Top 10 Most Powerful Anime Couples (ft. Todd Haberkorn)
VOICE OVER: Todd Haberkorn
Well, you know what they say about couples who slay together. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Powerful Anime Couples.

For this list, we'll be looking at the lovers in anime who aren't only committed to one other, but can also hold their own in a fight. Keep in mind we'll only be including characters who are confirmed as couples, so no Meliodas and Elizabeth, and only those that are physically powerful, so no pairings where only one half can hold their own weight like Simon and Nia!

Well, you know what they say about couples who slay together. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Powerful Anime Couples.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the lovers in anime who aren’t only committed to one other, but can also hold their own in a fight. Keep in mind we’ll only be including characters who are confirmed as couples, so no Meliodas and Elizabeth, and only those that are physically powerful, so no pairings where only one half can hold their own weight like Simon and Nia!

#10: Ikki & Stella

“Chivalry of a Failed Knight” (2015)

Two Mage Knights for the price of one. While Ikki is technically regarded as the worst of the bunch given his total lack of magic control, his skills as a swordsman remain unsurpassed, to the point where he was able to defeat the strongest Desperado with but a single slash. His Crimson Princess is no slouch either, since her command of Dragon Manipulation has left many of her opponents literally roasted. Given the pedigree of their colleagues, their triumphs are no small feat. The only thing hotter than their magic is their relationship!

#9: Tatsumi & Mine

“Akame ga Kill!” (2014)

As members of the covert assassination group Night Raid, its no surprise that these two are well equipped when it comes to killing. The Genius Sniper may have quite the attitude on her, but when it comes to her trigger finger, she always gets her mark. On the other hand you’ve got newbie Tatsumi, whose body count pile increased exponentially after joining up with the miniature league of assassins. There’s no debate when it comes to their murderous skills, and thanks to that dying kiss of theirs, they just manage to squeak by into the couple’s category.

#8: Koichi & Yukako

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable” (2016)

Let’s just gloss over the fact that Yukako actively stalked, kidnapped, humiliated and nearly killed her short-stacked prince, shall we? Following on from their less than pleasant first encounter, these two opposites soon found themselves yearning for each other in the most unexpected of ways. Yukako learned patience and was willing to change herself drastically for the sake of the one she loved, while Koichi let his inner best boy shined through and accepted her for who she is. And if you want to talk about power...well, let’s be fair, do you really want to start a fight with two Stand Users known for wrecking people’s shit?

#7: Hiro & Zero Two

“Darling in the Franxx” (2018)

Nothing is stronger than the power of love…well, that and mechanised ass-handles. While their relationship may have drifted towards the toxic side after Zero Two gave her darling an alien illness, the two found new love together after both were able to look past all the violence, trauma and hormones to come together (ahem) not only as partners, but also combine their talents to create a living spaceship capable of decimating an entire intergalactic army. Turns out their passion for each other is only matched by their hatred of VIRM.

#6: Kaneki & Touka

“Tokyo Ghoul” series (2014-18)

While nearly getting devoured, tortured to the point of madness and suffering an identity crisis, at least Kaneki always had one single silver lining at the edge of all his pain, and that’s a certain feisty Ghoul well known to tearing apart those that would threaten her family. While Kaneki’s talents as a One Eyed Powerhouse speak for themselves (you just have to the look at the amount of Ghoul and CCG corpses) it’s good to know his beloved is just as capable when it comes to taking a bite out of anyone who would threaten their love. How’s that for hot coffee?

#5: Domon & Rain

“Mobile Fighter G Gundam” (1994-95)

You know you’re a power couple when the combined might of your love is strong enough to smite something as deadly as the Devil Gundam. Even if said attack is called Erupting Burning Finger Sekiha Love-Love Tenkyoken. While Rain is mainly known for being a top-notch engineer, she is far and beyond one of the most capable ladies in the whole Gundam franchise. Not only can she pilot a Mobile Suit, but is one of the few capable of contending with Domon’s intense personality. They may be like fire and water, but they complement each other perfectly.

#4: Kirito & Asuna

“Sword Art Online” series (2012-)

While in reality they may not be that physically capable, in the gaming sphere, these two are absolute beasts. Whether its Sword Art Online, Alfheim Online, Gun Gale Online or Underworld, Kirito has shown that whatever virtual world he’s plunged into, he will always rise up to the challenge, and more likely slice apart any Final Boss in his way. Asuna may not have as much of a kill count, but even when parted from her in-game hubby, has shown great talent when it comes to leadership and strategy. As for how much they adore each other…well…the show certainly doesn’t let you forget it!

#3: Shirou & Saber

“Fate/stay night” (2006)

Their development may have been better explored in other entries in the Fate-verse, especially when it comes to their staggering abilities, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact this particular adaptation of the Fate route still displays just how well Shirou and Saber work together as both fighters as lovers. Their romance is truly endearing, their combined might proved strong enough to take on the likes of Gilgamesh. Honestly their strength mirrors their love life; steadfast and unbreakable, be very afraid Rin & Sakura.

#2: Krillin & Android 18

“Dragon Ball” series (1986-)

While you could technically look to Goku and Chi Chi as an obvious example of a Dragon Ball couple that knows how to throw down we’re going to have to hand it to Krillin and his illustrious cyborg paramour this time around, mainly due to the fact their power levels are a lot more equal. Probably the most unlikely of couples in the Dragon Ball franchise, their relationship and dynamic has become a lot more wholesome over the years. You’d think we’d get used to the blonde bombshell casually fawning over her hubby, and yet it continues to endear us!

#1: Sasuke & Sakura

“Naruto” series (2002-)

Married life may have slightly dulled Sakura’s fighting prowess, but it’s fair to say during the Fourth Great Ninja War, she was more than capable of holding her own alongside her crush. Say what you will about their attraction, but thanks to her super strength, advanced healing and ability to summon a giant slug, Sakura proved herself a valuable asset against the likes of Madara and Kaguya. As for Sasuke…do we really nearly need to say it? The dude has both the Sharingan and Rinnegan at his disposal, standing as one of the most powerful shinobi of the modern era. Questionable romance aside, their coupling sure packs a punch!
