Top 10 One Piece Openings

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 “One Piece” openings.

For this list, we’ll be going over the best intro songs and accompanying visuals from the anime “One Piece.” Spoiler alert – they’re all the fantastic!
If there’s a piratical tune you love that wasn’t on our list, no need to sail to the Grand Line – just hop down to the comments section and share your treasured favorites with us!

#10: “Hands Up!”

Kota Shinzato

“Hands Up!” has a bright and cheerful song that runs the gamut between quiet and reflective to belting passionately about pursuing your goals no matter the obstacles. Meanwhile, it features some equally uplifting and creative visuals, from the opening frame getting its colors filled in gradually, to the Straw Hats silhouetted in their signature colors, to the iconic meeting between Luffy and Law. Some put their hands up in the air because they just don’t care, but this opening makes us want to raise ours in triumph!

#9: “Super Powers”

V6

At first, “Super Powers” can sound like an odd duck among “One Piece” openings. It wouldn’t be entirely out of place in a techno club, but its variety of instrumentation, memorable lyrics, and almost ominous tone strangely work well together. Plus, it’s so catchy, it’s positively dangerous. Playing during the climax of the Whole Cake Island arc, “Super Powers” naturally features Luffy fighting Katakuri heavily, but it also has some great action moments from not only the Straw Hats, but also the rest of the extended cast. Plus, it has some foreshadowing that toes the line exactly between tantalizing teases and big spoilers, which not every “One Piece” opening pulls off as adeptly.

#8: “Hope”

Namie Amuro

Speaking of Whole Cake Island, “Hope” is another banger from the arc. Naturally, the accompanying imagery deals heavily with all the characters introduced, but it centers especially on Sanji. Fittingly enough, the song “Hope” plays like a plea from the Straw Hats for their curly-browed cook to return to them, reminding him of their good times together and their dreams still unrealized. Both melancholy and, appropriately, hopeful, the song stirs up all kinds of emotions every time you watch it, but will leave you optimistic by the time it’s over.

#7: “Brand New World”

D-51

It may only have aired for a few episodes, but this opening certainly left an impression! “Brand New World” delivers a sense of excitement and momentum throughout, both visually and musically, which is fitting for the exciting Enies Lobby arc. We’re treated to plenty of shots of the Straw Hats running, fighting, or otherwise in motion, but even the slower moments pulse with excitement, like that iconic rooftop shot. Just like Luffy’s new transformation, the whole thing feels like it’s been kicked up a “gear!” The song is fast-paced, catchy, and will have you singing or dancing in your seat to the beat.

#6: “Kokoro no Chizu”

BOYSTYLE

If we had to describe “Kokoro no Chizu” in one word, it would probably be “enchanting.” From those tinkling opening notes, the song sets a tone of wonder, discovery, and fun! The visuals even parallel the events of the story, with the Straw Hats falling from the sky, having fun adventures and then reaching Water 7, where the pacing of the song and the action pick up considerably! Water 7 is one of the more serious and celebrated story arcs in the series, so pairing an opening as lighthearted and entertaining as this one only makes it that much more enjoyable.

#5: “Share the World”

TVXQ

“Share the World” lives up to its name, since it has a little bit of everything in it! Musically, it feels a little bit funky, a little bit pop, and there’s even some rapping in there! But that’s nothing compared to how much ground the visuals cover! It showcases all the Straw Hats individually, as well as a ton of other characters, including all the Supernovas, plus imagery from not one, not two, but three different story arcs! It even has gags! Chopper and Brook trying to rescue Luffy is hilarious! And it’s all tied together by a chorus that fits the story’s widening scope and is so memorable you’ll get your groove on just thinking about it!

#4: “Fight Together”

Namie Amuro

“Fight Together” feels like the culmination of Luffy’s journey until this point. If this opening doesn’t stir emotions in you, you are not a “One Piece” fan! Even if you’re not, the beautiful song, with its rousing mix of melancholy and uplifting tones. The visuals are targeted strikes to all the feels, as the opening depicts not only where the separated crew members are now, but also how they joined the crew. As if that wasn’t enough to get the waterworks going, we also see a glimpse of Luffy’s childhood adventures with Ace and Sabo, and Ace’s spirit encouraging his brother to move forward.

#3: “We Go!”

Hiroshi Kitadani

In contrast to the last opening, “We Go!” is about beginnings. Although its name, singer, and tone call back to one of the series’ earliest openings, more on that soon, “We Go!” is a fresh start. The song is bursting with energy and charm, and every bar, fittingly, feels like it’s propelling you forward. The imagery introduces the Straw Hats’ new looks after the time skip, as well as showing them in action. After spending so long apart, the crew is raring to go, and “We Go!” is positively shining with infectious joy.

#2: “One day”

THE ROOTLESS

Set during the titanic Marineford War, “One day” does an excellent job showcasing all the huge conflict’s major players and their special abilities. But the heart of the arc, and the opening, is Luffy’s relationship with Ace and his central goal of rescuing his brother. The plaintive, nostalgic vocals and slower paced rock song emphasize this even further. “One day” hits different, and it hits hard, particularly given the tragic events that happen during the war. Revisiting it can be painful for some, but if an anime opening can bring you to tears, it’s gotta’ be doing something right, y’know?

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:

“OVER THE TOP”
Hiroshi Kitadani & Kohei Tanaka

“Hikari e”
The Babystars

“Crazy Rainbow”
Tackey & Tsubasa

“BON VOYAGE!”
Bon-Bon Blanco

“DREAMIN' ON”
Da-iCE

“PAINT”
I Don't Like Mondays.

#1: “We Are!”

Hiroshi Kitadani

Sometimes, the first time is the charm! One Piece’s first opening is beloved by fans, and it’s for more reasons than just nostalgia – after all, the many remakes and remixes, such as the version by TVXQ, are also spectacular! Everything about the opening is iconic, from the opening narration, to the action shots of the crew members, to the lively song that touches on the spirit of adventure that pervades the series. All in all, if we had to take a few minutes to encapsulate what “One Piece” looks and sounds like, there are few things we could point to that would do the job better than “We Are!”
