Top 10 Noob Weapons In Video Games
Oh, of course, they’re using THAT weapon! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for Top Ten Noob Weapons in Video Games.
For this list, we’ll be looking at weapons in both single player and multiplayer games that don’t take very much skill to use but guarantee a high kill count.
"Turok 2: Seeds of Evil" (1998)
What might be the most cringe-inducing weapon on this list, the Cerebral Bore is just as deadly as it is painful to watch. This gruesome rifle launches a projectile that latches onto the head of its prey and the proceeds to drill into their skulls and finishes them off with a small explosion, resulting in a shower of blood and bone. The best part about this handheld nightmare is that you don’t even need to aim as it is able to automatically lock onto whatever unlucky sucker happens to walk around the corner. It’s cheap, easy and oh so satisfying.
"Titanfall" (2014)
High-speed games like Titanfall are all about two things: mobility and precision. You have to balance your momentum and your aim in order to really rack up a high kill count… or you could just fly around with a pistol that automatically locks onto your competitors and blows ‘em away. While the smart pistol isn’t the most powerful weapon in the game, and you’re more likely to lose a firefight against an experienced player with a rifle (or a titan) the inclusion of it takes some of the fun out of a game that demands high skill from the player.
"Fallout 4" (2015)
Is a gang of scruffy raiders blocking your path? You can try your luck at stealth and sneak past them, or you could use one of your vast array of post-apocalypse weapons such as the mini-nuking launching Fat Man to take them all out in a single blast. This weapon takes explosions to a whole new level and is capable of killing most threats in one shot even if you don’t land a direct hit. Even the dreaded Death Claw is no match for this beast. The only downside is that ammunition isn’t exactly plentiful and you’re more than likely to take yourself along with your enemies.
"Halo: Combat Evolved" (2001)
Pistols are supposed to be close-range weapons, right? Well, apparently this game didn’t get the memo as the pistol here is about as devastating as a sniper rifle found in any other game. Boasting a powerful punch and a questionable zoom function, the handgun makes quick work of any enemy in the single-player campaign, and can down your shields in just a few shots in a multiplayer match. It’s not even a pick-up like the sniper rifle or rocket launcher, you spawn with the thing automatically. It’s a must for any player that wants to get some quick kills.
"Monster Hunter" series (2004-)
Monster Hunter is a series that demands patience. If you don’t exploit openings and time your attacks then you’ll be left defenseless for some deadly counter-attacks. There’s a variety of weapons to choose from the assist in your battle against these massive beasts such as the slow-moving Great Sword. Alternatively, if that’s too hard for you then you can just take the much faster Long Sword and down monsters in about half the time. There are very little downsides to using the long sword. It has high attack power, a long reach, and some great mobility. But its ease of use takes away the joy of mastering some of the series more unique and complicated weapons.
"Super Smash Bros." series (1999-)
The Smash series is known to have some pretty powerful items like the proximity mine, bomb, and laser sword. However, the hammer is by far the most devastating, and the easiest to use when you want to rack up a ton of kills. When you pick up this beast, you automatically swing it for a short period of time and anyone caught in your path suffers a huge amount of damage which often results in an instant kill. The only downside is that your movement is slightly limited, and in newer games there’s a chance that the head will fly off, rendering it useless.
"Perfect Dark" (2000)
Surprise, surprise a weapon that can both see and shoot through walls made it onto this list. A relatively notorious weapon for anyone that grew up playing shooters during the Nintendo 64 era, using this weapon is basically cheating. The alien rifle has a zoom function that allows the user to view player silhouettes through any wall in the game, and its beam is powerful enough to punch through and strike its target. You’d imagine it would take more than a few hits to kill someone, you know for balance reasons? But nope, it’s as powerful and cheap as you would expect.
"Dark Souls 3" (2016)
Dark Souls is known for having an intense weapon meta when it comes to multiplayer PVP that gives players who follow it a huge advantage over less knowledgeable opponents. In Dark Souls 3, straight swords were the ideal choice to bring any fight due to their high speed, attack power, and relatively low skill ceiling. The Dark Sword is one of the best straight swords in the game thanks to the “Stomp” weapon art that boosts a players poise, defensive and chains into a fast follow up attack. Prepare to die if you decide to fight a dark sword-wielding player with anything that isn’t another straight sword.
Multiple Games
From the early days of Perfect Dark to the modern day competitive shooters such as Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch, the deployable turret has always been a reliable tool for obliterating your enemy. It’s ideal for defensive strategies, and in the hands of a skilled player, a turret can keep the enemy team at bay almost indefinitely. However, not all players use it like that and they often set the machine up around tight corners and in out-of-the-way spots that offer no real strategic benefits to the team but allows them to rack up quick kills with zero effort involved.
"Call of Duty" series (2003-)
Let’s be honest here, a grenade launcher is deadly in the hands of any player especially in the Call of Duty series. Its high damage compared to the relatively low health pool CoD is known for means you can shoot this thing in the general direction of a player and you’re more than likely to nab a kill. The infamous under-sling version of the grenade launcher acts as an add-on for assault rifles meaning you don’t have to use up a weapon slot and you have quicker access to your instant kill. It’s called a “noob tube” for a reason, folks.
