign who portrays another construction guy while the band dances in the background. Critics praised the music video and stated the group had full control over their sexuality and owned their confidence. This is definitely one of those that will make you bust out a move whenever you see it!

#4: “Soldier” (2004)
Destiny's Child feat. T.I., Lil' Wayne

When it came to girl power in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Destiny’s Child was the group to watch if you needed a confidence boost. First came the powerful “Say My Name” music video, and afterward we were introduced to “Soldier.” Featuring T.I and Lil Wayne, this simple black-and-white music video focused on the group having a good time in the company of men they are singing about. They show off their dance moves as well as the overall hip hop culture, with cameos from Ice Cube, Bow Wow, Ginuwine, and several other notable artists. A simple music video, but indeed effective.

#3: “No Scrubs” (1999)
TLC

Following the immense success of the “Waterfalls” video, which had a beachy ocean vibe, TLC had big shoes to fill. And they did that by telling everyone what they’re looking for in a man. Or, better yet, what they’re not looking for. “No Scrubs” has a futuristic setting and is focused on the group dancing and groovin’. It has typical dance sequences, ranging from solo dancing to the group doing the choreography together. This particular spaceship style theme was also featured in Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s “Scream” video and was pretty popular in music videos in the 90s.

#2: "Wannabe” (1996)
Spice Girls

When it comes to some of the best music videos, "Wannabe" is definitely a big contender. Not only is it ridiculously fun, just like The Spice Girls themselves, it was all done in two takes. The video is filmed at the Midland Grand Hotel in London and showcases the group causing a lot of chaos during a party. Geri Halliwell herself even stated that the whole concept of the video was to showcase the chaos and madness that is the Spice Girls. The video was able to top the charts in just two hours after its release.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Girls Aloud, “Biology” (2009)
For Its Incredible Fashion

Sugababes, “Push The Button” (2005)
Dancy & Cheeky Vibes

Bananarama, "Cruel Summer" (1983)

The Ronettes, “Be My Baby” (1963)

#1: “Kill This Love” (2019)
BLACKPINK

Many K-pop artists really know how to create a ‘wow’ effect in their music videos, but we’ve decided that BLACKPINK deserves to take the crown for some of the best music videos to this day. “Kill This Love” was selected as the group’s lead single from their second EP and needed to have a music video that would draw attention - and it delivered! Flashy lights, bold colors, and notes to Greek mythology all helped contribute to this music video setting records for the fastest liked and fastest viewed YouTube video. “Kill This Love” also broke records for biggest YouTube Premiere. Three years later, BLACKPINK was able to attain similar success with “Pink Venom.”
