These are the most memorable gene-sharing organisms of the big screen. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 movie clones. For this list, we’ve chosen film clones that have an impact on the main character, cause us to question existence, or that are just straight up badass. Please be advised, spoilers ahead!

Roughly two centuries after the events of the third “Alien” flick, military scientists attempt to recreate the Xenomorphs to turn them into weapons, while using a clone made from the DNA of the deceased Ellen Ripley as a host. Ripley then finds out that she is the eighth clone attempt, and the only successful one so far. With the aliens loose on the ship after the scientists fail to contain them, it is up to Ripley (again) to escape and ensure these extra-terrestrials don’t reach Earth.

In this Michael Bay flick, we are introduced to a dystopian society where residents have the opportunity to win the ‘lottery’ and get to live on The Island, which many consider paradise. However, it is soon revealed that this island is something more sinister than people are led to believe. Ewan McGregor’s character, Lincoln Six Echo, then discovers that his entire existence is a lie, and that he and his fellow compound inhabitants are actually all clones bred by the wealthy so that their organs can be harvested. The remainder of the sci-fi thriller sees McGregor and Scarlett Johansson team up in effort to liberate the other clones from their impending doom.

Michael Keaton plays Doug Kinney, a man who has trouble balancing his work and personal life. Thanks to “modern” science however, he has found a way to alleviate the stress: cloning himself. After making another clone of himself to make his life easier, Kinney’s two clones begin to develop their own character traits and personalities. One clone even goes as far as making a copy of himself in order to make his life easier, and well… you should never copy a copy! The result is a hilarious and farfetched story that allows Michael Keaton to shine, and shine, and shine...

In this sci-fi thriller, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Adam Gibson, a man who returns home from work and discovers he has been replaced by a clone of himself. Here’s the twist though: in the world of this film, cloning humans is illegal. Unable to convince anyone who the real Gibson is, he is chased down by a group of assassins who want him dead. What makes the film so captivating is watching Gibson’s fight to get his life and identity back, all while having to uncover the reason why he was cloned.

After the first successful manned mission to Mars, astronaut Patrick becomes infected with mutant alien DNA. Running amok on Earth by spreading the DNA to every woman he encounters, members of his old expedition team up with genetically modified Eve to better understand the threat Patrick carries. After much observation, Eve becomes infatuated with Patrick and her desire to be with him takes over. She breaks free of her containment cell, and seeks out to mate with another alien life form.

These soldiers are the enforcers of the Galactic Republic. Cloned from bounty hunter Jango Fett, clone troopers are elite soldiers bred to aid the Republic against the Separatist movement. After fighting alongside the Jedi Knights in the Clone Wars, Chancellor Palpatine turns all clones against the Jedi, so that the Sith can control the galaxy from the behind the scenes. The clone troopers, now Storm Troopers, serve the Emperor’s bidding as they dominate the galaxy...well at least in the later revisions of the original trilogy.

In the first “Resident Evil” movie, Alice awakens with amnesia in the secret laboratory called The Hive, where the Umbrella Corporation conducts genetic and military experiments. Throughout the film series, she encounters multiple clones of herself, which were created to help reverse the effects of the deadly T-virus. Perhaps the most chilling encounter of the clones is when Alice discovers a pile of discarded ones that have failed the testing procedure. Dozens of clones had been created, all of which were killed in the testing process.

This is the result of a cloning experiment gone hilariously wrong. While frozen in space, Dr. Evil’s henchmen attempted to clone him. The result is a clone that resembles Dr. Evil in every single way, except for one small detail…he’s 1/8th his size. Mini-Me joins Dr. Evil’s team as they terrorize the world. Though small in stature, Mini-Me effectively thwarts Austin Power’s efforts while providing ample laughs in this goofball comedy.

Jack soon discovers pods of clones of himself that the aliens have been producing to hoard resources from the planet, which leads to another existential crisis that really leaves you thinking.
