Top 10 Mighty Ducks Actors Where Are They Now
#10: Matt Doherty
Despite not having any lines, Matt Doherty began his acting career playing a character named Steffan McCallister in the first “Home Alone”. He can briefly be seen opening gifts in the Paris sequence. Fortunately, his acting career quickly prospered, and he played Les Averman throughout all three “Mighty Ducks” movies. Following “D3” in 1996, Doherty graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in theatre. He has continued acting, appearing in an uncredited role in “Argo” and receiving bit roles in shows like “Maron”, “Franklin & Bash”, and “Rosewood”. The latter proves his most recent role, playing Alan Rast in the second season episode “White Matter & the Ways Back”.
#9: Aaron Schwartz
This actor only appeared in the first “Mighty Ducks” movie, playing Dave Karp. Three years later, he earned the leading role as Gerry Garner in the family comedy, “Heavyweights”. Not long after that, Schwartz disappeared from Hollywood, resulting in a big gap in his filmography. He came back in the late 2000s, playing Vanya in fifteen episodes of “Gossip Girl” from 2009 to 2012. Schwartz also has the distinction of being part of the MCU, as he provided the facial reference for Young Ego in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”. He continues to act to this day, having appeared in the likes of “Young Sheldon”, “The Kominsky Method”, and “S.W.A.T.”.
#8: Shaun Weiss
After appearing in three episodes of “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” throughout 1986, Shaun Weiss rose to fame as Greg Goldberg. Weiss played the role of Greg throughout all three “Mighty Ducks” movies. Like Aaron Schwartz, he also starred in “Heavyweights”, and he had a recurring role in “Freaks and Geeks,” along with some other bit TV parts. Weiss retired from acting in 2008, after which he hit a few road bumps in his personal life. Throughout the late 2010s, Weiss faced numerous criminal charges. He luckily received help and entered rehab, and in September 2020, Weiss was declared 230 days sober. A personal friend, Drew Gallagher, stated that Weiss needed “psychiatric attention” and that he was receiving dental care to fix his teeth that had been ruined by drugs.
#7: Brandon Adams
This actor ruled the early ‘90s in his youth. He appeared in the first two “Mighty Ducks” movies as Jesse Hall and starred in the 1993 baseball classic “The Sandlot”. His role in “The Sandlot” earned Adams a Young Artist Award, and his performance as Fool Williams in “The People Under the Stairs” earned him a Saturn Award nomination. Unfortunately, Adams has remained relatively quiet since the mid-2000s, with his last major role being that of Raijin in the 2005 video game “Kingdom Hearts II”. However, Adams made himself known in 2018, appearing as himself in the documentary “Legends Never Die: The Sandlot Story”.
#6: Elden Henson
It seems like acting is in Henson’s blood. He joined SAG in the early ‘80s before he even turned 6, during which time he was already starring in a variety of commercials. Throughout the ‘90s, Henson starred as Fulton Reed in all three “Mighty Ducks” movies, not to mention the 1999 rom-com, “She’s All That”. Unlike some of the other actors on this list, Elden Henson has enjoyed continued mainstream success as an actor. He starred as Pollux in parts one and two of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” and portrayed Foggy Nelson throughout all three seasons of “Daredevil”. His role as Foggy also carried over to “The Defenders”, “Jessica Jones”, and “Luke Cage”.
#5: Jussie Smollett
You may not remember it but Jussie Smollett was once a child actor, having appeared in a few projects as a pre-teen - notably as Terry Hall in the first “Mighty Ducks.” His acting career stretched well into the 2010s, with Smollett appearing in “Alien: Covenant” and taking on the role of Langston Hughes in “Marshall.” But it was his performance as Jamal Lyon in the Fox musical drama “Empire” that proved to be his most groundbreaking. Unfortunately, Smollett’s reputation was tarnished in 2019 when he claimed to be the victim of an assault, with further investigation proving it had been staged. As a result, Smollett was indicted for making false police reports, was sued by the city of Chicago and his “Empire” character was dropped from the show’s last season.
#4: Marguerite Moreau
Following one episode of “The Wonder Years” in 1991, Marguerite Moreau played Mighty Ducks Forward Connie Moreau in all three “Mighty Ducks” films. Following the trilogy’s conclusion in 1996, Moreau received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Poughkeepsie’s Vassar College. However, that didn’t stop Moreau from pursuing acting. She continues to act to this day, primarily in television, in addition to occasional film roles like “Paddleton”. Moreau enjoyed recurring roles in both “Shameless” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, while also starring as Katie Finnerty in both “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” and “Ten Years Later”. She had also starred in the original film back in 2001.
#3: Kenan Thompson
This funnyman has been acting since the age of five, appearing in local church productions and school plays. In 1994, he starred as Russ Tyler in “D2” before reprising his role in “D3” two years later. It was around this time that Thompson stretched his sketch comedy talents, starring in the Nickelodeon sketch show, “All That”. It would prove highly fortuitous for his later career. In 2003, Thompson joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” and has remained there ever since, becoming the show’s all time longest-tenured cast member. He also continues to act, starring in his own NBC sitcom titled “Kenan” and earning the role of Gavin in the upcoming Disney+ reboot of “Home Alone”.
#2: Joshua Jackson
Arguably the “star” of the “Mighty Ducks” films, Joshua Jackson played team leader and captain Charlie Conway throughout all three films. And while Jackson has continued his movie career, most of his best work can arguably be found on television. Not too long after the 3rd Mighty Ducks film, he nabbed one of his most famous parts: Pacey from “Dawson’s Creek.” From 2008 to 2013, he starred as Peter in the sci-fi drama “Fringe”, and from 2014 to 2018, he played Cole Lockhart in “The Affair”, earning himself two People’s Choice Awards nominations. Jackson has starred as Mickey Joseph in “When They See Us” and Bill Richardson in “Little Fires Everywhere”. He’s set to star in the crime drama, “Dr. Death”, which will follow the real story of murderous surgeon Christopher Duntsch.
#1: Emilio Estevez
Following in his famous father’s footsteps, Emilio Estevez rose to prominence throughout the 1980s, becoming a member of the Brat Pack alongside the likes of Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, and Molly Ringwald - many of whom co-starred with Estevez in “The Breakfast Club”. Estevez went on to star as attorney-turned-coach Gordon Bombay in all three “Mighty Ducks” films, although his role in the third was greatly reduced. Following mostly TV roles and directing gigs, Estevez went on hiatus after 2010, but he returned in 2018, directing, writing, and starring in an independent film titled “The Public”. He’ll be reprising his role as Coach Bombay in the 2021 Disney+ series, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”, which will serve as a direct continuation of the film series.
