#10: Andy & April
“Parks and Recreation” (2009-)

Perpetually disinterested April and doofy, but loveable Andy, surprised everyone with their spur-of-the-moment surprise wedding. While their guests may have thought they were simply attending a party, they were actually witnessing the union of a couple that really hadn’t been dating all that long. In spite of their unexpected ceremony, these two characters seem to genuinely love each other. And that’s what weddings are all about, right?

#9: Mike & Carol
“The Brady Bunch” (1969-74)

Their wedding was more than a family affair; it was a family imposition. While there seemed to be pre-wedding jitters on both sides of the aisle, everyone knew what they were getting into. Between six kids, a dog, and a maid, let’s just say the Bradys didn’t travel light. And their wedding was as much of a family-friendly mess as you can imagine.

#8: Joanie & Chachi
“Happy Days” (1974-84)

He’d been chasing her on-and-off for a while before she finally relented and gave him a chance. It might’ve been the wisest decision she made, because these two eventually ended up falling madly in love. After breaking up and making up, forming a band and seeking fame and fortune, this rocking couple finally tied the knot on the show’s series finale. What a way to make an exit.

#7: Howard & Bernadette
“The Big Bang Theory” (2007-)

Nerds need love, too. And when they find it, it’s beautiful. Thanks to a pesky thing like Howard’s impending space trip, these two love-nerds had to move up their trip down the aisle, which meant their friends got ordained and the ceremony moved to the roof. With lotsa yelling, a bit of Klingon, and some perfect timing on behalf of the Google Earth satellite, Howard and Bernadette got their happily ever after.

#6: Matthew & Mary
“Downton Abbey” (2010-)

Their relationship started off cordially enough, with minor inconveniences like familial politics and Mary’s initial dislike of Matthew causing some tension. But as in all great love stories, they overcame their differences, their attachments to other people and the First World War to fall in love and marry in an elegant ceremony. We’ve come to expect such flawless “dos” from this family, since they’re accustomed to the finer things.

#5: Lily & Marshall
“How I Met Your Mother” (2005-14)

We’d been waiting since day one to see these two tie the knot – literally; Marshall proposes in the pilot. But that doesn’t make their special day any less magical. However that magic comes with some issues, like old boyfriends, pregnant harpists and bad, bad hair. From those lemons, these guys make lemonade in the form of a small, secret impromptu ceremony in the park – followed by the big shindig everyone expects. Best of both worlds!

#4: Luke & Laura
“General Hospital” (1963-)

It would be the understatement of the century to say their relationship started out on rocky footing. Marrying your rapist may seem a little… unconventional to most people, but clearly that’s not the case in the soap opera world. Luke and Laura actually went on to become a “supercouple,” being incredibly popular with viewers, and their long-awaited wedding in November, 1981 shattered soap opera ratings. Talk about a twist.

#3: Ross & Emily
“Friends” (1994-2004)

A lot of money and planning went towards this wedding, and while it is beautiful, it does not end well. In front of their closest friends and family, amid the candlelight and string quartet, Ross declares his love for… not Emily. Oh, the drama. Not to mention, the true object of his affections has just flown across an ocean to declare her love for him. This thing was doomed from the start.

#2: Jim & Pam
“The Office” (2005-13)

We were rooting for them for so long. And they actually end up getting married – twice. Wedding jitters and mishaps get the better of this pair, and they disappear without explanation. When they finally show up at the church, they find their friends have prepared something special for them. Interspersed between the ridiculous dancing, we find out that Jim and Pam actually got married an hour before, in one of the most romantic ceremonies we’ve ever seen on TV.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Miranda & Steve “Sex and the City” (1998-2004)
- Rhoda & Joe “Rhoda” (1974-78)
- Uncle Jesse & Becky “Full House” (1987-95)
- Cory & Topanga “Boy Meets World” (1993-2000)
- Sue Ellen Mischke & Pinter Ranawat “Seinfeld” (1989-98)

#1: Edmure Tully & Roslin Frey
“Game of Thrones” (2011-)

Fans of George R.R. Martin’s novels knew what was coming, but plenty of folks were unprepared. Known as the “Red Wedding,” this ceremony sees a union of politics and convenience take place; but what follows is a reception fuelled by revenge, where main characters are slaughtered left and right. Sure, a wedding does happen, but a pregnant woman also gets stabbed through the belly, so we’d say this one ends on an unhappy note. Thanks, Lannisters.

I think the wedding on Big Bang Theory was the most adorable, but that may be because I love nerds.
