Top 10 Most Savage Anime Trash Talkers

Top 10 Most Savage Anime Trash Talkers
VOICE OVER: Riccardo Tucci WRITTEN BY: Alex Crilly-Mckean
With put-downs like these, they don't even need to raise a hand. Join Ashley as he counts down the anime characters with a talent for trash talking, as seen in such hit anime as "My Hero Academia", "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", "Yu Yu Hakusho", "Dragon Ball Z", "Dr Stone", "Yu-Gi-Oh", "Black Lagoon", "Fate/Zero", "Vinland Saga", and more!

#10: Gene Starwind

“Outlaw Star” (1998)

A suave captain in charge of a gang of crazy misfits that traverses across the galaxy? Of course Gene was going to have a mouth on him, and while it more often than not got him into a world of cosmic trouble, it’s also proved great for spitting out one liners while simultaneously blasting a Caster Shell into the ass of a random space pilot. He’s one cocky bastard, but his endearing legacy ensures that no matter how many times he tries and fails with the godly waifus aboard, he’s got a snarky comeback for every occasion.

#9: Neito Monoma

“My Hero Academia” (2016-)

Yeah, the guy never knows when to shut his mouth, and most of the time everything he has to say is an insult that barely disguises an inferiority complex the size of the moon. It’s little wonder so many of his classmates have to keep knocking him out. That being said, before he went all hammy on us, Monoma’s comments back at the Sports Festival were…pretty on point. The way in which he manipulated Bakugo, insulted his Quirk and basically took a Class-1B dump all over his group was downright scathing. Shigaraki might want to take note.

#8: Senku Ishigami

“Dr. Stone” (2019-)

Just because you’re saving all of civilisation and reintroducing science into a world long gone doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun at the local’s expense. While his mind is as vast as an ocean with the capacity to bring forth the likes of electricity and modern medicine into a future where everything has gone back to the (literal) stone age, Senku is also something of a cheeky git. Whether it’s the inside comments he makes to his slightly dim-witted buddy Taiju, overshadowing Chrome’s scientific know-how, immediately divorcing Ruri, his side jabs are extensive. Heck, he was so certain of his get out of death free card, he threw shade at Tsukasa before he “killed” him!

#7: Vegeta

“Dragon Ball Z” (1989-96)

He’s the Prince of Saiyans, but most of us know him as the Prince of Sass. When he was kicking it back as a Saiyan Elite under Frieza’s rule, Vegeta was just about the most arrogant villain that you could hope to meet, to the point where he was happy to destroy the Earth with a Galick Gun after Goku proved himself to be “slightly” stronger than he anticipated. Even during his slow, slow, slow conversion to the side of good, that pride never quite left Big V. Mocking Frieza, crapping on Cell’s imperfect nature, and that’s ignoring the snide remarks he makes to his own family and literally EVERYONE else.

#6: Joseph Joestar

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” (2012-13)

Jonathan may settle challenges like a gentleman, Jotaro may just smashes faces in, Josuke may apologise unless someone makes fun of his hair, Giorno may go full on gangster, but only one Joestar has tried to end a fight by bullshitting his foe into submission. That’s Joseph for you – the man who perfected running away from danger, pulling tommy guns out of his behind, playing such next level mind games on his enemies that he makes them question their own sanity.

#5: Seto Kaiba

“Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters” (2000-04)

Jeez, not even children’s card games are safe from savage put downs, especially when this billionaire dragon lover is on the prowl. Given his uber arrogance, Kaiba never misses a beat when it comes to throwing down in a game of Duel Monsters, with his insults towards his opponent often more devastating than when he plays the Blue Eyes White Dragon. Even when he became slightly less of an asshole, he was still comparing Joey to that of a dog!

#4: Askeladd

“Vinland Saga” (2019)

The amount of mental manipulation, pre-planning and dedication this guy had when it came to playing both sides in order to achieve his own goals was downright masterful. Right up until the end, he treaded the line between decent-hearted man and the cruellest of thugs. Of course, the one thing that remained consistent throughout the slaughter and the schemes was Askeladd’s innate ability to talk circles around his opponent and really get under their skin. Thorfinn was a regular target of this, easily fooled into carrying out the mercenary’s will thanks to a few empty promises. That being said, nothing tops the time he verbally decapitated the King of Denmark…before actually decapitating him.

#3: Gilgamesh

“Fate” Series (2006-)

When you’re recognised as a King of Heroes and your exploits reach all the way back to Babylonian legend, you’d be forgiven for having a bit of an ego. Sadly, this Archer-class Servant thinks all should worship the very ground he walks upon, viewing all as beneath him. The hubris just doesn’t stop at his words, since with the power of the Gates of Babylon backing him up, Gilgamesh is free to talk shit all the live long day while his Noble Phantasm cuts down anyone who tries to clap back.

#2: Revy

“Black Lagoon” (2006)

It doesn’t matter if you’re law enforcement, a thug, a pair of vampire twins or a death dealing maid, this enforcer of Lagoon Company will shoot and curse you to an early grave all the same. Equipped with a sailor’s mouth that puts every other anime gal to shame, Revy is a ball of rage whose swear-filled rants are truly a sight see, more often than not ending with someone getting riddled with bullets from her signature pair of pistols.

#1: Yusuke Urameshi

“Yu Yu Hakusho” (1992-94)

He may be fighting on the side of good but that doesn’t mean he has to be nice about it. The original bad boy of shounen protagonists, Yusuke tends to be one who talks with his fists rather than with his words, but when he does feel like chatting you can bet he’ll be more than happy to rinse any demon out with a few killer insults. Either that or he’ll just verbally trip up Kuwabara for the millionth time. The boy has no filter, but that’s why we love him.
