VOICE OVER: Lisa Yang WRITTEN BY: Francesca LaMantia
Script written by Francesca Savoy

These are some of the most cringeworthy tv kisses on tv! For this list we'll focusing on the most cringeworthy kisses from narrative TV shows. So reality TV shows don't count. We've included kisses between Ted & the Slutty Pumpkin from “How I Met Your Mother”, Mordecai & Margaret from “The Regular Show”. Wesley & Cordelia from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer and more!

#10: Ted & the Slutty Pumpkin

“How I Met Your Mother” (2005-14)

Ever the hopeless romantic, Ted finally tracks down a woman he met at a Halloween party after ten years of pining over her. What a magical story, right? Wrong. When they finally do kiss, they realize that they have no chemistry together whatsoever. Neither seems to know what to do with their hands and they just look altogether uncomfortable. But when Ted can’t even call the woman he’s been dreaming about for a decade by her first name, is it really so surprising things didn’t work out? Her name’s Naomi, Ted. He had such high expectations, there was no way possible things could have turned out as magical as he’d imagined.

#9: Mordecai & Margaret

“Regular Show” (2010-17)

Poor Mordecai just shouldn’t have eaten that chili dog. After a night out at the movies, he has a moment alone with Margaret, and the two kiss. Just like a sweet moment from any romantic comedy the two start fumbling around the car looking for Mordecai’s wallet . . . but then the mood changes when they realize the close quarters they are in . . . then comes the slow lean in, and the kiss. But the moment quickly turns from sweet to sour when Margaret pulls away, telling Mordecai that he has bad breath. And completely mortified, he frantically runs away.

#8: Schmidt & Jess

“New Girl” (2011-2018)

That’s right, Winston, Schmidt and Jess. Nick and Jess have become gotten serious, but when they were first starting out, things were simply seriously weird. After finding out that Nick kissed Jess, Schmidt is worried about the new power dynamic in the loft. So in an attempt to restore order, Schmidt and Jess kiss to negate her kiss with Nick, but it only makes things weirder. Imagine that! From the second their lips touch they both realize it was a mistake. Though neither of them did anything particularly wrong, and the actors certainly have chemistry together, there is just something about Schmidt and Jess that isn’t quite right.

#7: Nick & Jessi

“Big Mouth” (2017-)

Usually the big kiss comes during the season finale, but this time it occurs in the show’s premiere episode. After he is rejected by another girl, Jessi consoles Nick by telling him how great he is, and the two end up in a sloppy kiss. The sound of their lips smacking together is gross on its own, but then the added image of them literally swapping spit is nearly nauseating. Nick probably shouldn’t have followed his friends’ terrible advice on his kissing technique, which Jessi analyzes after they're done.

#6: Liz & Jack

“30 Rock” (2006-13)

Liz and Jack ride a very fine line in their relationship, somehow managing to be both friends and adversaries at the same time. Many shows like to turn frenemies into couples, but the tension between Liz and Jack is anything but sexual. So when Liz and Jack kiss, it just ends up being hilarious. When Jack’s kidnapped wife returns, he must hide the relationship he’s been having with her mother. So after the two get caught kissing, Liz tries to play it off as a thing that Jack does with everyone. Both realize that they must now kiss each other to sell it and very reluctantly lock lips. Liz’s disgusted expression pretty much says it all.

#5: Wesley & Cordelia

“Buffy The Vampire Slayer” (1997-2003)

When Buffy and Faith’s new dopey watcher, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, arrived in Sunnydale, there was an immediate attraction between him and Cordelia. AAs he's getting ready to go back to England, the two share what might have been a romantic goodbye if not for the cringeworthy farewell kiss. It is like watching a car accident; it’s hard to watch, but at the same time, you just can’t look away. Though they both put up a valiant effort to make it work, it just doesn't. Cordelia even visibly wipes off her mouth.

#4: Tracey & Connor

“Chewing Gum” (2015-)

In this British sitcom, having lived a somewhat sheltered life, Michaela Coel’s Tracey is eager to embark on some new experiences. Number one on her to do list is to lose her virginity, so she pursues a struggling poet named Connor. While it may not be too much of a surprise that she doesn’t really know what she’s doing, her attempts at being sexual come off as funny, and just plain weird. Connor tries his best to be a good sport about the whole thing, but there is no denying his confusion about the whole thing.

#3: Charlotte & Brad

“Sex And The City” (1998-2004)

According to Carrie, the only thing that makes the the possible horror of a first date worthwhile, is the potential magic of the good night kiss. Unfortunately for Charlotte, Brad’s terrible kissing sucks all the magic right out and flushes it. He basically just licks her whole face like a dog giving its owner sloppy kisses, except not nearly as cute. And though she gamely tries to help him up his kissing game, it is of no use. Apparently, it’s his thing. And, from now on, he will forever go down in history as “Brad the bad kisser”.

#2: Phoebe & Chandler

“Friends” (1994-2004)

Rachel and Joey together might have been a seriously awkward pairing, but it does not hold a candle to Phoebe and Chandler. As all the friends start to find out about Monica and Chandler’s secret relationship, Rachel and Phoebe decide to mess with them. What starts out as harmless fun, turns into an all out war of who can out seduce who. Both grow more and more visibly nervous as things escalate. At this point both Chandler and Phoebe know that the other is in on the game, but neither wants to cave. It all culminates in a hilarious, and unforgettable, kiss.

#1: Michael & Oscar

“The Office” (2005-13)

After finding out that Oscar is gay, Michael accidentally outs him in front of the whole office. As is Michael Scott’s signature style, while trying to make things better, he only makes things worse. He puts on perhaps the most insensitive sensitivity meeting ever in which he forces a kiss on Oscar to prove how okay he is with homosexuality. But not before Oscar gives Michael a piece of his mind on what he thinks about him. Oscar is just so visibly disgusted by Michael; and the entire office is made uncomfortable by the whole ordeal.
