Which anime beating had you reeling back from the sheer brutality? Let us know in the comments below.

#10: Shinra Gets Beaten up by Charon

“Fire Force” (2019-20)

Built like a tank, and packing plenty of firepower, the White-Clad Charon is a beast among pyrokinetics. While trying to capture the Fifth Pillar, Charon’s attempts are impeded by the arrival of Shinra. Although Shinra’s kicks are powerful, every blow only serves to add more fuel to Charon’s explosive flame. What follows is an intense and well-animated beatdown as Charon easily overpowers Shinra, delivering devastating counters, as well as dragging him through multiple buildings. Even the power of Shinra’s demonic trump card fails to put Charon down, allowing him to strike the winning blow.

#9: Gaia Beats up Sikorsky

“Baki” (2018-20)

There is no shortage of brutal beatings in the underground martial arts world that Baki calls home. However, the battle between death row inmate Sikorsky and the super soldier Gaia, has proven to be especially hardcore. With his knowledge of environmental combat and psychological warfare, Gaia makes quick work of Sikorsky. Although Sikorsky is a dangerous criminal capable of surviving a fall from a tall building, his encounter with Gaia leaves him wounded and terrified, while his opponent emerges completely unscatheded. Honestly, if Sikorsky couldn’t defeat Baki, what hope did he have of beating Gaia?

#8: Masataka Beats up Souichiro

“Tenjho Tenge” (2004)

Who knew that a classroom brawl could get so out of hand? In his quest to prove himself as the strongest fighter at Toudou Academy, Souchiro is challenged by Juken Club member Masataka. When Masataka’s skills prove to be more overwhelming than expected, Souichiro resorts to fighting dirty. After Souichiro uses a trick to land a blow on his opponent, things take a turn for the worse when Masataka completely loses it. What follows is a brutal beating that crushes Souichiro in both mind and body, with an emphasis on bodily harm. Yeesh Masakata, all this over a lunch box?

#7: Broly Beats up Everyone

“Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan” (1993)

When it comes to brutality and ruthlessness in the “Dragon Ball” franchise, none quite compare to the OG Broly. Tortured as a baby by a crying Goku and raised by his scheming father, Broly grew up to become an unstable, yet powerful monster capable of destroying an entire galaxy. After his nature as the Legendary Super Saiyan is revealed, he takes his fury out on Goku and the Z-Fighters, beating most of them within an inch of their lives. Really, it’s a miracle they were able to beat him in the first place.

#6: Hanzo Gives Gon a Thrashing

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)

While determination is a noble quality to have, in some cases all it does is lead to more pain. After reaching the final stage of the Hunter exam, Gon is paired to fight the ninja Hanzo. While Gon is stronger than the average human, Hanzo still proves to be his superior. Outmatched, Gon endures an intense three hour beating from Hanzo who tries to force him to surrender. Despite breaking his arm, putting a knife to his head and even threatening to cut off his legs, Gon refuses to surrender. In the end, Gon’s determination impresses Hanzo who concedes defeat, but not before giving Gon one final blow after he refuses his surrender. Seriously Gon, ever hear of not pushing your luck?

#5: Geld Beats Shogo

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” (2018-)

When an invasion from an enemy kingdom results in casualties among citizens of the Jura Tempest Federation, Rimuru and his followers are eager for some payback. Among the many revenge battles, one of the most brutal and most satisfying goes to Geld thrashing Shogo. Initially confident in his victory, Shogo’s arrogance proves to be his undoing as the Orc Lord’s heir easily overpowers him. Even after Shogo gains the ability to regenerate by killing his comrade Kirara, Geld still pummels him into the ground and breaks down his flesh using his Rot skill. Essentially turning Shogo’s regeneration against him and prolonging his suffering. Geld's tactics may be overkill, but considering what Shogo did to Shion and the others, he more than has this coming.

#4: Lucy Heartfilia’s Underwater Beating

“Fairy Tail” (2009-19)

The only thing worse than a one-sided beating, is a one-sided beating where your opponent has sadistic tendencies. During the events of the Naval Battle at the Grand Magic Games, Lucy is the only remaining competitor to stand against Sabertooth’s Minerva for first place. Although it is a simple matter for Minerva to make Lucy lose by ringout, she instead chooses to teach her a lesson in pain. Using both her magic and her fists, Minerva dishes out a cruel and unnecessary beating, all while relishing in the agony she forces Lucy to endure.

#3: Yusuke Gets Back at Bakken

“Yu Yu Hakusho” (1992-94)

After Kurama is rendered unconscious from a previous battle during the Dark Tournament, Bakken, a member of Team Masho, takes advantage of a loophole and attempts to beat him to death. Pissed off and eager to avenge his comrade, Yusuke threatens Bakken and takes Kurama’s place. When Bakken covers the area in mist, Yusuke is initially on guard. However, he grows more confident upon realizing that Bakken’s attacks feel more like love taps and quickly turns the tables on him. When Yusuke pushes Bakken into a corner, the latter starts begging for mercy in a desperate attempt to lower Yusuke’s guard. Unfortunately, Bakken’s deception fails and only serves to hasten his demise as Yusuke proceeds to break every major bone in his body.

#2: Jotaro Gets Revenge Against Steely Dan

“JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders” (2014-15)

A run-in with the assassin Steely Dan, forces Jotaro to comply with his absurd demands, or risk the life of his grandfather. From using him as a bridge to even beating him and framing him for shoplifting, Dan relishes every opportunity to humiliate Jotaro. Unfortunately for Dan, Jotaro takes note of everything he’s put him through, and bides his time until he can strike back. After Jotaro’s comrades successfully remove Dan’s Stand from Joseph, he resorts to cowardly tactics by attempting to take a child hostage. Fortunately, Kakyoin’s quick thinking puts a stop to Dan’s plan, allowing Jotaro to carry out his sweet revenge by dishing out a brutal barrage of karmic retribution courtesy of Star Platinum.

#1: Seishu Akoya Brutalizes Imai Cosmo

“Kengan Ashura” (2019)

Driven by his own ruthless brand of justice, Akoya eliminates anyone he deems guilty regardless of the severity of their sins. During his fight against Imai Cosmo, the young fighter experiences first hand how Akoya got the title of “Executioner.” Along with using his fingers to puncture Cosmo’s arm, Akoya even goes as far as to rip out a piece of his flesh. However, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Akoya takes things even further by brutally torturing Cosmo as well. Refusing to grant Cosmo the satisfaction of blacking out from the pain, Akoya forces him back to reality to continue torturing him, much to the audience's horror. In the end, Akoya’s beating actually motivates Cosmo into achieving victory, albeit at great cost to his own body.
