For this list, we’ll be looking at various hidden weapons in video games that deal an extraordinary amount of damage. #10: Great Fairy's Sword

“The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask” (2000)

The most powerful sword in “Majora’s Mask” is also a hidden one. You have to work for your offense in this game! The Great Fairy’s Sword is only obtainable once a player collects all fifteen Stray Fairies inside the Stone Tower Temple. Once they are returned to the Fairy's Fountain, the Great Fairy of Kindness will give Link the sword as a reward. This is a double-handed sword that deals incredible damage to enemies, and it’s tied with the Fierce Deity Sword as the most powerful weapon in the game. But beware - because it requires both hands to use, Link cannot use his shield and is therefore vulnerable to attack.

#9: Staff of Sehetep

“Assassin's Creed Origins” (2017)

A staff dedicated to a crocodile god, the Staff of Sehetep belongs to Medjay Bayek. This legendary scepter is easily one of the best weapons in the game, dealing upwards of 363 damage and containing strong attributes like Bleeding on Hit and Health on Kill. A religious staff saturated with incense and blood is bound to deal some heavy blows, and the Staff of Sehetep certainly delivers. However, it is only made available by completing the side mission Bad Faith, which opens at level 29. Those who overlook and ignore the side quest miss out on what is arguably the game’s most powerful weapon. And that’s why you always finish the side quests!

#8: Excalibur II

“Final Fantasy IX” (2000)

Excalibur II is the most powerful weapon in “Final Fantasy IX,” but you certainly have to work for your power. Players have to make their way into the room Gate to Space, which is found within the final dungeon, in less than 12 hours. They then must defeat Lich and search a pillar on the right hand side of the circle. Then and only then will they receive the Excalibur II. However, the hard work is well worth it. The sword is Holy, it teaches some great abilities, and it has a devastating attack power of 108. Excalibur II was so successful and beloved that it later appeared in future iterations of the franchise.

#7: Aerondight

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine” (2016)

The silver sword Aerondight was absent from the core “Wild Hunt” game but could be found in its critically adored expansion, “Blood and Wine.” To obtain it, players must complete the secondary quest There Can Be Only One and defeat the Hermit. And even then, the secondary quest only opens up once the player demonstrates all five of the chivalric virtues. Once all this is done, the Hermit will disappear and the Lady of the Lake will hand Geralt Aerondight. The sword is immensely powerful, as it builds charges that increase damage before delivering critical hits. Furthermore, the weapon’s damage will permanently increase by two once an enemy is defeated with the fully-loaded sword. Aerondight easily overpowers any other sword found in the game.

#6: Infinite Launcher

“Resident Evil 4” (2005)

We mean, the name says it all with this one. Players on their first run of “Resident Evil 4” are not able to obtain the infinite launcher, as it’s only unlocked once the game is completed. In every subsequent new game, the launcher can be purchased from the merchant for a staggering one million points. The weapon does exactly what it claims to. It functions just like the regular rocket launcher, only it fires a little faster and has infinite ammo. Is it really surprising that an unlimited rocket launcher is the best weapon in the game? This is all you need to breeze through the monsters, and it certainly makes dealing with Ashley a lot easier and less headache-inducing.

#5: Firelance

“Fallout 3” (2008)

Finding the Firelance is pure, dumb luck. It can only be obtained if the player stumbles across a unique random encounter called Unidentified Flying Debris. An explosion is typically heard while wandering the wasteland, and a bunch of alien power cells rain from the sky. Also hidden among the debris is a fantastic weapon called the Firelance. This is a variation of the alien blaster that has 100% critical chance and high damage. It also has the capability to set its target on fire, which causes about 10 damage over five seconds. It’s an incredibly rare encounter, but getting your hands on the Firelance is one of the best feelings that “Fallout” can offer.

#4: Scarab Gun

“Halo 2” (2004)

The Scarab Gun is easily the best weapon in “Halo 2.” It’s very similar to the regular plasma rifle, only it deals extraordinary high damage, has unlimited ammo, and never overheats. Even on legendary difficulty, this thing plows through enemies and makes players feel like a “Halo” God. There are just two problems. It has horrible splash damage and it’s a real pain to find. There are actually multiple methods that can be utilized, but each is difficult and time consuming. Finding the Scarab Gun requires a lot of patience and various skulls, primarily the Sputnik. Which means players have to find the skulls before they even attempt to find the gun. But, luckily, the results are well worth the hassle.

#3: Hadouken

“Mega Man X” (1993)

As everyone probably knows, Hadouken is a special attack from the “Street Fighter” series. However, it has also been incorporated into the “Mega Man” franchise, and it can be found in the 1993 SNES title “Mega Man X.” The special move can only be obtained from a secret light capsule that is quite hard to find. It requires many prerequisites, complex moves, restarts, and even various trips to the same location. Luckily, all this work pays off with the best move in the game. Hadoken causes 32 damage and obliterates most enemies in a single hit. Even most bosses are taken down with a single splash of the Hadoken. Now this is how you do a video game crossover.

#2: Hand Cannon

“Dead Space 2” (2011)

This is one of the scariest survival horror games ever made…but not when the hand cannon is equipped. For one thing, it looks like those red foam hands that people get at sporting events. Kind of takes away from the atmosphere, you know? Furthermore, the gun has an unlimited rate of fire and completely blows apart any enemy it’s fired upon. But getting it is quite difficult. Players first need to beat the game to unlock hard core mode and then beat the extremely challenging mode itself. That’s two full playthroughs, one of which is very difficult and patience-testing. But if a player should have the fortitude, they will be rewarded with one of the best novelty weapons in gaming.

#1: Golden Gun

“GoldenEye 007” (1997)

This is one of the greatest guns in one of the greatest first person shooters ever made. Put simply, it’s historic. The golden gun kills most enemies in a single shot. The only drawback is that it only holds one bullet at a time, so a player is in serious trouble if they miss. Besides literally cheating, the golden gun can only be obtained in the hidden Egyptian level. Egyptian is only unlocked after defeating the incredibly frustrating Aztec mission on the game’s hardest difficulty, 00 Agent. Within the Egyptian level itself, players are forced to complete a special puzzle involving floor tiles to unlock the golden gun. It’s a hassle, but that hassle defined many childhoods.
