VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Izhan Arif
These WWE wrestlers did not hold back. For this list, we'll be looking at moments when WWE Superstars acknowledged us for a change by calling out something fans either discussed or criticized at one point or another. Our countdown of WWE fighters who said what we were all thinking includes Seth Rollins, John Cena, CM Punk, and more!

#10: Monday Night Raw (In 2018) Sucks!

WWE’s creative has always been a little uh, let’s just say rocky at times. But its flagship show “Monday Night Raw” had possibly one of its worst years ever in 2018. Its November 26th episode of “Raw” was even considered one of the worst of all time. From poor ratings to Dean Ambrose’s poorly-received heel gimmick, fans were tuning out. Eventually, Seth Rollins addressed the lackluster quality of the show. He blamed it all on then-general manager Baron Corbin. Way to throw him under the bus, Seth! It wasn’t actually Corbin’s fault, but we’re guessing somebody needed to take the fall for all of the bad booking. Thanks for your sacrifice, Corbin!

#9: Should It Have Been You, Dolph?

Dolph Ziggler is an amazing wrestler and has certainly been seen as one of WWE’s most underutilized talents. And in 2019, following a brief hiatus, Dolph Ziggler made his return by attacking then-WWE champion Kofi Kingston. His reasoning that he should’ve been the WWE champion led to a new heel gimmick (and also the birth of a new meme within the fandom). He used the belief that he had been constantly passed over to justify becoming an overbearing heel. But Kevin Owens stopped Dolph dead in his tracks in a fiery and comedic promo. Maybe it should have been him once, but that time passed. You gotta learn to let go, Dolph!

#8: Your Daddy’s Not Here Anymore

In the wake of Vince Mcmahon’s massive scandal, the patriarch of the WWE ultimately stepped down from the company. And just a few days later, Roman Reigns reminded Austin Theory of it. Roman said it best during this segment when he pointed out Vince’s departure. It’s no secret that Austin was the benefactor of some very favorable booking from Mr. Mcmahon. He was even Mr. Money In The Bank because of him! But with Vince now on the outs (well atleast until he came back almost six months later), that meant Austin was all on his own. We were curious to see if he could swim with the sharks now that he was alone.

#7: More Than Politics & Part-Timers

Seth Rollins cut a great promo on “Raw” explaining the significance of the new World Heavyweight Championship that was unveiled that very same night in April of 2023. During it he also threw shade at his former Shield stablemate Roman Reigns which fired up the crowd. Seth would later win the title as its inaugural champion! And a new championship meant more opportunities for wrestlers to fight for a world title. Something which has become scarce considering Roman Reigns rarely defends his title anymore. We understand rare defenses are somewhat part of the Tribal Chief character, but it doesn’t make things feel any less frustrating. Especially when there’s no title defenses for months at a time! Thankfully, this championship seems to be filling that void!

#6: Vince Buries the ‘What’ Chants

WHAT? Vince Mcmahon has been a very polarizing figure in WWE. But one of the things fans can agree with Vince on is that the ‘WHAT?’ chants aren’t great. It’s a loud distraction if anything! Sure, it might be fitting whenever Stone Cold, the innovator of the ‘WHAT?’ chant is on the screen, but that’s the exception, not the rule. Like Vince pointed out, the chants can be stupid. They derail momentum from a segment and frustrate both wrestlers and fans trying to get immersed in the promo or match. Please remember to always chant responsibly!

#5: Aren’t You Jamaican?

There was some trouble in paradise for Kofi Kingston when DX caught wind of a certain ruse of his. When he first debuted in WWE, Kofi had a strong Jamaican accent as part of his gimmick. But the thing is, Kofi’s Ghanaian, not Jamaican. Over time, his fake accent was dropped, but it didn’t go unnoticed by DX and the fans! Triple H and Shawn Michaels pointed this out to Kofi in a hilarious segment on “Raw”. We sincerely wish Kofi’s original Jamaican accent the best in all its future endeavors!

#4: Daniel Bryan Wants Better Security

Why’s it so hard to find some decent help these days? On an episode of “Talking Smack”, Daniel Bryan went into a humorous tangent about a critical flaw with WWE. The flaw? Well, how come security is so bad at their jobs? Bryan pointed out that every time someone gets banned from ringside, they always find a way to sneakily get back in. Is security taking naps? Ok, it’s not necessarily the most serious of problems and fans typically just brush it off, but Daniel Bryan makes a point! We guess suspension of disbelief can only go so far.

#3: John Cena BURIES Austin Theory

When John Cena made a return to WWE on the March 6th 2023 episode of “Raw”, he was called out by Austin Theory. Theory wanted a match with him but initially Cena refused! The segment quickly turned from building towards a Wrestlemania match to Cena just laying into Theory. This wasn’t just a burial, it was a verbal annihilation! He called Theory a lot of things but a focal point was that he was just another guy who the audience didn’t care about. And folks…where’s the lie? Everyone could see that Theory was out of his depth here, and he hasn’t exactly proven Cena wrong! Theory beat Cena at Wrestlemania to retain the United States championship and yet…something’s just missing.

#2: The War of Words

Roman Reigns’ character work has been so good as the Tribal Chief that it’s kind of hard to believe that before the Island of Relevancy, the Big Dog was in the Doghouse. A promo battle between Cena and Reigns during “Raw” escalated into a personal war of words. Cena got candid about how Roman was handpicked to be the top guy but how he wasn’t doing his job. Echoing exactly what fans had been complaining about for years prior to Roman finally turning heel. Roman fumbling through his words didn’t exactly help either. And any insult Roman launched at Cena, Cena had a comeback for. But despite that, both competitors shared some powerful lines. This was a segment everybody was talking about.

#1: The Pipebomb

If we just said “that one wrestling pipe bomb”, you’d probably know exactly what we’re talking about. That’s how iconic the pipe bomb which CM Punk dropped was. On “Raw”, Punk would peel back the 4th wall and air all of his grievances through a hot mic. While even the crowd wasn’t safe from Punk, so much of what he said still resonated with the fans. He criticized the idea that John Cena was the best and much much more. And for a long time, we weren’t even certain if the pipe bomb was real or scripted. The pipe bomb wasn’t just small grievances that Punk and fans had with the company, it was a historic moment which arguably changed WWE forever.
