Top 10 Lucifer Villains

Top 10 Lucifer Villains
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: Saim Cheeda
These Lucifer villains are all devils in their own ways. For this list, we're looking at antagonists who've given the main characters on Lucifer their biggest challenges. Our countdown includes Uriel, Malcolm Graham, Cain, Michael, Father Kinley, and more!

#10: Eve

Seduced by Lucifer eons ago, Eve kept a flame alive for the fallen angel even in Heaven, and continues to harbor feelings for him millennia later. However, it’s an attraction that brings out the worst in both of them. While she's more of an anti-villain than a true antagonist, Eve's manipulation of Lucifer's feelings led him to give into his darkest desires. Eventually, Eve’s disregard for the obvious attraction between Chloe and Lucifer results in her inadvertently bringing demons to Earth. Fortunately, Eve does redeem herself by acknowledging her faults, although her actions result in Lucifer going back to Hell.

#9: Amenadiel

It took quite a while for the angelic brothers to reconcile, before which Amenadiel tried his best to force Lucifer's return to Hell. Serving as a constant reminder to Lucifer of his failures, Amenadiel stalks his brother for most of the first season. While he later turns over a new leaf, Amenadiel is originally apathetic to anybody's feelings, even conspiring with the corrupt cop Malcolm to have his own brother killed. The tension between Amenadiel and Lucifer spills out several times, with the two coming to blows in cosmic fashion. Amenadiel's manipulation of Linda also adds to his initially cold-hearted personality. Ultimately though, he does see the error of his ways, leading to him becoming one of the good guys.

#8: Demons

These entities are alluded to more than actually seen. However, tales of their thirst for pain, and Maze's own bloodthirsty personality, make it clear that the demons are to be feared. Their full power is finally revealed when they come to Earth. Liberated from Lucifer, these demons look to wreak havoc upon humans for their own twisted pleasure. Their level of malevolence knows no bounds, as the demons kidnap Amenadiel and Linda's baby Nephilim with hopes of raising the new kings of Hell. Interestingly, the demons seem to revel in their villainy, going so far as to make jokes about their cruel intentions.

#7: Goddess

Rarely has holding a grudge carried so much potential for collateral damage, but Lucifer's mother came frighteningly close. Having escaped Hell after a milennia of torture, the Goddess of the universe begins to instantly sway her sons' minds toward vengeance against God. Her ability to play the victim is such that it clouds her intentions. Carrying on the role of a doting mother, who wants to reunite with her children, Goddess also targets those close to Lucifer in order to remove anyone who might get in the way of her plans. To an extent, her centuries' long capture justifies her anger, but the pleasure she derives from her power is also hard to miss.

#6: The Sinnerman

If there's one villain who gets full points for being mysterious, it would have to be this guy. Responsible for kidnapping Lucifer, his true motivations are difficult to divine. But there’s no length he won’t go to in order to get what he wants - including gouging out his own eyes. This makes the Sinnerman anything but predictable. Unlike most criminals, the Sinnermam refuses to give up, not even when put under extreme torture by Maze and Lucifer himself. Unfortunately, his arc is concluded prematurely when he’s killed off. And turns out, he wasn’t even the real Sinnerman. Still, no one can forget how absolutely relentless this villain was.

#5: Father Kinley

The danger of blind judgement is perfectly personified by Father Kinley. Having convinced Chloe that Lucifer is the infamous devil of lore, Kinley manages to turn her against him. His charisma and charm allow him to create tension between the two without either realizing it. He also has no qualms in resorting to violence and murder, justifying evil acts as necessary for peace. Ironically, it’s actually Kinley’s belief that Lucifer and his first love will bring about calamity on Earth that results in disaster. Even in death, he succeeds in being a thorn for the heroes as his demise allows the demons to surface on Earth.

#4: Uriel

For a character like Lucifer, the greatest threats are those whom he doesn't want to fight. Even though Uriel's screentime was minimal, his impact hit Lucifer hard. Arriving to take out both Goddess and Chloe, Uriel displays an incredible set of powers that sees him beat both Amenadiel and Lucifer. He has a strong sense of honor, refusing to kill his brothers due to his love for them and because their deaths aren't part of his plan. Even after his demise, Uriel's presence is felt as Goddess and Lucifer are wracked with guilt for letting Uriel die.

#3: Cain

Playing the role of the tragic villain, Cain is an antagonist for whom we can feel a certain measure of sympathy. After suffering from immortality for centuries, Cain's one shot at happiness with Chloe is taken from him when she falls in love with Lucifer instead. It's this relatability that makes Cain such an engaging villain. Of course, while it's sad to watch him fail to move on, it's also unforgivable that he tries to murder almost all of the main characters - succeeding with Charlotte. Watching Cain give in to his dark side is cathartic, since he’s been through so much, but let’s not forget that he is the world’s first murderer and a criminal mastermind!

#2: Michael

Serving as the antithesis for everything Lucifer stands for, his twin brother personifies all the qualities expected from the devil. Priding himself on skills of duplicity that lead to calamity and chaos, Michael’s sole motive is to discredit his sibling. His jealousy of Lucifer results in Michael posing as his brother to turn his friends against him, all because of his insecurities for being considered Lucifer’s inferior. He even tries to seduce Chloe in a bid to one-up Lucifer. Exploiting people’s fear of others, Michael’s manipulations are both clever and cruel.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Perry Smith
Because of All the Childhood Trauma He Brings on Chloe

Maze
Et Tu, Mazikeen?

Julian McCaffrey
Because This Guy Was Nothing But a Slimeball

God
Because of All the Daddy Issues He Brings

Lucifer
Because the Devil’s Worst Enemy Might Just Be Himself

#1: Malcolm Graham

Ironically, the character likeliest to give people nightmares isn't a demonic entity, but a human. A complete psychopath, Malcolm is devious and cruel, and has no moral compunctions about hurting others in the name of self-preservation. He’s able to threaten people’s lives and their loved ones while retaining an air of nonchalance. First introduced as a falsely accused cop, he turns out to be one of the vilest villains of the bunch. From attempting to murder Lucifer, to outsmarting Amenadiel, and kidnapping Trixie, there’s no line that he won't cross. All this sets up his eventual defeat, although Malcolm remains the villain who laughed in the face of the devil.
