Top 10 Phineas and Ferb Inventions

Top 10 Phineas and Ferb Inventions
VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Michael Evans
These "Phineas and Ferb" inventions make us envy their summer. Our countdown includes supercomputer, portal to Mars, backyard beach, and more!

#10: Backyard Fort
“Thaddeus and Thor”

When Phineas and Ferb’s dopplegangers, Thaddeus and Thor, come on the scene with plans to create a backyard fort, we don’t know what to think. The stakes are raised when Phineas and Ferb’s sister, Candace, makes it a fort-building competition between the two duos. Things look bad for our heroes when Thaddeus and Thor unveil their impressive creation, and it gets worse when their own very rudimentary fort is unveiled. But, as is often the case, there is more to Phineas and Ferb’s invention than initially meets the eye. A press of a button reveals possibly the perfect backyard fort... even if it did lack a licorice dispenser.

#9: Jump & Duck Video Game
“Gaming the System”

Inspired by their friend Buford’s hand-held video game, Jump and Duck, Phineas and Ferb set out to improve upon it. And, when Candace wonders about them, “getting sucked into a video game,” the die is cast. They create a fully-immersive video game, complete with a digitizer that literally sucks the player into the video game world. Unfortunately, Candace, wearing only a towel and armed with a hair dryer is the first to enter the game. They really should’ve programmed in some cheat codes. Phineas and Ferb enter the game to save her, but things get fun when Candace realizes she can use her hair dryer to defeat foes. The final boss is a giant version of Buford, who takes them on in real life. How did they not get busted?

#8: Supercomputer
“Ask a Foolish Question”

Looking to do something nice for your mom? Well, why not build a supercomputer, and ask it what you should do for her? It’s better than getting her a slide rule! Once Phineas and Ferb’s supercomputer is built and it scans the area for all information, it is ready to answer any and all questions with its infallible logic. At first, the convoluted plan laid out by the supercomputer makes no sense: float hair dye and a leaf blower from balloons released from a nearby mountain, have Candace build a device out of a toaster and incorporate Doofenschmitz’s latest “-inator.” … all to fix their mom’s bad hairdo? Well, it worked, and that is all that matters.

#7: Alien Spaceship
“Chronicles of Meap”

This summer’s day starts as many do... with, well, Phineas and Ferb playing catch with their automatic baseball gloves that throw a ball into space, causing an alien spaceship to crash into their backyard. It’s what happens next that’s even more interesting. Piloting the craft is the adorable, “Meap,” and the lads decide they must help him reunite with his father by rebuilding his ship. What they do is soup up the ship into something much better: a muscle car version. And it’s a good thing, too, because Meap’s “father” is really an intergalactic poacher who is hunting Meap. Cue the twists, turns, and mustache-swapping, but it all pales in comparison to Meap’s new sweet ride.

#6: Everything Coaster
“Last Day of Summer”

What do you do on the last day of summer vacation? You make something so wonderful, that it incorporates all of the amazing things you built all summer long — and more — that’s what. Y’know, something that is true “grand finale” material. The ride itself is jaw-dropping, even by Phineas and Ferb standards, with loops, slides, transporters, and even a thing that briefly turns the characters into their corresponding voice actors. Everything. And when Doofenschmirtz’s “do-over-inator” causes the days to repeat, the boys remake it again and again: floating, traveling through space, it’s all good. A fitting final invention.

#5: Portal to Mars
“Unfair Science Fair”

When their friend, Baljeet, needs to build a prototype portal to Mars so he can get a good grade, Phineas and Ferb know exactly what they are going to do for the day. After it is built, and Baljeet wipes the uncontrollable smile off his face, they fire it up… and cue the science fair taking place on Mars. Baljeet earns an A+++ in his Science Fair, and for this invention also a place of pride on our list. The Portal does mistakenly get plugged into a high voltage outlet and, as a result, gets whisked off to Mars, but that only makes it more impressive, right?

#4: Treehouse Robots
“Tree to Get Ready”

This summer’s day starts off fairly lackluster, with Phineas and Ferb already having built a pretty impressive treehouse, including an inner tube slingshot that takes them to its highest level. But when their friend, Isabella, notices that Candace’s old treehouse is in very bad shape, the boys decide to give it a makeover. The upgraded treehouse has everything: a buffet, entertainment center, and even some literal bells and whistles. Things really kick-off when Candace and her friend use the bouncy elevator to spring up to the top level of her structure. Turns out, the top level of each house is the control center from which the fighting treehouses are controlled. With the press of a button, each house turns into a giant fighting robot!

#3: Football X-7
“My Fair Goalie”

With Ferb’s cousins visiting from England, Phineas and Ferb decide to prove that Ferb’s “British-ness” is still intact, by accepting their invitation to have a game of football (what North Americans call “soccer”). But, they agree to play under “Football X-7” rules, a game they describe as “only theoretical.” In order to play this, shall we say, innovative game, the lads make the world’s first “Football X-7” stadium. Played inside a huge sphere, this sport has all the trappings of the “beautiful game” but with additional rocking music, club lighting, rotating goals, and slightly less stringent rules regarding player safety.

#2: Backyard Beach
“Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror!”

To beat the summer heat, Phineas and Ferb decide to build a beach in their backyard. What starts out as a sandbox with some water hosed in, becomes a major production requiring construction workers and heavy equipment. When fully constructed, the beach is enormous, apparently covering all or most of the city of Danville, and a good chunk of the Tri-State area, to boot. And this is no run-of-the-mill beach. Among other things, it features surfing, parasailing, a pier, “wetski” rentals, and, for some reason, holographic projections. How did they manage to not get busted this time?

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Rubberization Ray, “Night of the Living Pharmacists”
Why Not Build a Ray That Makes Your Skin Like Rubber?

Car Wash, “At the Car Wash”
Did Someone Say Phin-tastic Fabulous Car Wash?

Rollercoaster, “Buford Confidential”
There’s Nothing Like an Underwater/Overwater Rollercoaster

Bounce House, “Meatloaf Surprise”
A Giant Bounce House That Floats

Miniature Golf Course, “Put That Putter Away”
What to Do When the Local Mini-Golf Course Closes?

#1: Coolest Coaster Ever
“Rollercoaster”

We top our list with the first “Big Idea” that Phineas and Ferb ever concocted, the “Coolest Coaster Ever.” To make their concept a reality, the lads get a building permit, filled out in crayon, and borrow a robotic arm to aid in construction. When completed, the roller coaster is a sky-scraping masterpiece, featuring loops, drops, rubber snakes, a mud bath, and even a car wash. Even when it is physically moved, and has to operate beyond its blueprints, the amazing ride still offers completely incredible thrills, making it more than worthy of topping our list.
